Decent game down at Maidstone yesterday. Southport were much the better side first half for me, and started the second brightly too. Once it went 3-2, Stones were pretty comfortable really, could've scored a few more late on. Thought Paxman, Loza and Lokko were the standouts for the Stones, apologies but I know next to nothing about the Southport team so can't really rate them. Whoever it was that crossed for their first had cracking delivery all afternoon though.

As an aside, the new stand is looking impressive, and the crowd was good yesterday too. Be interesting to see whether the attendances grow when the new stand is opened or whether they'll stay around the 2400 mark (which is still pretty good).

For this season at least they'll get bigger, since we still have the visits of Sutton, Lincoln, and Tranmere to come - sides that will bring good away numbers and also attract more locals.

On that note..what allocation are we likely to get?

Not sure yet, since we don't know how the new stand will be segregated. I'd think unless it's a potential title decider for you, you'll get enough, maybe upwards of a thousand if need be.

I've never seen a team start time wasting after only 10-15 minutes till today......truly bizarre from Southport.

Horrible team to play against. Play every game trying to get a 0-0. Go to ground to get a free kick at every opportunity and take 5 minutes for each set piece.

Does anyone know if the person choosing the Non League Paper team of the week is a Guiseley fan? Might just be me but seems their manager is picked as manager of the week every time they win. Take nothing away from their win against Torquay but there were more impressive results this weekend.

Always wondered how they pick the team of the week considering no one could have watched more than 1 or 2 of the 12 games.

Hadn't noticed how close it was between the two Welsh teams in our league.

Wrexham 6 pts ahead of Chester, with a poorer GD and having played a game more.. Tense finish for those two.

To be fair I think he deserves it, doing a great job there. If they had this form from the off they surely be outside the play offs

Over the last few months he has done well there, but for me Solihull drawing at Dover was much more impressive than Guiseley winning at a Torquay side who seem to be imploding on and off the pitch

That had me going as well. I even wrote to newspaper for an explanation. The replied it is to do with marks that the reporters award.
I'm sure what they do is have a rigid 3-4-3 system and fit the best point scoring players into that system.
I'm not sure what the NLP do if more than one players is awarded same high score. Possibly they go back to the team's success.
I've yet to know of an occasion when more than two team-mates were included in their Team of the Day.
And to refer to the earlier query about Guiseley. I was surprised that Maxted was in team as he was awarded a 7 in newspaper and conceded a goal. Nine other goalkeepers kept a clean sheet including the Bromley and Aldershot goalkeepers who were both awarded a 7.
Aldershot v Lincoln was their Star Game but only Callum Reynolds (Aldershot) was included in TOTD.

You're inferring we have a game plan, ergo you are wrong. We're just soft and clueless.

Would seem a bit strange giving the manager of the week award for a meaningless 0-0 draw for a mid table team though.

They go off the match ratings given by whoever is covering it for the NLP. For us, for example, I think it's a bloke who writes for the programme that also writes the match report for the NLP. If there's players on an equal rating, they will look at if they got a goal/kept a clean sheet/picked up MOM etc, and also whether they feature prominently in the match report, and also take into account the team's achievement in that particular game.

I know someone who used to cover conference north games in Yorkshire for NLP, and it all seemed a bit haphazard. With regards to the manager, I think it's just based on who got the "result of the weekend".

Just seen highlights of our game.. Not only was the "penalty" outside box, Evan Horwood blatantly dived. Was already going to ground before our players got near him.

Would love to hear the Chester managers thoughts on that after claiming the big clubs intimidate refs. Seems to be the complete opposite, that they want to make a name for themselves by making big/bad decisions against those clubs.

Noticed that.....the foul took place at least a yard outside the box although I did think it was a foul. Can't re-check as I've deleted my recording.

Bit of a howler from the York 'keeper, but Eastleigh got done twice on exactly the same throw-in and what their defender is going for the third I have no idea. No urgency to defend that at all!

From the side view definitely looked a foul....from behind, debatable. Mind you we have the benefit of replays, the ref has to make an instant decision so I wouldn't condemn him for it.

No but I do blame Horwood for being a cheat. Him being an awful excuse of a footballer is part of the reason we are in this league.

We must be due a few rubbish decisions to go in our favour by now.

Standard 'toe stub' dive, and I've watched it in slo-mo many times! I can forgive the referee for awarding a foul, but not the linesman for saying it was a penalty.

That Chester penalty award was laughable but it's still not as bad as Woking having a goal disallowed against Braintree for offside when the pass came from a Braintree player!

Must admit on first viewing it's not that easy to see whether or not it's inside or outside. However from the linesman's view it's pretty straightforward. Still, Tranmere won so it doesn't really matter.

Oh no, come on now, that's unfair. Let's not start mentioning how the plucky, 'unpopular' part-timers get consistently reffed out of games by the National League every week. This is all about hard done by Tranmere.
