Watching Kermode uncut speaking about those in the film industry that whenever you watch a film by them you know you'll hate. However, it is quite difficult as even the most shite actors or directors usually have something on their CV that is pretty decent.

Is there anyone out there whose entire body of work do you think is just completely awful.

Ryan Gosling. He's in good films but I'm never impressed with his work. Tries far too hard to look broody and cool.

Kevin James.
He was specifically mentioned in Kermode's blog funnily enough, but was given a pass for his voice work in Hotel Transylvania (which I haven't seen tbh).

I think it is difficult sometimes when you see an actor or director and write them off before you've watched their latest stuff, and will have bias towards that film due to their involvement.

I for example cannot stand Jim Broadbent and think he is the same in everything, yet I freely admit to liking a lot of films he's been in, so I kind of let him off because of those films! I detest Michael Bay films over the last decade, but quite liked Bad Boys and The Rock (which I actually thought was terrific at the time).

I know what you mean, but I quite like him tbh and though I agree he has never excelled in performance, I feel he does have presence and star quality, which can count for a lot.

George Clooney is another like Gosling for me, he's been in good films but I tend to hate the ones they get star billing in. I actively avoid Clooney's.

Jennifer Garner. I'm going to exclude her cameo in "Catch Me If You Can".

Have you seen The Nice Guys? I thought the same about Gosling until I watched it. I haven't seen Drive yet, apparently he's very good in it too.

Directors - Michael Bay, James Cameron, Tim Burton
Actors/actresses - Shia LeBeouf, Megan Fox, George Clooney (though I did enjoy Up In The Air).

Ha, my friend told me last night to watch it and I said I don't want to because of Gosling. He said it was mint regardless. Will check it out.

Drive (and Only God Forgives) are the apogee of broody Gosling staring moodily into the middle distance. He's less an actor than a piece of landscape in those films, or an occasionally stirring sculpture. Tho I would posit also that the "trying too hard" thing is part of the point there too.

Sergio Leone - not keen on westerns generally, but spaghetti westerns in particular. While I'm on the case, Clint Eastwood generally leaves me cold.

He's also the same in Gangster Squad and The Place Beyond the Pines.

Similar to Renegade's choice of Michael Bay in that 95% of what they have inflicted on the world is vacuous shite.

Al Pacino.

Someone needs to let him know that the quality of his acting doesn't increase with the volume of his shouting.

Brad Pitt as he looks bored in every film he's in with Troy being a fine example.

Adam Sandler. Had a couple of decent hits, but it's been pretty much 95% garbage throughout his career. Why studios and TV outlets keep giving him money to churn out garbage is beyond me.

Whilst I think there he does decent action set pieces, the movies of Michael Bay are generally terrible.
