Gateshead are terrible. Anthony Limbrick might be far too good AND clever for the National League.

Result of the day for me is part time Dovers 1-0 win up at Hartlepool with a team built from scratch. Not suprised Orient got beat at Sutton as its a tough tough place to go.
All in all it was a bad day at the office for the big boys in this league with Wrexham suprisingly getting beat at home by Macc and Tranmere losing their discipline at Plainmoor.
Wonder how long Andy Cook will stick around for if he's continued to be benched?

And it was just a routine win, that was painful to watch from us. No one had a clue what they were doing and the ref was utter shite

Dover thoroughly deserved the win and yes it is hitting home we got beat off a part time side, at home.Trying to not let it ruin my weekend, such a fucking let down but that's Pools, isn't it? As the missus asked 'why are you surprised?' I said I'm not but it's the eternal hope that one day we'll somehow get our act together. Kills me.

Of course it's not the end of the world but that was absolute tripe and I'm not confident going to Macclesfield on Tuesday. That looks just the sort of game we'll lose, well drilled side, fully fluent in non league ways, outsmarting us. We've got to shape up fast as that was the same wake up call we get every season. Our history is just like one big long groundhog day. Except we're not in the FL any more.

Get it sorted Pools

That was...feisty!

A very weak ref who lost control from the 15th minute - certainly wasn't a surprise that the red card was brandished. Actually a really good 0-0 though, neither side really dominated or created too many great opportunities. I'd say Tranmere came close more than us but it could really have ended any way. The first red card was instigated by what looked like an awful two-footed challenge by Buxton. I actually think he may have got the ball, but he absolutely flew in off the ground with both feet - that's a red card in my book. The ref eventually decided on a yellow. As the teams were resetting for the free kick, there was a coming together between Keating and Buxton, then McNulty pushed Keating - second yellow and off.

The second red late on was an elbow into Gowling's face, off the ball. It was spotted by the linesman rather than the ref - straight red. Tranmere went 5-2-1 for the final few minutes. We weren't clever, conceding free kicks and giving Tranmere opportunities to slow the game right down. We had one off the line at the death.

On that viewing it looks like the most exciting team we've had since returning back down here, so fingers crossed that is the case and we have a stress free campaign on the pitch!

For clarification, were Tranmere reffed out by the National League?

My actual opinion: no.

For the sake of this forum: yes.

I said previously, I have no faith in DSY to be the same one we saw last season. Pigott will likely get to double figures but I doubt anyone else does on this team. Maybe Ter Horst when he's back?
I really cant workout why Delano seems to be playing on the wing.

I like the look of the table tonight; Maidstone mid table as everyone predicted, and four big clubs relegated. Can we end the season now?

How did Wrexham manage to lose to a Macclesfield side that has signed 42 new players this summer?

We've beaten them once in a league match since 2003 and 2 wins in 21 in all comps. We make it our business to sign all their players every summer to try and change this but they always get other good players even though they are poverty stricken and minutes away from liquidation.

So what you're trying to say, is that it's THE LAW for Macclesfield to beat Wrexham.

Can see Maidenhead struggling. Some clever operators in there but any teams with a half-decent defence will cope with them. Long ball up to Marks, knock down to Tarpey, rinse, repeat. Do look good from set pieces, though.

decent crowd, against Macc, was always going to be a loss, normally don't go along with the bogey team thing but they certainly are ours

Quality start, looked solid defensively and got the win, exactly what we needed to start off a tough August.

Your kit turned up then. How were Gateshead, we are up there on Tuesday

Well there was a kit and the sponsor was a local charity so I don't know whether it's there for the whole season or not!

Gateshead were nothing special at all, not too many chances even though we didn't give them the opportunity. I need to see a few more competitive games to gauge how good our team is though, i'm still unsure.

Us fans managed to get under the skin of some of their players, especially number 10 who couldn't take any goading in the first half, worth noting.

Fair result, I think it sums up where we are this season - midtable finish.
Terrific opening goal for us, Hurst corner swung out to beyond the D where Rooney met it on the volley and guided it straight into the top corner.
Ebbsfleet look a decent outfit, pass and move very well and have a decent defense.

It's not a bad start for the season against the Kuwaiti investors, which is always difficult to access against a team that's been promoted from another league.

Missed the game in the end due to health, but that's exactly how it seemed by following Twitter. Seems like either side could have taken it by the scruff of the neck, but neither did. How many Fleet fans? Would be slightly disappointed if it wasn't 3 figures.

Hoping to make the Maidstone game on Tuesday, but I'll see how I feel.

Surprised at the decent 6k+ attendance at Wrecsam. Localish opponent and pre-season optimism, but rather more than I'd have predicted.

Pools were awful, slow, one paced, same as last season really,I was bored to tears & Dover deserved the win.
But you lads were right, the standard of the officials was shocking.
Some of the decisions were laughable, they were the only things that brightened up the game.

The lino on the Millhouse side was utterly embarrassing, I don't think he made a decision himself without looking to see what the ref had gave first, when he missed their defender heading the ball out for a corner and giving a goal kick when he was 10 feet infront of him was just incredible

Officials weren't why we lost but fuck a duck they were dreadful.

I'd take a guess at 150 ish Joe. Hope your feeling better very soon. You missed an entertaining game to be fair. Frustration from both teams that they couldn't find a winner.

Their 10 is Jordan Burrow ex FC Halifax which might explain his humour bypass :D

Missed the game because of work (my first game won't be until Wrexham on the 19th, bloody nightmare) but by the sounds of it it was a carbon copy of last year's opener vs York: Easily the better side but couldn't put them away and were made to pay for it.

Been seen these officials for years, they are absolutely shocking I don't know where they dig them up from, seen one today utterly clueless.
