it's been a week since we said goodbye to our much loved pet,
so sad are my family we haven't stopped grieving yet.
some people just don't understand or can comprehend,
how it feels waiting for your broken heart to mend.
"alfie" was just a dog with his own personality and charm,
but he was part of our family protecting us from harm.
every evening sitting on the stairs he would wait,
looking out of the window for the homecoming of his dad/best mate.
we would cuddle up together on the sofa in front of the telly,
he liked nothing more than a good old rub on his chin and belly.
taking him to the vet was so hard knowing he was going to be put to sleep,
i knew it was for the best but i broke down and started to weep.
the vet's receptionist was very understanding and she gave me a tissue,
i looked "alfie" in the eye and said ...."i'm sorry old friend, thanks for the memories and we will always love you."

Sorry for your loss Oak, it's so tough especially when they were full of character and life.

Been six weeks already since our cat had to be put down and we are still grieving for him, expecting to see him in the lobby greeting us when we come in, or barge the door in the living room when he came through to get his grub, or jump up on my bed to chew on my ear plug box! It's going to take a long time to get over the loss.

Got my fella on my lap right now - well his head anyway. Been to the vets many times over the years - breaks my heart every time.

So sorry to hear about Alfie.

After reading this I had tears in my eyes because the memories came back. I was in the same situation twice. Heartbreaking.

Sorry to hear of your loss mate, I've had pets - cats & dogs - throughout my lifetime and they give so much pleasure, friendship & unconditional love for what seems such an incredibly short time.

R.I.P. Alfie!

We have three cats and two dogs. One of which is my Avatar. He is an Epileptic dog so has special needs. They are our children though. In a way, I hope I die before them as I'd be inconsolable if/when they pass away.
They're not pets to us, but part of the family. They even sleep with us on the bed at night.

I understand your pain and hope with time, you'll remember the good times and the quality of life Alfie shared with you.

If that's the case TB hopefully you have arrangements for them to be cared for.

No shortage of suitors. My Mum has threatened to dognap the dog in the avatar the next time she comes down. I was trying to say how hard it would be without them. But rest assured we have that sorted out if it was to happen.
