He did well at Welling but that was more of a player manager role, I think it could be a good decision and with Braintree's budget I couldn't really see them attracting much better. Day is on a bit of a hiding to nothing though, it will be extremely difficult to replicate what Cowley achieved last season.

Is this still a part time role?

Turned down the chance to lead us into the play-offs due to his loyalty to Pennock. Not the best of moves, had he done well he might have had the chance of landing what is reportedly the best paid job in non league (6 figures) on a 5 year deal. Glad he didn't given we got Cooper instead.

Seemed to have an initial impact when he came in as assistant and we started the season playing better football, but as things went on the team's morale and discipline got worse as did our form and no one on the management seemed to have any answers.

Can't see him getting anywhere near what Cowley did.

Shows the lack of appeal of Stepford Whores FC that they have to offer a 6 figure salary to attract even the mediocrities they've had at the reigns since Swampy rode his wallet into town and backs up my comments that REAL talent wants to work for real football clubs. Must be sobering for him to see even Doris has turned his nose up at the stink of his money and opted for Braintree. :£:£:£:£:£:£:£:£:£:£

You do realise he was ALREADY EMPLOYED HERE. The reason he walked along with the rest of the coaching staff was out of loyalty to Pennock.

And we had 90+ applicants for job, including some real high calibre lower league managers and one or two big name ex players. Lots of people are desperate to work here, unlike FC Tinpotfax lol.

Back on topic...

Jamie Day is a solid enough appointment for Braintree but he is not a Devonshire or Cowley. Not sure Braintree will be such a threat next year.

Any club that finds themselves "playing better football" as a result of Jamie fucking Day coming in needs to have a serious look at themselves.

It's amazing how money can make people desperate.

Well done Jamie Day for showing some class and not seeking financial advantage from his bosses sacking while in the top three..

He hasnt done anything yet and has had plenty of failures before, you may well be less glad at some point next season when you are not at the top and Mr veggie gets impatient.

Makes a refreshing change to have someone with principles in football. Knows the league and will surely have the necessary contacts to strengthen our squad for next season. Not expecting miracles as to improve on last season will be nigh on impossible.

Pretty poor appointment imo. I think Braintree will struggle next year if I'm honest. Losing their manager and captain, replacing with a average manager, can only go one way.

And he has the worlds dodgiest Barnet!
