I'm not gonna make any predictions for the match tonight. I like to think positively when it comes to Peru, but even the most optimistic of fans will know how difficult it will be to win this. We could even get battered, it happened last time we went to Chile, even if that was just a friendly.

Peru is very much being reminded of what the Chileans did to us in 1997. Not just beating us 4-0, but hurting our players and making their trip the worst. Also the fans. Knocking Chile out of their own cup would be fantastic, unfortunately I don't know if we can do it.

If we win this, it could possibly be the greatest win in Peruvian history.

I think that if you manage to cope with their pressure and enthusiasm for the first 25-30 minutes, then you will have your chance to take this..

Happened to a lad in Scotland when he scored the winning goal in a Cup final against Celtic - his dad collapsed and died.

Yeah I remember hearing about that, dreadful memories for the lad that, every time he thinks on that Final, he'll be reminded of his dad passing.

Agreed. Chile are definitely strong favourites, but I do think if Peru play as well as they have been, they'll give them a real game tonight. Good luck to them anyway, either of those teams will make worthy finalists.

Straight red! Need to see that a few times to see if it looks deliberate, just now it looks unbelievably harsh! Peru up against it now though. :(

Second yellow isn't it?
Hard to say how much he knew about it, but the Peruvian commentators here seem to think it's justified and they're usually pretty biased.
Edit: Straight red whilst on a yellow!

It would have been a fair second yellow so I suppose it doesn't make much difference in the end.

It's a shame in the context of this match though.

Valdivia would grace the Premier League, a fine player.

Haven't been impressed with the referee in all honesty. The red was a red (second yellow rather) I'll agree with that, but he's calling a lot of fouls that aren't fouls. This will probably end 3-0. Pissed off

Half time came at the right time for Peru though, had there been more than 10 minutes to play, then I think Chile could have put the game to bed. As it stands however, if Peru can get organised and keep tight, they might create some more chances and you never know, they may grab a goal here.

Wow, poor officiating yet again - this time against Chile though for that wrongly called offside.

There it is. Chile through to the final. Great goal to win it, but Peru went down swinging.

Peruvian journalist asking Vargas which of his 2 goals he preferred. Such a hard choice between the pea roller that looked offside or the screamer that won the game.

Even with all the dodgy ref decisions, we didn't deserve to win. We we're pretty much the better team until the red. Then we fought but it wasn't enough. Nothing we could do about that Vargas strike.

Ref was terrible as I said, and I even thought he was wasting time in favour of Chile at the end. That foul on Farfan was a prime example. There was absolutely no contact.

Anyways, COME ON ARGENTINA, you are our only hope to stop Chile from lifting their first ever cup.

Also, unless you bet on Chile, stop celebrating if you aren't Chilean. I don't mean to sound rude but you aren't Chilean and you never will be.
