Depends what you mean by 'get away with it'. You didn't hire JoMo in 2013 because of his abysmal behaviour (according to some reports).

Perhaps, but if he's here and he's winning he'll have United fans defending his actions, or twisting them to infer some deeper meaning.

Would you be happy with a short term manager though? What about all this rebuilding lark we constantly hear about them?

He's not going to be hired with a view for the short term, even though his career would suggest otherwise. Hopefully he can settle at United.

Moyes didn't last a season and Van Gaal was only going to be 3 years maximum, which he won't last. It was a nice idyllic view they could replace Ferguson with someone who could be there for 20 years but in reality it was just a pipe dream.

There's quite a few pipe dreams floating about regarding post Ferguson United. Another one I've seen argued by United fans is that someone like Mourinho wouldn't fit the ethos because he doesn't bring youth through into the side. Well when was the last time they did that to any effect? Their entire first 11 are bought players. Lingard is the only youth player that's really featured and that's been down to the poor performances of the first choice 11 not down to a player coming from the youth setup that looks like he's actually got the quality to be a Utd starter.
So basically who do they have? Who have they had? Fergies class of '92 came around a long time ago and people seem to be under this illusion that United kept bringing youth through under Ferguson, but they did it once. After Giggs, Beckham, the Nevilles, Scholes and Butt, when did United ever produce young players that regularly went into their starting lineup? There was never a group like that again. There was never a duo like that again. Any individuals? Could have had Paul Pogba, but that didn't go too well did it? So you're left with Fletcher, a decent if not spectacular player who did well, especially in big matches. So there's 1. John O'Shea, a jack of all trades who basically filled in wherever was needed but isn't exactly a world beater. Aaaaand Wes Brown. A defender who couldn't get a game at CB though in fairness the competition was hard, but ended up filling in at right back before eventually washing up at Sunderland with the other Manchester outcast. So 3 players entering the fray in different season.
Now if there's more I must be forgetting them, which in itself is probably testament to how good they are/were. So since 92 it's been slim pickings really, so where has this idea come from that Man Utd are all about bringing through youth, just because they've done it once in the last 25 years or so? Every club brings up a player or 2, hell even Chelsea still have Terry, Man City have Hart. Who do Utd have? Nobody. So why is the idea that Mourinho won't do something that United clearly aren't doing anyway some kind of point against him?

As Welbeck was deemed not good enough for Man Utd I left him out.

By the way I'm fully aware that Man Utd have fielded a number of young players this season, McNair probably the most after Lingard, but those appearances were somewhat forced. They haven't been brought into the side because they've been deemed at a level to introduce to the first 11, they've been played because there's been little alternative thanks to a combination of injuries and dogshit displays.

In this modern day and age the big English teams will very rarely bring a quality player through, the league is too competitive for them to be able to do that. That is why the likes of Southampton can do it without the pressure of instant performances and results.

You talk a lot of sense JimJams but Hart is a Shrewsbury product not a City one.

Does Joe Hart even count? They bought him and 2 years later he was playing for England.

Shame Bilo fucked off, he had Van Gaal being a terrible choice that would end in tears before he'd even walked through the Old Trafford front door.

Van Gaal should have gone weeks back, his style of football alone should be enough for United fans to ask questions, even when the results were decent. Now they're losing, they need to take action. I don't buy this bullocks that they should give him until the end of the season, it could easily be the difference between Champions League and Europa next season. Is anyone confident United will finish top 4 under Van Gaal?

Pathetic 'holier than thou' newspaper. None of their journalists had the balls to say this yesterday when they all sat around LVG like scared schoolchildren. The cowards won't even put their name to it now (Apollo Gees...come on?). That's not journalism, it's the sort of thing an angsty teenager would write. This kind of treatment is akin to bullying. Should expect none better from that rag, of course.

Moyes never lost 4 in a row, but we have to take into consideration the very difficult situation LVG was put in. He will be departing Manchester United having put them in a much better position for success than fraudulent Moyes.

How much of that is down to the current weakness of the league though?

If anything, doesn't that support my point about Moyes and LVG? Worst ever 18 gane start for Manchester United in the premier league era.

Besides, the league is nowhere near as weak as this cliche - the top teams aren't the pinnacle of Europe, sure, but top to bottom this is one of the most talented editions of

Really? Cast out Angel Di Maria? Sent out two proper strikers in favour of playing Fellaini up front? Spent a lot of money on players, but how many of his signings are truly influential? I don't see how he has set up this United team for success of any kind.

Dunno what he's supposed to do when the players act like they've never seen a football. I hope they appoint Giggs, it'll be sooo funny.
