We have been over this already. Its a Match Thread for ALL Non League Games.

I'm hearing Sutton United have been promoted, a fairly big story in the Non League scene. I think I'll find out a bit more about them and their recent results by looking in the Conference South thread, ahead of their supporters joining in on these Conference National match threads next season.

Hang on a minute, wasn't today the day FGR's fans said they were gonna relegate Halifax.........?
Due to being in a coma all day, I haven't checked any scores yet, so do tell me, how did that pan out?

Sorry to break the news but after 44 games of perfect planning for the Conference North 2017 title, your useless players went and fucked it up big time.

Unable to get to Blundell Park today, but heard Jon McCarthy on Dee 106 on way home from a meeting I had to go to. He said we were the better team and thoroughly deserved the win. He explained how he'd gone to see to see the Cods in midweek and formulated a strategy which has worked to a tee. Even more evidence of what a dud Burr was. I'm 95% convinced that Macca and Ian Sharps are the duo to improve on this season. What the fuck were you doing to my team you excuse laiden fraud Burr.
I’m definitely succumbing to the ‘Macca in’ stance at the moment with Sharps as his number two. They’ve got them happy and playing well.

Putting Rooney on the left could well be a masterstroke, we know on his day there’s very few better than him in this division but it’s how you fit him in which is the dilemma. He’s a luxury player really who you can’t afford to carry in the middle which is where Burr always had him, but on the left, cutting in with his good close control of the ball, he looks very good on a more consistent basis. Similarly, Kane Richards up front, why has this taken so long to figure out? Especially as Burr credited his improvement at Ilkeston from playing there.

We're apparently playing some kinda weird 3-2-1-1-2 formation, which gives us no-one in wide areas and exploits those at CB who have no pace (with Sparrow 'sitting' who also has no pace).
Whoever takes over in the next few weeks MUST add some pace to our side in centre midfield and defence, the ease teams get through with a bit of pace is disgrace! Been happening all season and never been addressed.
If only Howe could head at goal properly he'd have had hat trick today, twice he fluffed a chance and twice Woking went down the other end and scored.
Rhead and Muldoon must have wondered why they bother with a clueless defence like ours!

Realistically, are Guiseley or Alty going to get a result? I genuinely think you could even lose and you'd still stay up. 80/20 in your favour now, no doubts.

Some very, very quiet FGR fans I sense...maybe they're regretting their downright arrogance on here they've displayed all season (with an exception of one poster).

I wouldn't be too sure of that. I'm sure it'll be a real transistor radio affair at all three grounds, but it's clear that Morning Wood are capable of good results occasionally and while Guiseley have had a horrible last few months, if Torquay are willing to let them have their fun the way some might expect Macclesfield to be, you never know. Guiseley's ill earnt Braintree point also means them drawing and us losing would put us down.

Gonna think about the permutations for a minute, using the relegation mini-league:
19 Boreham Wood W11 D14 L20 GD-8 47
20 FC Halifax Town W12 D11 L22 GD-27 47
21 Guiseley W10 D16 L19 GD-24 46

So:
1. All teams win: Guiseley go down.
2. B-Wood and the Shaymen win: Guiseley go down.
3. B-Wood win/draw, Shaymen draw/lose, Guiseley win: Shaymen go down.
4. B-Wood win/draw/lose, Shaymen lose, Guiseley draw/win: Shaymen go down.
5. B-Wood draw/lose, Shaymen win, Guiseley win: B-Wood go down.
6. B-Wood draw/lose, Shaymen lose... fuck me, this is hurting my head.
...
94. Altrincham win, B-Wood/Shaymen lose, Guiseley lose/draw: Guiseley go down.
95. Altrincham win, Shaymen lose: Shaymen go down.

I can see 3,000 fans at the Shay next week which would be huge for us of course. Could put off the extra 1,500 for life by quite a few permutations. I thought FGR would want to thump us given the recent hostilities between the sides and that given, I'd guess Macclesfield would want to at least bruise us. Meanwhile I guess a big turnout for Guiseleeds would fire their players up too, while Morning Wood might fill a mini coach for Welling. Six days' rest... will that refresh us enough to survive?

