About to head off to our home match with Brentford. Team news announced and Ethan Ampadu is set to become our youngest ever player. In the starting line up at just 15 years, 10 months and 26 days old. Will be interesting to see how he copes against strong opposition.

We made seven changes tonight so it doesn't sound like we were too bothered.

Lost 1-0 at Derby against a strong side and it sounds as if we did alright so can't be too disappointed with that. 1700 made the trip.

Carson pulled off 2 amazing saves in injury time to keep us out as well, one from a James McKeown header!

Reasonably comfortable 2-1 win over Port Vale.

Wasted a few chances to put it to bed by half time, which meant a mistake early in the second half leading to their goal made it a little nervy, but I honestly didn't fear they were going to get the equaliser however long they played.

Sounded dire from us and despite the changes made we should still be competitive. Need a striker fast

I thought we looked brilliant at times in that first half, players looked confident on the ball.

Nicky Adams looks very good, comfortable on the ball and two-footed. Lambe played well on the other side, rapid on the ball. Miller and Wyke looked decent together up front. Jones in midfield bossed the game, seemed to be everywhere.

I'm glad we're in the draw for round two, some big teams coming in.

Beat Sheff Utd 2-1 AET. Ridiculous. Ryan Lowe bagged both. First time since 1994/95 that we've won both of our opening games.

What is going on?!

Yeah, don't know if Port Vale were just not arsed or playing a second string or if they are just really poor, but we won't have many easier opponents this season. A bit of softness crept in around either side of half time, we had a couple of lazily taken chances either side of Miller's goal and then gave away a soft chance that they probably took fairly well but following on from an ugly ground out point against a good team it was good to see we can also make light work of light opposition to. Bodes well for the season.

Cracking turnout by Grimsby tonight.

Beat Wycombe 1-0 in our game, they had much the better of the second half and were only denied by Richard O'Donnell who supposedly played a blinder.

I thought you'd be better in all honesty. A point at Bradford is a decent result so I expected a tougher match tonight.

Whether your players were not arsed about this cup, I don't know.

Four changes and a shocking formation first help didn't help (1 up front against league two opponents with few goals in midfield to support that) but we need to be far better than what we've clearly been tonight.

We lost in similar fashion in the FA Cup last year to Exeter and ultimately the chairman never forgave the manager for it hence the massive changes and withdrawing his funding until he'd walked... Promised there would be no repeat so await his reaction!

That's some win for Morecambe at Rotherham.

When I saw 5-4 I thought they'd won on penalties, only to realise that was the actual scoreline!

I thought you played very well. I was really impressed with your CB partnership who defended excellently and didn't really deserve to concede twice.

Won 1-0 AET. Harley with the goal. Didn't have much going forward for the second game running which is a worry but a tidy finish won it for us. Ampadu was really, really good. Got the deserved man of the match and showed incredible composure for someone so young playing at centre half.

Mingoia - just wait until you see his goal. That was worth the £22 alone. What a player he is, the little magician.

Felt like a pre season game for 90 mins but we come alive in extra time and battered them. Could and should have had a pen but it didn't matter as Berry turns in the box to fire home. United 2-1 Shefffield Wednesday.

Scenes!!

Can only echo GOG's comments. Soldid performance, worked hard and nicked it with probably our only real effort on target.
Ethan Ampadu was easily the best player on the pitch. His reading of the game and composure was amazing for any debutant, let alone a 15 year old schoolboy.

Obviously it's early days but he could be the best young player we've ever produced based on tonight's game. Really excited to see how he develops this season.

Thought we held our own against Fulham myself, but their extra class with the ball showed. Our mistakes were duely punished from a set piece and some poor shielding from our young Centre Back Aron Pollock. Cracking goal through from Cauley Woodrow for their second.

We made a fight of it and good to see Paul McCallum score two, which were both assisted by Dean Cox.

Yep some good results for the L2 sides tonight. There were some others who went close like Newport who were leading 2 nil only to let Mk score 3 goals in the last 20 mins or so. Pools were close to ET but conceded a 94th goal at PNE, and Pompey took the game to ET at Coventry.

Its scary that he's just 21 years old. He played 3 games for Luton as a 16-year old in the FA Trophy against Welling, Uxbridge and Gloucester, whoever they were! We've got a sizeable sell on fee, so hopefully he pushes on.
