Thought Halifax were comfortably the better side last night, especially in the first half. Seen them a couple of times now, and (albeit on a small sample) they look better than all but one of the 7-8 conference sides I have seen this year (sorry but the one is FGR!!)
I assume the performance from D&R is due to missing players...1 win in 6 recently does not surprise me

Very right, we was always going to struggle once we had injuries, suspensions and players away on international duty. We have a tiny squad and the squad we do have are very inexperienced and incredibly young.

We will do well to get in the play offs but I feel it will be the one and only chance to go up for the forseeable.

Probably unrealistically and certainly uncharacteristically bullish for this one after the performance, as much as the result, at Crawley - and we're usually half decent away from the Abbey. Can't find many others making the trip but I'm sure the faithful will scrape 3 figures, even though it's on telly and nearly in France.

It's a tough game to call but given that we have no midfield, Parkinson is suspended, Magri has played 2 internationals this week (not even sure he's available) and Moore still cup-tied I think you should have enough to beat us.

Tbf the romance of the Cup isn't completely dead, as was witnessed on Tuesday as the plucky postmen, bricklayers and binmen of Halifax stunned National League giants Dagenham. A truly extraordinary achievement which will be forever etched on the memories of the (few) supporters of the Fax.

Next up they'll attempt another giantkilling against a side with crowds, finances and players that the small yorkshire town could only ever dream of having.

Can't argue with that. If it wasn't for Walker we'd have been about 3-0 down at half time so can't be too critical.

Absolutely gutted we couldn't hold on for a couple of minutes more, but in truth the best side did win, and the score could have been a lot worse than it was. We were undoubtedly kept in it by the heroics of Mitch Walker, how ironic did it turn out to be then when, without being too condemning on the lad, he was at fault for three of the four goals, and the spill for the equaliser was almost a carbon copy of the one he shipped in the first tie.
Not that it affected the result, but even allowing for his goal, which surely hand a touch of handball about it,I thought Miller tried far too hard to impress, and our midfield alas wouldn't have impressed if they had played for another ninety minutes.
But no-one can knock the individual or team effort nor commitment the lads put in, and that effort, on it's own was nearly enough, and what a volley from Thomas, but like Gillingham the night before our achilles heel proved once again to be our defending, or probably more accurately, lack of concentration when defending and our goal was certainly living a charmed life.
Not to disappoint Le Whites and lets see if he wishes to put up a case to the contrary, and I invite opinions from others here, because yes I am going to criticise Kinnear (again) as his insistence on bringing everyone back at every opportunity without a single outlet, simply invited more and more pressure and it heavily and directly contributed to our extra time down fall.
If you are under orders to just hoof the ball clear without any one to get on the end of those hoofs, somneone who could at least try and close the balls down, it's just going to come straight back. Why is he the only one that can't see that, you do really wonder what the hell does he think will happen?
I also think it was madness to keep Lafayette on past ninety minutes, he had a very good game, but like many others he had run himself into the ground and was out on his feet, the decision was even more unfathomable as we had a 20 goal striker sitting ion the bench to replace him.
Would either have made any difference though, probably not, but would have been good to find out as we do this a lot and it has cost us on numerous occasions

Saturday is going to be really hard now and many players will undoubtedly be suffering from and after last nights heroics and efforts. Is it unfair to play again so quickly. Probably, but I suppose such occurrences are beyond our control and the silver dollar compensation will always come in handy. Gutted but still proud of the boys though, and if your give your all no one can moan, and they certainly gave their all, just wasn't good enough on the day

Whilst I agree with regards to the 11 men behind the ball crap, Cambridge's 2nd (or maybe 3rd) goal came from Lafayette and Fazakerly rushing towards the ball and us being cut open by a through ball - wouldn't have happened had they stayed back.

When we have a player who can hold the ball up as well as Lafayette it makes no sense to not leave him on the half way line as an outlet. Especially given that Cambridge had 10 men attacking every set piece.

With Parkinson and Moore in the side we'd have won.

That lump up front for Cambridge is absolutely dire.
