Mods, you need to create some space on the 1FF servers, because this thread could run to several petabytes.

There's a fair amount of anticipation for this game. Both teams are doing well (well Hartlepool have some decent draws in an unbeaten run they're on and seem to be fairly exciting to follow). I imagine there should be a good crowd, with plenty of Poolies, and maybe our largest home following of the season. We could get around 5,000 in.

One person who will definitely be among that attendance will be Craig Hignett, who has a touchline ban.:told:

Shoddy we're 3rd in the league and unbeaten and at home against some shitty average no hopers, so we should win rather comfortably.

What else is there to say?

Unfortunately I can't attend this game.

This is the second league game of this season that I've missed. Cambridge away was the other one.

Looking forward to this game, really should be getting a good attendance after our unbeaten start, and there'll be some away fans for once.

It'll probably be a tough game, what with it Hartlepool's cup final, and they'll rise to the occasion. Despite a couple of poorer home performances, we've still picked up 3 points.

I think we'll win, and there should be 7000+ in attendance.

You woolly backs are desperate for some sort of rivalry with us aren't you? An entire week before kick off and you're already creaming yourselves, most Poolies aren't arsed about Carlisle in any shape or form and never have been. The only people who care are the pond life who travel for a scrap.

So you'll only be bringing 300 fans then will you?

On a more serious note though it will be nice to have a decent away crowd, we've only had southern teams and Accrington visit Brunton Park in the league this season.

LOL way to take a year+ old tweet totally out of context!

What bearing does the number of away fans have like? Considering that Carlisle is the 2nd closest away game we have this year it doesn't take much to work out we probably will have a decent following, we'll take a load to Donny when we play them, but we certainly aren't rivals!

Your only hope of gaining a derby is for Barra! to get themselves back in the league, same goes for us with Darlo.

We're creaming ourselves because after looking at our fixture list, we see a nice PISS EASY home match coming up, it has nothing to do with rivalry. Sorry but your club is a bit too small to be rivalled with us.

A cup final is a cup final, not as if it was a key end of season game.

While it's not a huge rivalry, there's certainly more intensity than every other regular league game for us, and probably you lot too.

Every season we go through this bollocks about who cares more about this game than the other. It's obviously Carlisle because they've never had a proper derby, we all know that.

Yes we take a good crowd with us to BP but as another Poolie pointed out, it's probably because it's the closest away game. I admit I don't like losing to Carlisle but the feeling of disappointment only lasts until the morning after the game. There's an edge to our games and it does kick off at times so it would be stupid to say from our side that these games are as significant as Newport at home.

It's funny, you lot mention the word "rivalry" when talking about this fixture more than us!

In fact you are the first person in this thread to bring up the subject. :ffs:  Think about it, if you're capable.

I notice the Poolie Bunker servers have gone down... someone probably started the predictions thread on there and the site crumbled under the increased traffic.

Press CTRL and F and you'll find that both CUFC 17 and Carver mentioned it before him. Both Carlisle fans.

Think about that, if you're capable.

Good. At least we've finally confirmed that you take this 'rivalry' (OMFG I just said it!!!!!) more seriously than us. Sarcasm doesn't really come across on the internet.

Now on to the game....

Err well I actually said that you were too small of a club to be our rivals, so NO I didn't bring it up, it was Chief Rocka that brought it up to begin with.

So tell me, are you looking forward to Saturday?

Well I thought it was Chief Rocka rather than you Soup who HG meant was the first to call it a rivalry.

I'm glad it's not one as in local derbies the smaller team often have a good record against the bigger team

That aside I think with the crowd Hartlepool will bring, added to the fact they're not a bad side we'll need to be more professional to get a win, should still manage it on paper.

You still mentioned it though Carver, if we're going to play Hellogregory's game. Yes I completely agree we're far too small to be your 'rivals' (i've put it in inverted commas to heaven forbid say that we are rivals or anything), that's why we've played each other 100 times or so in our history. We are a historically unsuccessful club so you have achieved more in the game, a long time ago albeit, so congrats on that. But bar the 70s and a bit of the 60s we've been in the same league more often than not. This game clearly means something to both sets of fans but to say we care more is ridiculous bearing in mind we have a real derby that I'm sure will resume in the next few years.

Anyway, our recent record is crap against you and I think it'll continue on Saturday.

Getting back on topic even though we play better away from home I think we're going to struggle, centre mid looks weak, Featherweight is still banned, Deverdics doubtful? Woods fell of the face of the earth?

Without wanting to trigger PoolieTom I'd start Paynter alongside Amond Saturday, he needs a partner upfront, doing too much running and nowt else.

I'd take a draw.

Nice to see you edited out the 'recent' out of my post Carver, classy. You haven't always been better but I'll leave you to bash one out over it.

No they didn't. Hope this helps you.

Well a couple of posts before his it was mentioned by at least one of your other lot in one form of the word, rival or rivalry or whatever. Check again if you have the inclination.

Definitely take a point. Can't see Hignett going with only two centre mids in this but his hand may be forced.

Yeah that's what I was thinking, Green yesterday looked lost, bad game to have to make your professional debut, I'd also prefer Donnelly back at centre half, he's had a solid start.

Well I've checked again (why the fuck did I check again!) and the first person to mention rivalry was Chief. Unless someone before has edited their post...

I'm going to give up on this one. You obviously believe you've read something that either wasn't ever there or isn't there now.

I'll look forward to many more enthralling discussions in this thread over the next 5 days.
