Decent night for us again, really.

Got a difficult away trip out the way and come away relatively unscathed in terms of the table.

There is a HUGE game at Rotherham on Saturday.

We set a new record last night, the most home games in a row without a win at 10 (4 months). Having missed the only win at home since August due to being away I'm currently looking at 14 games without a win at home or roughly £200 a home win based on my season ticket price.

We are so inept in every way and I despise the snake oil salesman who is now surely taking us down. We need to clear out most of the squad in the summer and return to playing simple, direct football with a hard working and honest base. No more disinterested loanies or elderly footballers looking for a pension. That it's taken until now for the crowd to properly turn on the players and manager is fairly amazing when you consider how bad we have been.

Agree with you. Frankly, if we lose at Rotherham and find ourselves 6 points adrift and in the run of form we are currently on I'd be tempted to try and blood as many of the kids as we can alongside what little quality we can muster to hopefully hit the ground running next year. I'd be tempted to recall Marquis and give him the chance to earn a contract for next year in league 1 and bin the utter dross like Taylor-Fletcher, Tonge, Harding and the rest.

With so many out of contract, unless JB backs Holloway big style in the summer our side for next season could look very, very immature.

Big opportunity come Saturday to put six points between us and Millwall as suggested above - with Millwall away at Boro and us with a winnable home game against Cardiff on the Tuesday following it could be nine..... that would give us a bit more comfort

I don't think Marquis would want to go back and play for a new contract under Hollloway, as he has already told the lad that he doesn't figure in his plans. Hardly going to inspire John to want to go and play for him.

I feel sorry for the 'Wall fans, they were unfortunate to not be leading at half time last night but that second half capitulation was very much that of a side resigned to relegation, they have a fighting chance if they get rid of Holloway cos he just looks out of his depth for once.

As people have said Saturday is the big game for both Rotherham and Millwall, I actually fancy the Lions to grab a result because defeat would leave them at least 5 from safety unless Derby lose at Fulham.

Possibly, although there doesn't seem to be any real animosity there. Ultimately of course, it's not Marquis' choice as the club can exercise the recall clause (assuming one exists) if they desire and there's nothing he can do about it. To do so, unless he were going to play, would of course be completely counter productive. I would say though, that if he carries on doing well at Gills and we get relegated we will most likely offer him an extension which would mean that either:
1) He would stay and play for us in a league that he already has done well in or
2) Anyone looking to sign him would have to pay compensation.

Certainly if we go down and let him join a potential rival for nothing, when simply offering him the same youth deal that he is on now would have secured either a useful player or a decent fee will not go down particularly well with either the chairman or the fans.

I agree.
I would be very surprised if you don't at least offer him a contract, as he is under 24 you would be due some compensation in the event of a move.
The ironic thing is that a month or so ago most people were ridiculing us for taking him on loan and most of my Millwall mates were saying he would never make it.

I've always felt that he looked like a limited football player rather than a footballer. He has a good brain and decent instinct but lacks (lacked, maybe?) the natural attributes to make it at more cultured level of football (touch, technique, etc)... at least not without grafting for a few years at a lower level first.

We should definitely make it easy for him to leave in the Summer, though. He's a Millwall lad through and through and I don't think we've treated him very well since Jackett left. Not appallingly, mind, but certainly we have sent him mixed signals, offering him new contracts when it was fairly apparent that most people at the club didn't think he was good enough to be a part of the first team's plans, and haven't for a few years now. Ultimately we have stunted his growth so we could use him to fill out the squad whenever we were desperate. If I was him, I'd be making contract talks with Gillingham my number one priority, as it's clear that it's a mutually beneficial situation. Going to a Birmingham or a Sheffield Wednesday at this stage will ruin his career. It's not going to be any different there for him than it was here.

The players have proved me wrong, and in some style. No-one is happier than me about that.

If you're referring to my comment about Millwall, any fan of either club will tell you that we could be European champions while Millwall sit bottom of the Conference South and we still wouldn't beat them.

The club needs to take a long hard look at itself and make the necessary changes. We have been run by well-meaning but ultimately incompetent people for too long, while traditionally lesser clubs such as Bournemouth and Brentford have formulated and implemented successful long-term business plans and overtaken us (with the help of a bit of money). It's embarrassing.
