I suspect (PRAY) that lvg will be gone regardless, the fans wouldn't have it and it'd pile pressure on the team from day 1 next season.

I think most would agree that it'd be far more HILARIOUS should the OVERRATED (possibly OUTDATED) pep miss out on CL footy, a scenario he most definitely would not have considered when signing on the dotted lines with Etihad fc.

Saying that I've no confidence of us getting a result at the Boleyn in what will be a massive occassion for West Ham. We'll have to want it more than them, and that Norwich performance was without pretty much everything we'd need. But then again, as Nilsson said, stranger things have happened.

The United board aren't going to sack a manager without someone coming in who would be an improvement. And who is there out there at the moment who is out of work or who they could entice away from their current role? I'm with Stevencc in suspecting he's sticking around for another season regardless. Although I accept there is an element of wishful thinking there that could be influencing my prediction.

I thought it'd go to the last day but that Arsenal would be the team we battled with. My opinion on our chances of making it in remain unchanged, we've been given so many chances all season but have buckled every time it really matters. I see tomorrow being no different.

And Liverpool?
i dunno Salty i think people will have worked you out a bit by then........ and i stand by my comment last Autumn you can't play full throttle every week without a unbelievable squad in the Prem.

Maybe goofy will know that too and change styles to accommodate.

You'll be defo top 8...............what we all want to know is ............is that enough to stop you changing allegiances?

I still hold a little bit of hope that PSG will have a brain fart, sack blanc to bring in JM and united can get Blanc in, who i think is a much better choice.

Fantastic result for Spam. City now just need a draw against Swansea and they're guaranteed top 4 at United's expense. And who doesn't want that?

People that want van Gaal to stay on, presumably.

Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.
With Moyes they waited until CL was impossible before sacking him. Perhaps there's a clause making it a lot cheaper to bin him off.

But I doubt they would a few days before the cup final!

I'm still unconvinced they will get rid regardless, despite deserving the sack if he misses out on the top 4. It hinges on a clear improvement being available, and there simply isn't at the moment. If this turns out to be true, it's actually a little sad (read funny) that one of the world's biggest clubs is having to make do with a mediocre manager because there is no one free out there that makes the grade.

So City drawing and, short of United winning their last game by 19 goals, that's Van Gaal confirmed to somehow managing to finish outside the top 4 despite a truly ridiculous amount spent.

Please keep him on.

How do people view their season compared to other CL qualifying sides? Is it better/more of a success to get CL qualification and a major trophy but finish lower in the league than it is to finish 2nd/3rd/4th?

Difficult. Personally, I'd sooner win the Europa and finish 8th than finish 4th and have nothing, it's a trophy in the cabinet and that's what's important at the end of the day. In terms of what it means next season the difference is minimal.

It's a failure because it's the bare minimum requirement. I wouldn't have been happy with just scraping in this season either, the target was title challenge. If we win the FA Cup the season is still a failure.

United won't challenge for the title with Van Gaal in charge, never mind win it. And that was obvious back in August despite the top 4 finish.

Oh god, if Liverpool win the Europa then I'd take their season every time. They've had an awesome cup run and will be able to celebrate a trophy. We've had a shit season, come 2nd and won nothing. Maybe it's not a sign of a better team, but it's a lot more exciting.

It's not likely with shit-for-brains in charge. But that is what was expected of him this season.

I wasn't referring to Utd and winning the FA cup as you won't get in the CL that way. Just asking about which would be seen as the best or more succesful way of qualifying for the Champions League. Either 2/3/4 or outside the 4 and winning the Europa. Essentially Arsenal Spurs and Citys season vs Liverpools if they win the competition as they all get the same reward for next season (assuming City get through the qualifiers) but Liverpool lift a European trophy in this.

Definitely Liverpool's. Still an embarrassing league campaign though.
