He was settled when he came to Notts though.
Having said that he’s had one or two health problems so might prefer being at home rather than hotels or kipping at a players houses.
Wonder how his dog is, he never failed to mention him in his weekly emails.

I would say Allen has a better chance of getting another promotion on his cv by staying at Barnet rather than going to Chesterfield.

He’d be mad to go to Chesterfield as they are. The club sounds like a complete mess.

But it's the sort of Club he'd have taken without thinking about it a few years back. Would have been perfect for him.

Now, as said, with his dodgy ticker, he might prefer to actually stay at Barnet.

Ofcourse it would be easy for him to say no if we offered him the job, as we've been a club in rapid decline for the last 3 years..

But MA strikes me as the type of man that loves a challenge, and believe me, there is no bigger challenge than stearing our club back to the football league. Regardless of the state were in, were a far more attractive proposition than Barnet in every aspect and it will definately put him back on the map again if he took this job and made a success of it :dk:

In every aspect? Maybe as a club, but there's more to taking on any job than just the organization.

Don't take this the wrong way, I've never been to Chesterfield and it seems a nice enough place, but I would have thought most people outside those who live in Chesterfield would choose London as a place to live over it any day - I've never heard Chesterfield being mentioned as a place of great culture or excitement, but I'll happily be corrected on that.

London might well be a better place to live, I'm not going to dispute that, however if you're a southerner looking to move up north then Chesterfield wouldn't be the worst option. You can catch trains directly to London from Chesterfield, and we are also situated on the M1 (Junction 29). Add into the fact we are surrounded by larger cities such as Sheffield, Derby, Nottingham and Manchester to an extent, it's hardly the most rural of lifestyles so I'm sure it wouldn't take MA long to adapt!

Having said all that, I'm sure managers take more than just where a club is located into account when considering a job, and as I've stated before, on the football club side of it we are a bigger and better proposition overall. I don't mean any disrespect at all when I say that towards the Barnet fans, as I've got a lot of admiration for your club in how you always seem to bounce back from relegation quickly and never end up stuck in a long term downward spiral! Hopefully we will both be celebrating returning to the FL next summer.

So it's official, Martin Allen has left Barnet...

Just a matter of time before he's unveiled as the new Chesterfield FC gaffer? Or is he off elsewhere?...

If he does, he's making the same error that he did in leaving to go to Eastleigh back in November 2016 unless there is a change of club owner.

I'm sure he'll be devastated to hear that 'rudebwoyben' of the One Football Forum disapproves of his decision.

Did someone piss in your pint on Saturday or something? Literally all you've done this week is post about us.

Cheer up pal :bl:

I've posted about your 'ex' manager mate that's all. I'm sure I'll be cheerful enough when I see MA lifting that CFC scarf above his head!

Yeah because each time Allen has left Barnet he's gone on to have unrivalled success, like at Eastleigh for example.

You're posting like you're trying to annoy Barnet fans, but really you're just looking like you've got a chip on your shoulder about it all.

Just pointing out that these are some of the worst attempts at trolling I've seen in a long while.

It you want to rub Barnet fan's noses in it, then our board will give plenty of targets. But as for me, I'm hoping it is true, and I will laugh myself silly if Muggleton rocks up there.

Not sure where you're getting the idea that I'm trying to wind Barnet fans up from, I don't have any ill feeling towards your club. All I've done is simply state that Chesterfield FC is a bigger job and more attractive proposition than Barnet FC is , and that must also be MA's thoughts on the matter (If it is him, mind)

This may be a silly question but why does Allen not want to stay? Not the first he's done this is it?

Not sure the Chesterfield of now is a better proposition, you're being run into the ground and are a laughing stock amongst your own fans....

Maybe Martin Allen just loved the look of Chesterfield's new away kit which they won't be allowed to wear in the National League on account of it clashing with the matchday officials' playing strip.

Our current predicament doesn't affect the size of our club? The fan base is still there, albeit disillusioned (understandably), best ground in the division, more than likely the best academy in the division, and no matter how many cock ups and bad decisions our board continues to make, it won't tarnish our proud history...

I am well aware of the challenge that awaits in the conference, and believe me, it wouldn't shock me if we go and have another poor season as the last 3 years have offered us supporters little hope. I won't blame Barnet fans for being bitter towards us for taking their manager though as it's understandable

:fish: Literally in your last two posts. Awful attempts!

I'm not fussed about MA leaving, yes we showed good form towards the end of the season but out was against favourable opposition. His style is hard to watch the majority of the time.

Even the season we won the conference the final 6 months were painful to watch the majority of the time. If we can get a half decent reputable manager in we'll be fine, I fully expect us to be title winners come next May with our squad.

Chesterfield isn't a more attractive club than barnet, grounds are fairly similar, our training facilities are far superior, our youth academy is far superior, our current squad is superior and I'm pretty sure our budget is superior.

Chesterfield will indeed have a bigger fan base and a better history in the football league but that counts for nothing when trying to get 3 points on a Saturday afternoon

Where have you been all season:lol:
I've been active on this relegation thread for a good couple of months now!

Before that though, admittedly, I couldn't bring myself to read opposition fans opinions of how shite we were when we played them!:hb:
