The final games of the regular season then, playoffs aside.

TUESDAY 2ND MAY
Shrewsbury Town v Bristol Rovers

WEDNESDAY 3RD MAY
Burton Albion v Cambridge United

SUNDAY 7TH MAY
Barnsley v Peterborough United
Bristol Rovers v Bolton Wanderers
Burton Albion v Milton Keynes Dons
Cambridge United v Forest Green Rovers
Cheltenham Town v Charlton Athletic
Exeter City v Morecambe
Fleetwood Town v Ipswich Town
Lincoln City v Shrewsbury Town
Oxford United v Accrington Stanley
Port Vale v Plymouth Argyle
Portsmouth v Wycombe Wanderers
Sheffield Wednesday v Derby County

This week, I will mostly be supporting Cambridge (Weds/Sun) and Burton (Sun).

Not really arsed about who takes the title or makes the playoffs right now, though it'd be funny if Posh don't.

Will I be watching our final game of the season? Will I fuck.

Counting down the minutes until I next get to see us in action. It’s always such a joy.

Are Sky televising any of these games? Suppose with Plymouth going for the title it might mean our game is on in that case, means a bit extra cash at least if so. Not that I particularly care but think Plymouth would be worthy champions if they do it. Suspect we’ll give a couple more of our academy lads a run out in this one.

More interested in how the relegation battle plays out ultimately, my money is on MK.

I'd like to think there was more interest in the relegation spot, so we could get shown.
Hope so, that lot have been on the box enough this season...

Looking forward to it now the pressure is off, would be the most Vale thing ever to do what we have this season and do our only double against a side going up and we have had a hoodoo on them.

Guess a lot depends on how we approach it, we’ve been on the beach for months so can’t imagine the effort now it’s finally a dead rubber!

Give Planty another start, he’s looking the real deal so far and need to blood him, if Worrall is to leave I hope Vale announce it before this so he can get a proper send off.

Should be a decent occasion, 4000 away fans, Lorne Street and Railway sold out and the Paddock limited tickets left so just the Bycars with any availability and with a week of sales to go should see that fairly well populated for its final game as a home end before the swap… Plymouth are lucky as next season they’d get 2500 max in there!

Interesting to see how the after match stuff is handled, obviously we had bad press and a warning after the scenes in the Play Off semi final so imagine it will be policed to the eye balls to prevent the away fans invading at the end! Sad it’s come to that in this day and age though thanks to some idiots who ruin it for everyone else.

Can we repeat last seasons party pooping of Devonian title celebrations? Pressure is off at least for us.

It feels an opportune time to reflect now, with our good friends at Burton Albion, about the fun we had in April 2009.

Last day of the season.. you threw away a lead against Torquay to lose 2-1, when you only needed a point for promotion. So distraught were your pals at Cambridge that we refused to score against Altrincham, drawing 0-0 and nobly waving you on to the title.

On the (sort of) 14 year anniversary of that selfless act, why don't you take it easy on Wednesday. You deserve to rest up after another successful season.

But don't let yourselves down - put in a massive shift on Sunday to show how professional you are.

What a day that was. Thought we had screwed it up only for you to draw. Still not sure how it happened. We limped over the line.
Don’t worry about taking it easy Wednesday- you have a great record against us, so in reality you will win or draw anyway….

on the one hand we shouldn't be playing a weaker team when there's something riding on the game for other teams. on the other, i don't think starting plant weakens our team on current form, especially seen as he started at ipswich the other night. mcdermott, as much as I'd like to see him given a chance, i don't think should start this game.

Don’t want to put too much pressure on Planty but he looks the dogs, probably Sam Morsy the last youth lad we’ve had come through that looks as good? Obviously rave reviews from the Youth Side that’s done so well this year in the FAYC and he looked better than any of the Liverpool lads that night and had rave reviews on loan at Nantwich and Salisbury. Immense against Ipswich despite being on his debut and out of position and then scored today after by all accounts coming off the bench and turning our performance level if not defending around.

