What a win. Superb performance. Every credit to the tranmere fans, loads turned up and created a great atmosphere. On the pitch it was very comfortable for us. Completely dominated. Honourable mention to Banks who looks a really good player for them and their sub keeper looks a lot better than their number 1.

What a day
Fair play, we were well outplayed today. I think it was just a bad day at the office - we were second to the ball all afternoon, absolutely nothing worked.

Over both games Fylde showed glimpses of what they could be... I've no idea why they're where they are in the table.

Who's next? Oh FFS... Barrow away. I hate going to Barrow!

We need to sort our defence out before we’re a threat in this league. Players like cook are ideal for our centre halves, players like tarpey are a nightmare. Top ten finish this season and I’d be happy. Recruit better next season and kick on

Two struggling teams in a borefest with zero quality from either side today. Both sets of fans left wondering why they bother I should think.

Think thats Tranmere's record defeat since we've been down here.
Didn't go today, spent all christmas trying to get cover at work to go, thankfully to no avail. To add insult to injury it sounded like the Tranmere fans got a right soaking too.
Great day results wise for Macc and Aldershot. Think only Macclesfield can stop Macclesfield now.

4th close game aginst the Daggers this season, we played well for the first 20mins in each half and if I'm honest, I'm disappointed we didn't get at least goal during our spells of pressure as we created some good chances.

Settled for a draw in the final 20mins though after John Still brought on Cheek, Whitely and Ferrier and our legs went a bit after our efforts with ten men two days before. Whitely wasted a good chance at the end.

Happy enough with 3 clean sheets from 4 over the last week.

Aldershot are the best footballing side in the division and while that might not result in promotion, Waddock deserves a lot of credit. Should only improve as they get more players back from injury.

Everything is unravelling on and off the pitch for us. We even had the buckets out.

The lack of width on the right hand side of the team was our problem today. There is no balance in the side without DMH on the wing; it is amazing how much losing one player can disrupt a team's pattern of play.

Fair play to Fylde, who are as good as anyone we have played this season. I think we are fighting for second or third place now, which I am happy with given how badly we started the season. I think Aldershot will probably win it in the end.

You've looked the better side for about 10 minutes out of the 45.

If we don't go on to win this on the second it will be ridiculous.

Yeah, that's what I meant - the last 10 mins of the half we had been on top. Second-half was mostly a wash-out, but that late equaliser felt as good as it did last season!

Decent point for us but probably should have been more against the most direct team I've seen since Cox's Barrow. In the end we had to grab a 90th minute equaliser and Dover had a couple of glorious chances in the dying moments.

Glad to see the back of Orient now. We need to beat Hartlepool on Saturday it's getting desperate for us going forward.

Decent run out for our reserves that.

Ditto for ours too, several of whom were forced to play out of their usual position and against the match officials who decided to experiment with unusual interpretations of the offside rule, and what constitutes a penalty offence. I can't see FIFA agreeing to either of their suggestions. Macclesfield have got to be the most bang average team ever to sit atop any league, anywhere at any time. Anyway, on to Maidenhead, where at least some of our six missing first teamers should be available again. :bdick::bdick::bdick:

Wrong. Chester fans know exactly why they "bother". They know they support a REAL football club that is worthy of their lifelong commitment. For supporters of REAL football clubs, not "bothering" is never an option. :bdick:

We won't win the league, purely because we draw too many games (9 already) and that will ultimately cost us. I think the playoff winner will finish 2nd or 3rd though, and at the moment that is a very realistic possibility for us!

The weather in the second half was ridiculous. A lot of hand wringing on our site (as per usual) but in the face of conditions like that football goes out of the window. We were punished for not taking our chances in the first half. Not for the first time.

Also Chris Dunn. I'm getting fond memories of Andy Coughlin.

Can't say I thought Dunn was all that bad - possibly at fault for the first, but other two would have gone over anyone's head. Our keeper was as bad, if not worse.

On the balance of it, Wrexham were clearly better, but a point felt deserved as they battled hard for once.

Annoyingly, it looks like Jimmy Dunne has played his last game on loan from Burnley for us. For a 20-year-old, he's been up there with the best defenders on this division, and can see him being offered out to L1 and L2 sides for the rest of the season.

Comfortable win for us in the end. Unusual line ups from both sides, leading to a really dull first half. We went in front in injury time (need to check whether it was onside though!!). After that Halifax fell apart and we walked in two more goals. They got one back, we scored from a soft-ish penalty, then they got a penalty of their own (looked a clear foul assuming it was actually inside the box - I couldn't tell), but missed it. If Halifax could do us another favour and knock us out of the Trophy next week I'd appreciate it. Focus has to be solely on winning this league now.

That must be the 10th point we've dropped in added time.

Cock up by the GK I hear.

Frustrating again today as yet again we let 2 points slip, we had enough chances to have put the game out of reach for Maidstone by half time. but had to settle for just the one goal, but my what a beauty it was , Second half we noticed that Maidstone were playing as well, who push us back to defend too deep, until through some sloppy defending, The Stones equalised, only for us to take a 2-1 lead again some 5 mins later , surely we had done enough against a team that show little intent of winning this game , but no , the defence that has been so solid all season , let slip and on 90 mins to allow Maidstone equalised, clearly another two points lost, unbeaten run continues, but we need to turn these draws to wins
Was a good game for any with some end to end stuff, but we continue our good record on plastic, with no league defeats on them, just the cup game at Bromley where we lost two defenders at half time, which didn't help our cause

FYI any Halifax fans on here and their own forum, there's a lot of talk on there of us being part time, we're not we're full time, just some of the players have other things on the side line.

Classy Gateshead fans singing about us going bust then moaning about no atmosphere for a ‘derby game’

Memo to self: don’t take shite off no mark tinpot trash seriously

Memo to the heed: stop doing a Carlisle and create a rivalry that doesn’t exist and never will. Apparently we helped you out when you were in the shit (although I don’t remember as you were insignificant at the time). Not sure you’ll be for long with a FT team and gates of 800. What goes around comes around.

Pleased for you, but don't spoil it by being too cocky!

Apologies, this is very unfamiliar territory for us! I don't think many Macc fans are getting carried away with things (except the one who has already posted the potential league 2 line up of teams for next season on our messageboard...) as there are a lot of games left to go, but it has been an enjoyable festive period where we've displayed a lot of character in the sort of games we've previously struggled in.

We've always been considered bigger than you, but these last 5 years since we've been back here we've shot ourselves in the foot so many times I think it's now in our DNA and we don't really deserve to survive. Club needs a massive clear-out from top to bottom. Genuinely pleased that you pick up our discarded players and get the best out of them. Still angry that McCarthy released Durrell.

Ok Boss, I have a couple of genuine questions for you- weren't you on the verge of liquidation 2 years ago? What happened, who wrote the cheques to clear your debts?

You average 200 less than us on your home gates, our gate receipts only cover 2/3s of our team budget- the "Vardy money" is making up the shortfall, and going full time isn't even a remote possibility: how can you afford to be full time? Who's putting the money in to top up the budget?
P.S if you don't know the answers to the last question, you really ought to be finding out. :dk:

Our owner loaned us money to pay off the debts. Since then we've paid him back.

Our ticket prices are higher, plus we don't have a massive stadium to maintain. And we have a squad of 18 compared to your 25.
