Wrong again.

Sometimes you've got to get your priorities right though.

We're going places as a club, and I'm going to fucking enjoy it.
That right there, 'though', clear admission and you know it.

Dictatorship and Stockholm syndrome.

Out of interest Blueandwite, what would you do at this point if you were an FGR fan?

I'm not saying you should do anything. It's not like I've said the stadium move is a bad idea. But it's clear to me that it's his club and not yours, you'll go along with anything whether you like it or not.

Not sure what all the fuss is about here, other than the usual FGR/Dale Vince bashing. As a stadium design goes, I think it's first rate. Different, not a soulless concrete bowl, distinctive and environmentally friendly. For the Chester fan above calling it naff, you have been to the Deva haven't you, a more cold concrete and steel identikit lash up I haven't seen.

Eh, what's that got to do with anything?

Can Wrexham, Tranmere and Lincoln fans only comment on this thread boasting about a new stadium because they are the only ones with fairly decent grounds themselves? :conf:

Of course, you miss the point. I was just pointing out the irony of a Chester fan calling an innovative design naff, when the Deva is the very epitome of the word.

I agree. I said before in another thread that it looks quite smart.

Make the stadium big and they'll get abuse for having ideas above their station and make it smaller they're tinpot. I know it's fun to take the piss out of FGR but I think they're doing the right thing.

Oh right...err..ok...I suppose you're right. :err:

I agree with the size, but given that I just think it'll end up looking too grand. Just an off the cuff comment that it might look a bit naff as a result.

Sigh.

A ground in a field off the M5 isnt very eco-friendly. No public transport?

Have you tried taking public transport to The New Lawn? About one slow bus an hour. Frequent B uses to the new ground beside a business park with up to 4000 jobs is a much more financially viable option for the local bus company than our current ground (despite its beautiful location), which is at the end of the line. About will be about 25min walk to the west Stonehouse train station, which the local MP is working to get reopened. Will miss The New Lawn though, not sure a more picturesque setting exists in football.

Don't get out of Gloucestershire much?

There are plenty of web sites for the stunning grounds around Europe and I always wanted to do a game at Inverness.

Even Wycombe's industrial estate tops the New Lawn for scenic distractions but I'll offer you:

and for those who like their scenery a bit more rugged - sunsets or Golden Eye and Smew on the neighbouring reservoir

Like the pictures above, but at how many grounds outside South America can you see Llamas in a field when you arrive for a game?

They're actually more interested in following cycling, especially the Tour de France.

Ah right, well it doesn't look anything like their ground!
True... and the approach and immediate surroundings are pretty crap as well. I was pushing the envelope (lying) to make the point about the view once you're inside and avoiding watching the "football" on offer. Reality wasn't helping.

I'm more surprised that no one pulled me up for pushing Holker Street and the Abbey as "picturesque." It's all in the eye of the beholder.

Holker Street and the Abbey both have iconic floodlight pylons that are probably on their last legs but help them look like "proper" grounds.
