Josh Rees and Brett Williams scored in a 2-0 win at Leatherhead on Saturday. Tyrone Marsh and Ben Williamson played up front in the second half on trial.

Eastleigh are doing a Braintree and have cancelled two home pre-season friendlies due to their pitch, after their weekend one was also cancelled.

A bit of a baptism of fire for us. Saturday was Leeds United tonight we host Barnsley.
Great for fitness, chasing after a touch of the ball for ninety minutes!

Yesterday... "We're adamant the pitch is ready to play on," Jewell told BBC Radio Solent. "Our regulars have never seen the pitch look so good."

Today... "Remedial work as a result of extreme heat will need to be completed upon 15-20% of the newly laid turf," Jewell added.

Which one is it, Mark? Proper tinpot.

I saw pictures of the pitch before Saturday and if they describe that as "never seen the pitch so good" I worry what they think makes a good pitch.

As for Brodie well I've seen milk turn quicker. I don't think he's interested

This should come as a surprise to no-one. I think he's surely done at any remotely serious level, he doesn't give enough of a shit to stay in even approximately acceptable shape. Coming soon to an Evo Stik div 1 outfit near you.

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
At Mossley vs Curzon tonight. Wonderfully weird ground.......murders you walking up this ridiculous hill to it then through turnstyle for a cracking scenery view.

After that its like they crammed 2000 space into a corner of ground then 500 space in other 3/4 of ground

Then add in them awful late 80s terrace bars they had......and some weird tiny enclosure in centre of terrace along side of pitch.

Made my first team debut for Curzon away at Mossley about 14 years ago now. Used to be a tasty little local derby, which Mossley used to mostly have the better of. Remember getting abused as I warmed up on the touchline by some 40 something slob "you're shit, thats why you're on the bench yer prick", he didn't like it when I pointed out he couldn't even get pitch side of the fence the "fat c**t"!! Fair to say my sprint back to the dugout was a little more hasty!!

We beat Motherwell 1-0 tonight - that was pretty much their full-strength side, while we changed most the XI at half-time and included a bunch of trialists. They've been at it a few weeks longer too. Don't know if that's a sign we should be getting excited or they should be worrying!

Mossley is terrific, keep hoping we’ll arrange a friendly back there someday.

We visited just a few games before the end of our first season after reforming, wasn’t much free space about! Had Chester fans hanging over the veranda from the bar in the corner and everything.

Walk up the hill is torturous from the rail station, jelly legs once you get there.

Alfreton Town 0-5 Sheffield Wednesday. Attendance 1,426

Comfortably beaten 5-0 by an extremely strong Sheffield Wednesday side. Learned little really. Really could do with a friendly against inferior oposition so we can get some time on the ball. FC Halifax next up. Should be more of a yardstick.

We won 2-1 at AFC Totton. Okojie and Kanu both scored within the first 11 minutes, we then missed a hatful of chances and in the 2nd half when we brought a load of trialists/academy players back Totton got one back late on

Altrincham 1-2 Stockport County

Good work out for both sides I thought. Game of two halves too. 1st half with our first team we controlled it for large parts with Winter and Walker controlling the midfield and the 4 attacking players causing some problems.

1st goal came from a Stephenson cross, which was inadvertedly knocked home by Heathcote under pressure from Oswell. Oswell doubling the lead from a Sam Walker corner. 0-2 at HT

2nd half saw Alty much more in the game, after making a large number of changes at HT. County leaving most of their changes until the 60min mark. Alty got back in it with 10 to go. Cross from the right well taken by the onrushing number 11.

Preston NE at home on Saturday for us.

Good luck to Alty for the upcoming season.

Lost 0-2 to Welwyn Garden City

Can't comment as couldnt be arsed to stand outside a cage in the pissing rain.

What I can say tho 3 games, 3 losses...trying not to let the optimism fade that we'll do well this coming season but this isn't boding well at the minute

Next up v Hitchin in the Hendon tournament on Saturday. Quite looking forward to this little tournament.
