yep - and that's 2 points less you've already got this season :)

True. But we've still got more points then we had this time last year when we were BOSSING the league.

And that's with new management, 15 new signings and a change of style. Imagine how we'll do when we fully gel? Once we click, we're going to be unstoppable. Hopefully.

apart from the new management bit the rest applies to Barrow too - and probably a few other teams

Apparently our players had a Mannequin Challenge planned to do in the dressing room for the cameras after beating Lincoln and going 12 points clear. Shame they decided to do it early on the pitch instead.

you lost that one though ;)
in a couple of weeks time we'll have played all 5 of the other top teams - all away from home
That was 1 of the 3 Tom Champion fiasco games, so it doesn't count...

You've also the only team to lose to Sutton at home.....
Lost Rhead to injury and Wood to his own stupidity. Got a bit carried away after Habergham scored from miles out and tried to win it instead of settling for a draw, everyone is allowed an off day, like Forest Green yesterday.

To be fair to them though that is what Barnet did 2 years ago and managed to win the title because of it, it may still be enough for FGR.

Not true really. Our record against the other 4 sides who finished in the top 5 was played 8; won 4; lost 4.

I'm guessing that you won the 4 of those games fairly early in the season then as i can just remember you losing to Bristol Rovers in injury time, and losing at home to FGR at home the week after we beat you for the second time towards the back end of the season, thats when i thought that you were gonna chuck it all away before some kind fixtures against teams near the bottom gave you some momentum back.

Biggest crowd of the day at Crabble. Surely a first?

Rumours we're looking at Miller. Must admit I don't know that much about him other than he scores goals, but he didn't look that great on thursday against a League Two defence (albeit one containing Leon Legge, who is a monster) - reckon he'd make the step up? I'd imagine he could flourish in League Two, but League One?
He had his worst game of the season on Thursday IMO. Would definitely be good enough in league 1, but with your record of ruining Dover legends please don't sign him.

Well yeah, we haven't had the best of luck with Dover players in the past, although Matt Fish turned out to be good for a season before he succumbed to the old Gills ligament injury nightmare. The obvious parallel is Birchall though, and he had more experience at league level than Miller, as well as being a couple of years younger. We are in the market for a striker though, with McDonald basically doing it on his own these days as JET is being played out wide and Donnelly isn't up to it unfortunately. Could see us taking a punt on a free next summer, that seems more our style.

Miller is twice the player Birchall was. Birchall would've done well had he not been crippled first game for you.

Definitely looks as though Miller will be moving to a higher division, according to both Vince and Cooper when they were asked about him on Saturday they said he's out of our range and they expect him to step up a couple of leagues.

Even with our #topnegotiator looks like this one isn't coming off.

Will Gillingham pay 6 figures for him though?

We've had a lot of players who were great in non-league but didn't step up though, so it's a gamble whichever way you look at it. Birchall only scored once in the years he was with us, so based on your assumption that Miller is twice the player I look forward to his two-goal haul :bg:

Miller destroyed us, and according to Danny Cowley our team is full of league 1 quality players. So on that basis he should do well at that level.

If Dover keep getting 3000 crowds they wont need to sell anyone though.

Hah, would be helpful if next time we get a 3000 crowd more than half are of an age where they actually have to pay entry! Must've made a fair bit in the bar/food huts though - was sold out of hot food by half time.

Always a gamble, of course. Birchall would have been good for you, just unfortunate circumstances. He was good enough to terrify your defence in the cup ;)

I thought what Barnet did was knock it to Akinde to fall over in the box and score the resultant penalty.

Not too sure where to post this; what is parking like at FGR? Our website says they have circa 400 spaces, does that usually sell out? If so is there anywhere nearby? Thanks.

Nah Birchall was finished in the Football League after his second full season for us in 2008/09. Something happened to him in the summer of 2008 that turned him from a decent League 2 striker who would always keep defenders on their toes to a completely ineffectual presence!

Then he came to Dover and scored 45 goals in one season including goals against two League 2 sides... Granted he was playing Conference South football but he was more than good enough to play League 2 football had he not had a horrific injury first pre season game.

If I wasn't so fond of Birchall it would've been enjoyable seeing Gills splash out on one of our players only for him to miss the whole season.

The school car park just down from the ground is often used as well.

He still managed to get a title winners medal with us though! Very much a bit part player for us that year though, 3rd choice at best.

Shame, he's a lovely bloke.
