Probably at Derby, the question you should be asking is will we lose another game this season.

I refer you to my response to Jockney, based on our performances and winless run for nearly four months, I'm not sure why it seems unreasonable to think we could go the rest of the season without winning and/or go down. Not that I have to justify anything I say to anyone on here, but the last 4 months are easily the worst showings I have seen from any Charlton side since I've been supporting them. You will see from my post in the match day thread and Charlton fans reactions on on Twitter that yesterday's performance came from absolutely no where. No-one is happier than me to be proved wrong.

I still believe we'll be down there the whole way but yesterday was a very helpful day for us.

Where have I made any relation to our situations? Our performances have been beyond shit, there were players strolling around without a care in the world. You picked up valuable wins away at Brighton, Forest and Birmingham and from what I hear from Millwall supporting mates, put up spirited displays in games like the Huddersfield one. Until yesterday, we had seen nothing like that since the start of November.

Edit: Actually, I'll give them credit for their second half showing on Boxing Day. Also, I've just realised I mis-read your second paragraph but the point still stands.

I don't want to speak too soon but I think we're probably going to be fine now, after that brief flirt with the relegation places. Credit to Redfearn for shaking things up with the selection and formation and coping with the off-the-field issues, because we were awful at one point. Hopefully we can keep on improving and don't get dragged back in.

Perhaps I'm slightly annoyed that your assertions were proved wildly out in emphatic style (selfishly), but I thought it was a bit too easy to play the self deprecating cases, despite your horrid form since November.

And this isn't aimed at you at all, but it seems younger fans these days often play the "we've got no chance this Saturday, we might as well give xxxxxx FC the points now" and then become all billy big potatoes when they win. They're essentially creating a win-win situation for themselves as if they lose they can say 'told you so' whilst if they win they can laud it. Very cowardly actions.

I think we've got a reasonable chance against Derby. Games are won and lost on margins in this division and the difference between top and bottom is usually about better quality making better choices. But on their day, the top teams can , and will lose to bottom teams, as ourselves proved beating Ipswich last week and Charlton proved beating Brentford on Saturday.

Appreciate what you're saying and perhaps I was hasty with my comments with 3 months of the season left but at the time of writing them, I could not see where we would win again. We were/are playing some of the worst football I have seen from any Charlton side whilst the likes of yourselves, Millwall, Leeds etc were picking up wins here and there and showing some fight and offering hope, we weren't getting any of that, for nearly 4 months. Then added to the fact that we had a ridiculously difficult February looming. I was certain we'd be in the bottom three by months end and did not believe our squad had the fight or belief to then get out of it. The win against Brentford was a huge surprise albeit a welcome one.

I know it wasn't aimed at me but I can assure you I don't predict defeats to cover my own back, if I think we'll win, I'll say so.

Anyway, we've ascertained that I was wrong about not winning again, I just have to hope (if that's ok) that I was wrong about being relegated because despite the insinuations, I don't believe we're anywhere near yet safe.

And just to prove that I'm not a hypocrite, turncoat or hysterical or whatever, I promise not to laud it over everyone when we win all of our remaining fixtures and the play-offs.

Good point for us last night, though given how we played and that we were 3-1, I'm a tad disappointed not to have come away with all three. That said we've just taken 4 points from Ipswich and Derby at home, and any fan who wouldn't take that is being greedy.

Get Wolves and Watford out the way, hopefully pick up a point, maybe two from them, and then we have some very winnable games after a super tough month.

Millwall at home on the 28th February is shaping up to be a huge game. Both home and away ticket sales are reflecting that.

I hate Reading. Never win when you need them to, bt we never beat them.

You've got a chance to be fair if you're scoring goals. Keogh, Buxton and Christie are hardly the most impressive defenders in the division.

I feel a bit more confident of nicking something than I did a couple of weeks ago, we are in goal scoring form and have at least 4 different threats in the likes of Vetekole, Watt, Gudmunsson and now Eagles rather than just Vetekole. We've even tightened up at the other end.

I just feel the way we've played in the last two games will suit Derby better than our old approach.

Read a couple of articles on Dûchatelet and it looks like he is not even sending the promising youth of Standard Liège to Charlton but to his hometown of Saint Trond which is a bit silly as out of Alcorcon, Carl Zeiss Jena and Charlton, the latter is his best bet to get the TV jackpot. So you never know, if he sees sense and decides to invest in Charlton you could find yourself in the Prem.

You're right.

I and other Charlton fans have been saying it for the past year. We keep hearing how Dûchatelet is a good business man etc, he must surely realise that we have more potential to make him money than any of his other clubs - including Liege. Promotion to the Premier League alone is worth more than Liege qualifying for the Champions League. I have to be fair though, we've made several good signings in the last fortnight.