I can't see Boreham Wood failing to beat Welling, they were in disarray today. We need both Yorkshire teams to lose, while we beat Braintree (stop sniggering) and we're sorted.

Jeeze 1 goal in our last 5 home games, and that was a 1-2 loss, can we play both play off legs away, even at Blundell Park where we have I think never won (before....).

Was convinced we would loose today, combination of JH and relegation fight vs poor form no goals and some changes to the team, fair play to the Shay (surprised only 139 or so came though, no wonder the double decker bus bar left half way through the first half. )

Does that mean that FGR can now officially be liked by all from Halifax

There's almost no logic whatsoever behind this, but I think Boreham Wood might slip up next week. It's just the thought of them actually winning three games on the bounce and how unlikely I thought that would ever be that makes me think that.

Well done Jimmy Harvey. Top man and top manager. Got his team playing decent football and for once they didn't try and kick their way through a game (the pitch did that for them).

We are complete and utter shite, from top to bottom. Piss poor organisation off the pitch as well, the newly formed united supporters club FORGOT the supporters player of the year awards and the Brian Fream trophy, some last minute panic has seen something thrown together with voting slips scattered about with no one to give them to but it was disorganised and tinpot. And our pitch is a joke whilst we still have no groundsman. And the only thing we tried to achieve in the game was to avoid injuries and instead ended up getting 3 bad looking ones in the first half.

Oh well, looking forward to some excitement in the play offs. The way we're playing I'm sure everyone else will have a good laugh.

Glad to hear that.
Hope he employs same tactics at ours next season.

Hardly a classic yesterday at Kidds yesterday, but enjoyable none the less if only to see the reaction of the Dover fans at the final whistle, Like Braintree they will be over the moon at what they have achieved this season, and with two part time clubs possibly in the play offs, it is either a sad indictment on the performances of bigger and better financed teams or it is an achievement which supporters of all clubs should applaud, and I tend to think it has to be the latter.
Could either do the unthinkable and go up?
Without saying they will, of course they can, as this now becomes a lottery and despite the "we are shit" "we ain't got a chance" protestations of the FGR and Grimsby fans, they too must know they have as good a chance as any, as surely any of the four of the play off teams can win it, would be really fascinating to see what the bookies will make of it all.

They are what they are- a Mickey Mouse club stuffed with overpriced second and third raters because the real footballers and coaches they need to attract to make all the money that's being chucked in count, know the difference between a REAL football club supported by REAL fans who live and breathe the game, and the all round fakery that is so apparent at Stepford Whores FC. See you next season Chris/Tom. :fing:

I'm taking Dover and Braintree's success as proof that you don't have to be massively bankrolled to get promotion from this league (despite what some of our more negative fans say) but good management and player recruitment still counts for something. You can probably use Cheltenham as an example of this too, albeit slightly better funded.

I'm still not 100% sure about Dover, their team seems a bit too good to be put together on their apparent micro budget...

Well if there's ever going to be a year for Braintree or Dover to send FL supporters into a massive fit over their limited facilities, this is it. FGR and Grimsby may as well pack up and go home if they continue down the same route.

We're actually favourites with Betway. They know we're on our way.

Our fans arent saying we're shit, just bang out of form and annoyingly inconsistent.
Despite this, my head still can't help thinking it will be an FGR - Grimsby final, after the 4 dullest play off Semi final games in the history of the National League, probably both aggregate scores of 1 - 0!

Strange comments from Askey in the Non-League Paper: "Our budget next season will be the lowest in the league, it probably was this season but unless there's some investment in the summer it's going to be reduced more next season. My worry is that one of these seasons it's going to take its toll. The last three seasons we've done really well but it can't keep happening—it's like trying to plug a dam, you can't keep doing it time after time. One year it will tell. We won't get the results, people will blame me for it and I'll get the sack—and the club could probably go under."
