Cancelled our game Saturday home to Kiddy because the pitch is behind schedule and looked to be suffering a bit versus Bristol Rovers. Bit tinpot but apparently a contractor let us down on end of season work.
ETA Or rather they'll still play the game but somewhere we don't get to watch

We're playing Bristol City in the (cringe-inducingly named) Johnson Cup tonight.

We'll lose and our fans will go into extreme meltdown.

Surely most will realise it's just a fucking pre-season friendly. It's about fitness. You would think some fans had never watched football before.

Bob Harris is playing for us tonight (LB most recently at Bristol Rovers) and no sign of Briggs.

Poor early defending had seen us go 2 down, 1-2 at ht.
Really need to decide on a LB as cover for Habergham we've used a different every game so far.

Fairly straightforward pre-season for us so far, with five wins from five and no goals conceded. 2-0 away at Maldon & Tiptree, 4-0 away at Needham Market, 1-0 at Llandudno, 2-0 against a West Ham XI and a 3-0 win at Braintree today.

No real tests yet of course though, with our annual defeat at home to Ipswich pending on Tuesday night. Then we have Gillingham on Friday to round things off.

As always, a narrow 1-0 defeat thanks to a Joe Garner header. One more to go!

Smashed Braintree 3-1 with a second string team. We had Jordan Lussey on trial, he was most recently on trial at Coventry. He scored a curler from outside the box and got an assist with a cracking cross.

We have won all our pre-season games pretty comfortably, beating a full strength Swansea (pretty much), full strength Millwall.

I fully exect us to lose our opening four games though.

3 goals in the last 8 minutes saw us beat Forest U23's 4-3. Whitehouse, Bostwick overhead kick, Green and Arnold.

Like a throwback to last season, scoring and win games late on!

Youth team took on Alfreton and won 5 - 1. Must have been a weak Alfreton side

We lost 3-1 to Bristol Rovers, Nathan Smith with our goal. Sounded like we played some decent stuff, but look very shaky at the back, especially from set pieces.

We lost 0-2 to Poole town.

Gonna lump us on for relegation. It's a dead cert.

Fullbacks required by all accounts. Bostwick levelled with a bicycle kick apparently....

I see you have Sean Long at right back, been rubbish at this level for both us and Cambridge in recent seasons, really don't think he is good enough.

It was not our first XI but conversely neither was it a weak XI either. We looked good first half and arguably were unfortunate not to be in front at HT but the second half was a disaster from our point of view. We went off the rails completely. Was very impressed by you guys thought you had some good youngsters and looked organised but we made it easy for you.

Need to respond on Saturday v Stags first team.

Our youth team beat Mickleover Sports 1-0, U18s top scorer from last year, Jordan Ponticelli scored again. Hopefully he gets into the first team squad this season.

Yep. Could have been 6 an all, were it not for 2 excellent saves from Garratt and a goal line clearance from Bakayogo. Horrific display.

We seem to rate Howes and Osborne, who both scored, really highly, but I was amazed at the result against a Conference North team considering a similar XI (minus those two and the two trialists) lost 4-0 to Mickleover last week.

Lost 2-1 to Farense in Portugal, Omar Bugiel with a late goal for us. Very hot, so should have been a decent workout.

Few of our fans out there enjoying themselves.

Yes. Its certainly a worry. Not sure if the players were affected by the terrible injury suffered by Cecil Nyoni. We just seemed to give up the ghost and lost our shape. If we are going to do that I would rather we do it now rather than in the league.

Yep, not good enough. Ok-ish for back-up to play 10 or so games a season but nothing more than that.

Won both of our games 4-0

Selection headaches for Steve Evans....

And we've apparently lodged a huge bid for a marquee striker.
Which falls perfectly in line with Evans' comments the other day. Mr Chairman, give me more money.

Nah, we've been in for a striker for months, constantly being linked to the likes of Akinde or Marquis.

I've been told that the Chairman has got a lump sum of money put to one side to spend on a big name striker, simply because it would only have to go to the tax man if he didn't spend it on his other business, which is the football club.

The most unrealistic rumour to most, has actually got some serious legs due to several factors.
