Yeah, I've always had that impression of him based on the comments on here! Does anyone have an opinion on how good he is at football though? Played in front of the defence spraying balls around and looked like the midfielder we've craved for years.

That's his game. He got nicknamed the Plainmoor Pirlo by some, because of his ability to ping 60 yard passes landing perfectly at their destination. Certainly one of the better midfielders we've had down here in the three years we've been back.

Perhaps his new kid will stop the off-field nonsense. I know if we could afford to pay enough for him to relocate then I'd want him down here!!

Haha, I resisted the urge to say he looked and played like Pirlo, but I was thinking it.
I've read about how he knows he's in the last chance saloon etc, but it also looks like he's said the same thing everywhere he's been. We've got an abundance of central midfielders, plus Cox wasn't even there to watch the game, so not sure how likely it is we'll sign him.

Yeah, I was impressed with Scott Fenwick and Jordan Richards, If I had a choice between the two of them I'd be inclined to go for Jordan Richards, he absolutely ran the show in the 2nd half (If we were thinking of signing one of them). He did score a brilliant goal from a free kick, but was disallowed for offside, as for Scott Fenwick I'm not sure we have room for another forward. But good luck to Scott & Jordan where ever they end up in August.
I was also impressed with a lad called Josh Wheatley, has anybody heard of him?

On a side-note, Jason Ainsley (Spennymoor) was at the match last night.
Did Richards play centre mid? He's mainly been a right back for our first team. Centre back for reserves. Played CM once or twice but can't remember if he played well for us. Fenwick will score you goals and not much else, but goals are what you need from a striker.

We are being linked with Jobi McAnuff and/or Danny Green, as we do need a winger.

I think either might be able to do a job, but Jobi is 36 with international responsibilities, and Green was out for the entirety of last season with a double leg break.

Both of decent footballing pedigree, but you wouldn't get 40 games a season out of either player. We will be signing a winger very soon though so watch this space.

Southport fans, what's Declan Weeks like? He's on trial here at the moment.

Only seen Weeks play the once against Rovers, but he was one of their better performers in a 4-1 defeat near the end of last season.

Joined us, his "boyhood club", after training with us for a while and was man of the match on his debut (against yourselves). A month later he was part of the side that lost 7-1 to Cheltenham and got swiftly released, leading to him joining our forum arguing his case as well as having a go at fans on Twitter.

It's already been said but purely on footballing ability I thought he was alright, that temperamental side just completely outweighs it though.

We're expected to sign a winger this week.

Likely to be Jobi McAnuff, but Martyn Woolfords name has also been mentioned as a possible target.

Trialist Josh Taylor has been moved on because of this.

Another trialist Michael Gash has also been moved on, he looked very rusty in his 45min cameo for us on Saturday and will no doubt do a job at this level, but it will probably take him 2-3 months to reach full fitness after his nasty injury last season.

Rumours that our BID might have been for Kevin Roberts from Halifax.

Yeah definitely centre midfield, he came on and replaced our top lad that plays in midfield.
I liked Richards, especially when he showed the qualities of wanting, searching and showing great vision with the ball at his feet, not like some players who seem to go into panic mode and wanting to get rid at all times. Fenwick will score goals but I'm not too sure whether our budget will stretch that far in taking on another striker and another midfielder, but I do hope we look into Richards and give him a chance.

Aldershot have James Rowe, ex-Cheltenham, on trial.

He was with us for a week or so but didn't travel to Portugal with us and in the game he played, didn't look like the required standard of last years starting XI never mind in the FL.

Highly doubt we'll be seeing him again.

Nice one. Fingers crossed for Jordan especially. Think he was unfairly released IMO. Could be seen as a utility player for you if he's trying himself out in CM - so could be a couple of signings in one.

Thanks PoolieTom. I hope so, we could do with at least one more signing if not stretch it to two.
Yeah the lad deserves another shot whether its in the north, or the national league.
Good luck for the season!

We will be signing either Tyler Campbell or Harvey Willard. Much rather it was Willard but we will see.

That would be some fixture for both of our clubs in the FA Trophy. Far too long mate.
Mind you I would hope the game would be drawn at the Vic, our ground isn't good enough to stage high profile games at the moment. Will be a few years before it gets anywhere near our much missed Feethams ground, great days those were.

We've offered one of our overseas triallists a deal, and Racchi and another overseas player have had their trials extended.
Also Cox has been scouting Ryan Pryce from TNS - was on trial at Middlesbrough earlier this year, and is still only young.

is the young french one the one offered the deal - or the extended trial one?

I think they'll all officially be on trial for Saturday's game. But the centre-back has only played 45 mins and not in front of Cox, so unlikely to have a deal on the table yet...

Even more so now we've signed Michael Bostwick from Posh.

We've had a bid turned down for a striker; according to Keates the club involved won't sell to us because we are a rival. A lot of fans think it is Andy Cook but that seems to be pure guesswork.

FAN-OWNED Wrexham spending beyond their means to try and achieve promotion?

They always keep their finances in check.

Its obvious we bid for Cook, you only have to hear the way Keates spoke about the situation by saying "they wouldn't sell, well, not to us anyway".

We will now be on the lookout for another striker with our never-ending budget so WATCH OUT.

It's common knowledge Wrexham bid for Cook along with Notts County, I think he even said it himself at an open day. The uproar if we sold Cook to Wrexham really wouldn't be worth it for the owners, especially if the £10,000 offer is true...

Gutted to lose Kev, genuinely a top half Conference right back in my opinion and stayed loyal to us in the 3 seasons he's been here, even after the relegation. You won't find a bad word said about him down't Shay and he's a great signing for you lot.

Crystal Palace after Tristan Abrahams of Leyton Orient. Orient fans- any good?
http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/foo...rient-teenager-tristan-abrahams-a3592931.html

Yes, like almost all of our kids. Scored 5 in a half on Tuesday, albeit against absolutely pish opposition. Alzate is probably even better.

Then again, this article is just rehashed from a different one from about six weeks ago and the ES is garbage. No idea if there's any truth in it, but they'd be idiots to move to a PL club and play zero competitive fixtures in the next three years.

It seems that the latest bid that was turned down happened very recently - if it was for Cook.

We've got a Matt Gould on trial, keeper from Stourbridge and Kosovar Sadiki from (ex?) Stoke playing in tomorrows friendly with St Johnstone.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
