Snatched a late point, good to see Hannah back in and scoring straight away. We were poor as usual but had a lot of chances in the first half, hit the woodwork twice.

Ryan Astles with a leg hanging off keeping Torquay out by himself. What a man.

Surprised you haven't played him with Cook to be honest.

We did v borehamwood mate , he just got in cooks way. I think he is a confidence player if he gets a few goals he will be ok. Hes been awful so far remember when you were a kid and you would kick a ball against a wall thats what its like passing to him it just bounces off him at strange angles

Can't remember the last time I left the Vic in a good mood, but being a miserable sod, I was a bit disappointed Maidstone pulled one back at the end which they didn't really deserve.

To a man we were fantastic, plenty of graft and some great football at times. I liked Deverdics at left back, spraying balls from deep. Two new centre halves look great, Michael Woods had his first good game for two years and Nicky Featherstone proving that on the ball, he has too much class for this level. Scott Loach has been a brilliant signing. Franks I think, dare I say it, could do very well in the National League. Everyone was class. Best performance of the season by far.

That's the thing in this league, if you match the other team's work rate then if you have a bit of quality (which on paper we do), it will come through in the end. More of the same next week Pools, please. Be a big test of where we're at, though.

I note this forum is at the sensible end of the forum pool, so I won't take up much of your time..but...I've read a deal about how lucky Woking were yesterday and would just like to put matters straight.
Yes Macclesfield had lots of chances but Woking had lots of chances too and scored two of them without any help (thank you Shwan Jalal).

An eventful end-to-end start for twenty minutes saw Macc score a soft goal because we didn't stop the cross and their fella was unmarked for a header. Plus ca change.
Then Woking HERO Shwan Jalal literally throws a speculative deflected (soft) shot in and suddenly we're back in it :)
While we're still gently taking the pjss out of our former keeper he makes three AMAZING saves and despite the home side huffing and puffing we got a second and looked solid either side of half-time. Macc came back into it of course- they're a good side -especially against us! Whitaker was brilliant yet again (the old baldy b4stad) and was pulling us all over the place. He then hits the post from a one on one :) and later on our 19yr old keeper pulls off a similar flurry of worldy's to Jalal's.
Yes we were being stretched by some great movement across the front line by Macc's forwards, but Effiong also hit the post and we also created opportunities right up the point where he SMASHED the winner past Jalal. It was a bloody good game of football for the neutral (and the winners hee-hee).

When I was waiting outside for my lift these three big Macc fellas made a beeline towards me and I've thought uh-oh here's we're I get filled in - only to find they wanted to tell me how lucky we were and that they'd been robbed! I laughed and said "oh that's unlucky chaps" while thinking "oh do us a favour, you're sh'te and we deservedly pumped you for three goals".

It was like a Cup tie and could've been a battering for either side. But it wasn't and we FINALLY put it past those Macc wossnames for the first time in 22 - yes 22 years so forgive my excitement!

I assume Hardy must have taken a knock otherwise a bonkers decision to take him off. Coupled with Jones staying on the bench. Correct though, this goes some way to being mugged twice last year.

Joe Ward seems to be racking up the goals and assists for Woking.

That's the problem with Hardy shay. He's a really good player but very really see games out

Didn't really pose any attacking threat for the first 85 minutes of the game. Somehow, the Shots team seemed to bottle it towards the end, gifting us a few chances. Unfortunately we don't have enough quality and it's another defeat. I'm not surprised to hear that Shots had players out as they were poor yesterday, a good side would have put at least 3 or 4 past us.
We need a result against Chester or we are going to be cut adrift after just 8 matches.

It's a shame that our budget has run out and the manager insists on playing with wing-backs while we haven't got a right-sided player suited to that role. Josh Pressley played in that position for Dover yesterday, probably my MoM. If he's usually that good, the kind of player I'd like to see us bid for, should funds become available.

We didn't bottle it, we just had 3 or 4 players on the pitch that could hardly walk at the end.

Looks like our best player so far. At Tranmere and Wrexham he didn't really get in the game much but I'm glad we signed him on a two year contract. Although that depends if we run out of money by Christmas.

I'm having the mother of all twitter arguments with Alan Alger over this bloody penalty at Tranmere/Dover.

Not what I said. He puts his foot in the way of the NORMAL motion of the defender's kicking leg. Impossible to stop. Never a Pen.

I'm baffled how he can't grasp that it doesn't matter whether it's normal motion (in fact it's a lack of anticipation(. The defender has kicked the attacker as he nicked the ball away and made no contact with the ball itself.

You see players all over the pitch nipping in in front with the opposing player than committing a foul.

Bizarre

It was a definite penalty, although we should have had one thirty seconds earlier for the foul on Norwood.

Did not Alger also tip us to win the league.....

I did notice he was spouting this nonsense yesterday. His point is based around the fact that the defender didn't know he was there and it was accidental, which it was. Doesn't mean it isn't a penalty though, how can it not be a penalty when he's booted the attacker full pelt in the leg.

Ask him where in the rulebook does it say that ISN'T a foul then. The man is an idiot who doesn't know anything about this league anymore yet still thinks he's an expert on it.

As far as I am aware, it is only handball that can't be given as a foul if it is accidental.

Has he scored yet? He won't get more than 5 league goals this season.
Nope and no sign of that happening anytime soon either. Fans are already starting to turn on him as well, looks completely different player to the one we had on loan last season...

To be honest id be shocked if he lasts the season with us

If you say so. I thought the amount of time your side wasted yesterday was pathetic. It's a shame that the referee did nothing about and then only added on four minutes at the end.

We need a result against you. Torquay fans told me yesterday that Chester are shit, but yourselves and Guiseley are shitter. It's a win win for us. Win and we get 3 points, lose and Useless McCarthy might get the Nine, Ten Jack.
As was said ~ without giant Ryan Astles we'd have been tonked yesterday, despite probably having more clear cut chances.

Can you please explain that to the ref at Orient on Saturday

The ref can probably explain it as well as he can explain not giving a penalty and a red card against your keeper when he manhandled Bonne on the goal line.
