Guiesley are another club who seem to expect too much. They have been lucky to avoid relegation the past 2 seasons. Guy who pulled of great escspe gets the sack. I mean xmas sacking yeah as team may well be out the fa cup and trophy early doors and want one last shot at league survival but before 1st month of seasons out, leagues becomeing a joke

I would have left it to 10 games in and given them the chance to turn around our poor form. There are decent players in the squad but we've not been playing as a team or with tactics that suit them.

Agree with this, although i do think he was a bit of strange appointment in the first place.

Have to agree with you, even we gave Jamie Day 12 games last season before he went. Trouble was we ended up with a clown in charge and went down anyway. Sometimes better the devil you know than out of the frying pan into the fire.

I'm reliably informed that our new manager will be announced on Monday. No idea who it is though.

Paul Cox & Neil Redfearn are the two being touted for the Guiseley job in the local press. Still no idea.

Interesting twist.

Micky n Marcus as the new Daz n Dave?

Plenty for the messageboard botherers to feed on there but for me that looks a better option than most of the others I've seen floated. If only the pot was suddenly a bit fuller now Cox has gone and Jim Bentley was available.

The main reasons for Cox's departure that seem to hold any weight are that the chairman wanted him to play good football to get the crowds in, so refused to sanction transfers for a lot of "big men" - this definitely happened more than once. He also refused to let Cox sign Joss Labadie when he found out about his record for biting players - not good for the club's image.

I can agree with that reasoning.

However, there seems to be a little bit of naivety from the chairman, who is still banging on about promotion, and seems to think he can get a better manager and flair players for his money.

So, my own theory is that he's been looking to elbow out Cox and bring in someone (Bignot?) for a while now - should really have let Hartlepool have Cox for a cut price though instead of letting it come to this.

I agree, except that I suspect he is/was hoping for someone with more oomph than a former "Succesful at Solihull" but now out of work option.

Well from what I've heard, Bignot isn't even after another management role - so I doubt it'll be him.

I hope Bignot does get the chance at a club at this level as he never got a proper chance here, he said all along he was getting players in in preperation for having a good crack at it this season and pretty much writing last season off by trying out different formations and tactics, then Fenty sacks him towards the end of last season without giving him a chance to do what had been planned for this season. Whether he would have been successful here nobody knows but he definitely should have been given a chance this season, hope he does find somewhere and gets treat better than how he got shit on here.

Our forum and Guiseley's both seem convinced that Cox is being announced there today.

The two favourites are Cox & Redfearn. The new manager was at Orient on Saturday and Redfearn was spotted at Valley Parade so many people just adding 2+2. It could be someone completely different.

Is it right that Guiseley are planning to go full-time (end of the season, presumably) and are chucking a fair bit of money at it?

Cox confirmed as Guiseley's manager, an appointment that will probably end up keeping them in the division.

Thankfully we have already taken 3 points (and 6 goals) from them already this season.

Our new chairman was alluding to all that in a prematch interview on Saturday. I can't see Cox coming here without a firm commitment to going full time. You can see on the pitch that we are running out of steam midway through the second half of games and there doesn't seem to be any kind of plan to work to. Full time training will address both of those I think. It will all be pointless if we don't stay up this season though.
If Cox is announced, we could lose half of the current squad being less than 6 foot!

Guisly are a NPL club at best but have been promoted beyond their independent means thanks to, you've guessed it, directors and chairman pouring in huge amounts of their own cash. They already pay full time wages to their part time squad, according to our own chairman, the other week. So yes they are indeed just another set of bankrolled bastards we can add to the list. Like all the other clubs of their kind they are in this league under false pretences and I will never afford them the time of day or a shred of my respect. I commend our brother Great & Historic Football League clubs to do likewise. So looking forward to the shit hitting the fan there one day and I for one will be laughing my rocks off as they slither down the plug hole. :£:£:£

It's a great appointment, especially if he can keep the chairman onside. He'll sort out the defence first, so expect a few tedious 0-0s early on, but he'll get the job done.
Also expect a few Nottm Forest kids to come in and a lot of players from a certain agency. You'll get some excellent new signings (some of the best you've seen in Guiseley colours) but the chairman will have to be prepared to stump up.

Our upcoming home match against Guiseley is shaping up to be an interesting one!

Don't worry, Paul Cox has been sent with specific instructions to punish Guiseley for WHAT THEY DID.

While we continue to scratch around and do the "proper process".

No way should it take 3 weeks to appoint a new boss. Farce.
