A budget of over £2Million.....How can Woking on their SLASHED budget compete with these teams?

Exactly! We might end up like Kidderminster, and no one wants that.

The losses of £2,469,374 are down on the previous year when a loss of £2,928,709 was recorded.

We're clearly doing something right then, I'd say cutting the losses by nearly half a million is actually pretty damn good.

This year we're spending even less.

Hurry up and go bust. Crazy numbers and it just goes to show what a failure swampy really is at running a football club.

Am sure the FGR fans will all be on defending the club and the position of Vince saying it's pocket change. A wage bill of 2.1 million, well I wonder how high up the ladder you need to go before clubs can simply just keep on spunking money away?

It is ridiculous but AFAIK that large number of staff mentioned includes the gym (open to the public too) up there and various other stuff which will be a chunk of that wage bill too, albeit most of it will be the manager and players. Wait and see what hordes he has employed when we move to the groovy new Wood Bowl out by the motorway, that looks like it might have multisport facilities.
DV has a projection that gets the club sustainable if we get into the league which doesn't look entirely pie in the sky so long as you ignore the cash down the drain not getting there while spending big. Not how I'd have gone about it but not a complete fantasy, don't think it even needs the crowds to grow overly madly.

Nope. Sorry. :£:£:£:bdick:

The club has a clear plan, we will be a sustainable profit making league 1 side once we move to the new stadium. The aim is the Championship, no reason why we wont get there. Our business model isn't based solely on crowds.

Thought they'd stopped handing out massive wages? Number of players has come down, wage bill's gone up - and still the team's average.

Presumably the accounts reflect the Pennock fat stacks of cash years. Next year the wage bill will be three bob and twelve coupons for a haircut (DV style not compulsory).

2nd in table coming off an away win at Barrow.
You're not often right and you're wrong again.

Scraped a win against one of the most out of form sides in the country, but I guess it's however you want to spin it.

Result:
Barrow 2-3 Forest Green Rovers
fact not spin.

We're not debating the result, we're debating the quality of the side - for the money you're dishing out, it's not all that good. It's a matter of opinion, and I think most people would concur that they'd expect to have a much better squad than Lincoln's if they were dishing out double the wages.

Check your first post and it was YOU who deviated from title subject and claimed FGR were average. 2nd in table winning away at Barrow is not average.
Please supply reference that FGR are paying double the wages to Lincoln.
I don't know that answer and suspect you don't either and are just taking a stab in dark to blacken FGR's name because we beat you on Saturday.

Those wages will be more Parkin etc from last year, Mullings and even Pinnock won't be such daft amounts. It will be the squad from late last year, that's how accounts works isn't it, and maybe the start of this half of which have been shipped out now. Still not really getting full bang for the buck I grant you.

You do understand that those were last years accounts, don't you? You know what a financial year is?

Those are the accounts posted from between March 2015 and April 2016. This years budget has no impact whatsoever on them.

Do you realise that is a very sad post by yourself.
Genuine football fans don't wish bad on other teams but only good for their own.
There will be a FGR team playing football for many years to come.

That wage bill is about £1 million more than Rovers spent last year, surprisingly high.

That wage bill is bigger than the vast majority of league 2, as well as a significant number in L1.

Crazy stuff.

Oh, is that how it works?...
Of course it's last year's figures, but a club that's gunning for promotion (at all costs?) is hardly gonna slash its playing budget dramatically. There's only the Jovial one that seems to have a balanced view - every other FGR fan seems to be in denial about the lack of return for the money spent.

The evidence for Lincoln's playing budget? It's anecdotal, but you only have to look at the size of the squad and make an educated guess to know that it's significantly less than £2 million.
FGR will still be spending a similar amount to previous seasons - Noble ain't on the cheap, for example.

On the point about being average - in the last 10 games (a long enough period of time to judge any team), you've won twice. If you think you've got a good team, then that's your opinion, but I don't share it.

I don't think anyone would disagree with you there.

If we started spunking money in League One and just said that it was fine because once we got to the Premier League we'd be in profit would that make it ok?

Why hasn't anyone thought of doing that before?! It's almost as though artificially inflating a football club with cash doesn't end up being sustainable or realistic in the long term. Surely not...

Mind early doors when we got eight points clear (edit or was it nine? either way we fucked it up) we had several comments we were the best team the opp had played etc. Think the home loss against Lincoln derailed us, set Cooper tinkering and criticising and led to discontent in the camp. As I said on the day, the late win against you might have the opposite effect and tie the new squad together for a good run in. But it was and is a decent squad, think it's more about Cooper making his mind up, sticking with it and getting them to come along, not a problem the Cowleys have had which is his downfall.

Dale Vince seems to think he can carry the cost of getting us there and then let it level out. As I say, not how I'd have gone about it but the growth in home crowds etc seem to say his model might work. Another four play off failures mind, and not so much.

Yes FGR have won twice in last ten games and once of those was at Barrow but the title is not decided on ten games but full season.
That is not an opinion but fact.
And Barrow with their American based multi-millionaire backer should be fighting to be included in the end of season play-offs, not as they are currently - outside that group. So be careful having a pop at FGR because people in glass houses ...............