Exciting to see how he does next season, would like to see him actually play his best position next weekend!

For most of us Ipswich fans (and presumably for Plymouth and Wednesday fans) it was all about promotion. Getting out of this league was the core and sole objective.

I would of course like the title too as I think we’re a fantastic team but Plymouth clearly are as well. I am a strong advocate in the ‘the table doesn’t lie’ mantra. If they beat Port Vale, I certainly won’t begrudge them. And for us e
we've achieved what we set out to anyway.

All that said, if it’s as we’ve been saying for weeks, 99% about promotion and 1% the title… now I would ideally like to see Vale get a result and the cherry get put on the cake if we can beat Fleetwood. But if not, I’m still absolutely delighted with second.

i remember the 1-5 v plymouth when they won the title in the early 2000s and just thinking how much they'd blown us away that day, wasn't sad or bitter or anything just thinking wow they were superb.david friio tore us to bits.

obviously another one of them may be on the cards but there's a reason most vale fans are more confident playing plymouth than we are playing an accrington or morecambe  it would be classic vale if we go and do the double over them, not tht it matters to us either way now

We have been losing most weeks anyway with first team players playing so I couldn't give a fuck if we put the youth team out. Playing worrall Massey Taylor conlon not going learn anything from putting them in the team so for me play plant McDermott Walters and put a couple other of the youth team on the bench and see if there any good or not.

Harsh on Worrall. IF it's his last game he deserves a good send off. He's one player no one can criticise for lack of effort.

Il be crestfallen if Wozza goes, what a legend, gave us everything through the dark times and the great ones last season. I hope he gets a new deal but the club need to allow us to send him off with a great farewell if not.

Be the cherry on top of the cake if we manage to get 101 points and win the league.. but the cake is just fine without the cherry if not. What a season.

I wouldn't be bothered if worrall went as he's a player on the decline now. Going forward he would be a good signing for a league 2 club. He's been a good servant to the club and gives his all but he's not what he used to be. His legs have gone, he picks up lots of niggly injuries and seems he can't play more than 60 mins in a match or 2 games in a week.

If they show one it will either be you v Plymouth or Sheff Wed v Derby I reckon.

Burton will be deciding the relegation battle, they could send one or both of Cambridge or MK down. For me, if Cambridge win tomorrow they'll stay up.

Yeah based on that I’d imagine Wednesday v Derby is the more marketable game for the casual viewer even if it’s a dead one for Wednesday.

In terms of excitement level to me I’d be focusing on the relegation scrap, that’s one where there’s a few permutations involved and could see the live table change multiple times during the 90 minutes.

If Plymouth and Ipswich both win we'll match the national league by having the top two break the 100 point barrier

Sorry, but Derby v Wednesday is a waste of a spot for me. Much better showing a relegation or escape

I agree but it’s whether Sky will. Their track record says don’t hold your breath waiting.

I can’t imagine Sky televising Burton v MK, Cambridge v us or Exeter v Morecambe instead of a title or playoff deciding game.

I think in terms of the playoff implications as well as I hate to say it Sky will look at big crowd etc and choose that. They're not really interested in what will appeal to us more their advertisers. The title on the line I'm a bit less sure of as to be honest once you get promotion to me I find it a nice to have but not going to lose any sleep if you don't win it type of thing. When we went to Exeter last season one of our players in a podcast commented they could tell from the Exeter players early on that they weren't overly interested in the title and played on that during the game.

Didn’t he say some of their players were moaning to the referee to blow full time!

As expected due to the big club love in but the relegation deciders would have been more interesting.

Like I said they are predictable with that shit. I’d much rather the relegation battle for the drama but it’s what they think sells commercially. Wait until next season with Wrexham, guarantee their league cup first round tie will be on there.

I’m glad we’re not on. Imagine us being in the box seat for Sunday then going down with a 1-0 defeat at home to Forest Green. Would make absolutely compelling viewing for the neutral. At least games featuring the play off teams should be half decent games. And hopefully Boro will get smashed too.
