I'd have Askey at Altrincham, can't see it ever happening though

Strange comments from Askey in the Non-League Paper: "Our budget next season will be the lowest in the league, it probably was this season but unless there's some investment in the summer it's going to be reduced more next season. My worry is that one of these seasons it's going to take its toll. The last three seasons we've done really well but it can't keep happening—it's like trying to plug a dam, you can't keep doing it time after time. One year it will tell. We won't get the results, people will blame me for it and I'll get the sack—and the club could probably go under."

Identical situation for us. Rumour is we are cutting our cloth yet again. But apparently we have only been playing some players £120 a week!

We will drop again eventually.

Anyway back re Macc. It would be shame to see them struggle. One of my favourite Non League Clubs.

When we had our CFU meeting earlier this week it was mentioned that several clubs budgets was around the £250k mark, including Braintree and Macc. Ours was £330k this season with a £20k crowdfunder boosted on the top of that.

Just shows you how well the likes of Askey and Cowley have done.

Extremely worrying reading that. Sounds heavily like he's paving the way to jump the sinking ship.

We definitely have the smallest budget.

I remember reading in the NLP a few weeks back that Welling are paying their players £100/£150 a week, or summat to that effect, so if you two are paying within that region or less then each win is a real achievement, as I would've reckoned that sort of money is about par for Step 3. I'm surprised Chester's is £330k too, would've guessed at £500k. Maybe budget is the one thing fans are modest about. I think our average player is on £500/600 a week, although we currently only have about eight of them.

Yes, our 1.1 million has been really well spent :ffs:

Most Rovers fans who went to Eastleigh have been fairly positive, save about the state of the pitch. The having a home and away MoM award is a good idea.

Haven't Macclesfield been playing the "we've got no money and we're within five minutes of going bust" card for the last four years now anyway?

Edit: Also, what ever happened to #MaccMachine or whatever that horrific thing was. I remember when they PULVERISED us before Christmas at our place 5-2, I said they'd be lucky to finish in the top 10 and all their fans went MENTAL.

Hmmm, be hugely surprised if it was the lowest in the league, but their Chairman guy did sell up in the summer and, from memory, said he'd left money in for this season and it was up to the new guys (husband and wife) to provide financial support, if they wished, going forward.

Think you might have the wrong club there Luke?

This is the problem with having a disinterested owner but still trying to fund a full time squad. Our chairman said that we had a bottom five budget this season at the recent fans' forum. Around £40k was raised by supporters over a month to boost the budget but we have still remained competitive all season and a top half finish is fully deserved. 'Sir John' deserves a lot of praise for what he's done in the last couple of years.

According to Barry Smith's programme notes on Saturday, our budget is around £500k, which is 20% down on last season. I personally would be suprised if Chester's budget was 1/3 less than ours, although to be fair aren't players wages usually a bit less up north?

Amazed how many fans on here have access to Woking's full financial information.

We've only had about 10 players who we've been paying any wages to in the last 2 months with the rest made up of youth loans.

Very much surprised Aldershot's is in-line with their attendances, thought they were still tightening their belts post-administration.

Puzzled how Woking can be in financial trouble over failing to meet £300k/year (or whatever) wages for their players. Can't one of your fans rent out a birdhouse on a tree in their garden and bridge that gap within a few weeks?

Taken from shotsweb, it is quite alarming how our average and total attendances are decreasing each season.

We started the season with the fifth largest wage bill according to our chairman and that was around £650,000 per annum, by the end it would have been quite a bit more than that as we signed several players,

The teams at the start of the season who had more than us were Forest Green, Eastleigh, Tranmere and Gateshead.
