We've got a good group of young players at the club now, both the youth players who have come through and players like Rea, Marriott and McGeehan who we have acquired from other clubs

Really looking forward to seeing how they all develop and hope people give them a bit of time. Some possible starting 11 combinations could be very young indeed.

You can't win anything with kids...

Will there be a younger first XI in the division this season?

We've signed Tom Dallison on a 6 month loan from Brighton. A left sided CB who will probably be back up.

Just had a look at what I think the starting XI will be on August 6th and came up with an average age of exactly 24. Could potentially be even lower depending on who the final signing is and if one of the youth can win themselves a starting berth during pre-season (I'm thinking James Justin has got the best chance of doing so as it stands).

It would be great if we could keep most of this group together for a few years. Bound to make a few quid on them sooner or later.

I did exactly the same and it came to 25, but down to 23 if you include the subs (inc 3 teenagers). This would never have happened on any of our previous managers post Newell.

The final signing possibly could be Jake Gray, who is only 20 too.

We signed him on loan last season. He played one game where he looked very good but he broke his toe (or some part of his foot) in the game and had to go back to Brighton.

One game is not enough to make a proper judgement but he may end up more than a back up for you.

Good to get your feedback on him. Having read up a little more about him and the fact other clubs, including league one clubs were in for him, you could be right about just being back up. Looks a good signing.

Seems like we've got Moses Emmanuel on trial, striker who was at Bromley last season. Also interested in Jobi McAnuff - would have thought he'd be out of our price range though.

Emmanuel would be a poor signing from what I've seen.

McAnuff would be a genuine game changer. *Controversial opinion* I thought he was probably our best player last season. Technically and mentally a complete cut above.

Reliable bloke on our forum reckons Charlton Athletic have made a £200,000 bid for Jay Simpson.

Is that all. I would be dissapointed if we weren't interested at that price.

There's no two ways about it, it is utter bullshit. Leeds let him go for his £1.5m wage demands, who in the right mind can see him coming here? There's rumours and there's pure made up bullshit, that somehow our fans actually believe.
Yes, at the pinnacle of his career.

Since then, he's had unsuccessful spells at every club he's been at. That's not to say that I don't think a L1 club would take a gamble on him given his past successes, but obviously he's in no position to be commanding anything like that sort of wage.

I thought Bristol Rovers were skint. Couldn't pay £50k for Gaffney "apparently".

We have been taken over by a wealthy new owner. Just managed to keep Matty Taylor so yeah we've got a couple of shekels to chuck about.
Or a couple of dinars...
I'm so glad we're owned by actual fans rather than someone who bought the wrong team in Bristol.

I'm happy that you're happy. Good luck for the coming season. You deserve some luck after your troubles.

How long has he got left on that ridiculous contract? He's probably going to have to be a bit more realistic in his next deal.

Don't know about his existing contract, but I would have thought £5k a week over 3 years wouldn't be beyond a stretch. Add in a signing on fee, various bonuses and employer NI, and you'd be north of a million over that time.

That's what we are apparently paying Matty Taylor so it's not impossible but it's unlikely unless we lose a couple of strikers. Excellent player though.

Crawley announce the signing of Andre Blackman. He must have the best agent in football. Truly awful left back.

Well I have seen him in action against two minnow sides and have to say he didn't particularly impress me but he did get a good review from our manager after our defence let in four goals against Brighton

I'm concerned about our defence and central midfield. We are very inexperienced at the back and a bit static in the central midfield. Still in Dermot we (must) trust.

McAnuff to stevenage

Happy with that. I thought the rumours were BS when I first read he was signing, thought he was out of league financially. Can't remember us having a current international on playing for us before, I'm sure the novelty will wear off when he's missing every couple of months.
