wondered why the plymouth muppets are so quiet on twitter.
would love to see them struggle after them thinking they were up already when they beat us in the playoffs.

Sorry guys, did I attend a different match to everyone else?

Luton were certainly the better team, and deserved the win, but both teams will have to improve if they want automatic promotion.

What was most disappointing is that we know first hand how unreliable Walton can be in goal. On his day, he's a good goalkeeper. However, when it's not his day, he's prone to a howler or two. We should have been raining shots down on him but despite all of our possession we created very few meaningful chances.

It was quite a dull affair from our perspective but I'm sure Luton will be over the moon with the result. Not many teams are going to stick three past us at Home Park.

There was one odd moment, although it certainly didn't contribute to our loss. Late in the second half a Luton Town striker hauled down Gary Miller off the ball. The referee blew for the foul, ran over to the incident and as he did, he went to draw a yellow card. He looked up though as he did this and realised that if he showed the yellow card, he would have had to have given the striker a red card.

Neither of the striker's challenges were reckless or dangerous, just what I'd call professional. I wonder if this is why the referee decided against showing him the red card?

We're not going to struggle are we? It was one game.

All football leagues the world over tend to finish with the biggest budgets at the top and the lowest at the bottom. We have one of the largest budgets and our final league position will reflect that.

Plymouth look like they're going to be a dangerous side this season, which makes this sort of result even more satisfying.

I thought we started pretty slow; we had a few early setbacks with Sheehan feeling his calf about 30 seconds before the start of the game and Potts getting a knock on his ankle which Plymouth proceeded to try and punish as he tried to run it off. Sheehan's replacement Cuthbert by the way as absolutely immense. I'm so glad he's had a good start to his season, because last season he was nowhere. I was a bit nervous about him coming in, as his pre-season had been disrupted by injury and hadn't had the minutes like everyone else, but he slowed to adverse affects. He headed balls away all game for fun.

I was impressed by Plymouth - they look strong and physical, so I found the comments comparing Luton to Wycombe a bit puzzling. In the first quarter, Plymouth were clearly trying to rough us up, which is why I'm so glad we stood up to it and beat them at their own game. I think they could well be one of those teams that do better away from home, than at home, based on their new style of play. I was impressed by Ijaha - he's a strong boy, as I was with Song'o in the first half.

In the second half, we came out and suddenly the game looked a lot more open. The hotel partnership up front looked dangerous on every attack - they had a plan, very similar to the way Benson and Gray worked together.

One thing that escaped my notice last season was that McCormick was the new captain. Now I don't condone the chanting that probably follows him everywhere, but making him captain, a privileged, role model position, with his history, is a undoubted mistake.

Had to miss this one when the wife announced that she was taking me to Bruges for my 30th this weekend on Thursday night. Lovely gesture but for fucks sake...

Wow though, great result. Suspected that this was probably a good time to play Plymouth what with their huge squad overhaul. Difficult to gauge from the reactions how the game actually went with our lot breaking out the champagne and the Plymouth fans preparing for trips to Southport, Barrow and North Ferriby. However Hylton and Marriott look a natural combination up front and my concerns over the creativity of our midfield have eased somewhat. Only downside is with Sheehan probably injured and Potts suspended, we may have to bring Cameron McJannet up from the youth team to play left back against Villa. Thankfully he will almost definitely be the next member of last seasons all conquering youth team to be handed a pro deal.

All in all a thoroughly brilliant start to the season, glad I'm booked in for the next 9 games.

Luton deserved to win, 3-0 was flattery though. Hylton will be dangerous all year, he was a right nuisance. We lacked attacking flair but showed enough for me to be convinced we will still be top 7 come end of season. All 3 goals were preventable, 2 defensive cock ups and the 3rd McCormick should do better. He's yet to convince me that he should still be starting ahead of Dorel who has always impressed.

It was 'one of those' games which although ended 3-0, could have quite easily been 1-1 or even 1-0 to us on a different day. It didn't though so we have to now deal with that and move on. Things can only get better right?

Plus point, Ijaha looked an absolute monster in the middle.
