We took about 700 to Wednesday last season, when we'd taken 3k and 5.5k in the previous two seasons. We'd usually take 4K there standardly with much more depending on how long since last visited.

700 was blamed on the price. But it was also because we were crap. Really crap. We'd lost our identity as a club and we were down by a country mile.

I said at the time that, whilst the daft pricing there was a factor, it wasn't the main driver. We had a couple of hundred at Wolves which was unthinkable.

The point to my waffling is that, the Losh prices are dear, but the main reason you'll have a less than your norm away following there is because of the football you are serving up. People don't follow crap teams, even their own.
Good post.....

Though Millers at S6
14/15 - 4,650
15/16 - 2,520

Don't go all Firthy with the exaggerating.

Tbf that 15/16 season was the start of those ridiculous ticket prices otherwise we would take 4k minimum everytime in a average league position and reasonable ticket prices imo.

Based on what?
Just asking.
My two pennorth worth, very similar sized clubs these days, though you have to go back a while for the last time Oxford graced the second tier, remember em beating us at ours on Easter Monday in 1991. Oxford, like Rotherham, have been through the shit owner wise which did end in NL footy which the Millers haven't that said they have played top flight football and a cup final in my living memory and have bags of potential.

Selling really poorly for MK away on Easter Monday, expected us to at least sell the initial 3k. Wonder if our fans have their eyes on Donny and Charlton away instead.

Couldn't find if it has already been stated, but there were 407 GAS at Peterborough.

I don't get involved with the big club / little club argument usually, but I do need to get this off my chest .....
If Dave ( he broke his leg you know ) Whelan had been born 20 miles away anybody who said " big club " and " Wigan athletic " in the same paragraph would have been sectioned.
You would still be at Springfield Park , the Rochdale division would be called the Wigan division and your away support at Gigg Lane would still be about 300.
Your success and subsequent " bigness " would not be an issue.
Well done for the cup win .... but the seasons in the premier league etc. are all about Dave.
Finally, when did you last see a Portsmouth fan claim that they are big? Never heard one myself and the reason is simple ... if you are a genuine big club you just are .. you don't need to keep banging on about it because everyone else already knows.

Edit to say .... Didn't know Dave isn't a born pie eater, but the rest of my post stands.
Reading through that I could almost taste the bitterness leaking out from it. Makes it even more hilarious that you've been trying to do the same thing ever since Stewart Day saved you from oblivion and have failed miserably. I highlighted that part in bold because I can only assume you didn't have the internet last summer when Pompey fans were melting down over Paul Cook binning them off for us when they were such a "big club".

Speaking of Pompey, got my ticket for Easter Monday today. Looking forward to finally ticking off a ground I should have got to years ago.

Given that until the recent past you were a staple non-league, 3rd and 4th division club, you wouldn't have had the chance to years ago mate ;) (To be fair, i think we did meet one season in the early 80's in our last drop down the leagues).

Enjoy your day. Hope Cookie gets one of the two top spots but good that you can't win promotion at ours which looked a possibility a few months back. That would have been a hard watch in the flesh.

Agree with all that really, that's why I wondered why he thought there was a gap between the two clubs.

1,300 sold for Blackburn tomorrow, with POTG. Poor tbh but understandable with the shocking form, negativity around the club and being a night game on Sky.

This time last year it probably would've been closer to 4,500 like at Bolton, if it had been a 3pm Saturday kick off.

Weren’t Bradford fans slating Blackburn fans for ‘only’ taking 2,000 to VP earlier in the season?

Probably can't remember think it was less than 2,000 as well, start of season to somewhere a supposedly big club haven't been for 30 years for a Saturday 3pm kick off not on Sky.

Considering we've won one game since 1st January and our season is over, and it's a night game on TV I'm not sure how you can compare the two? Even in our current position we'd have easily taken over 2,000 for a Saturday 3pm kick off.

At that point we were 22nd in the league, having just been shat on by Doncaster at home. Both clubs have the potential to sell out the respective away ends, we've just played each other at the wrong time for that. If the game tomorrow was at VP we'd sell out.

2 games :2thumb: and you've said your season is over when you could be 1 point off the play-offs by Friday morning...
Touche most football fans over react that's nothing new, if you have time on your hands go watch our games since the new year then you'd see why. Results are one thing but getting totally out played every game and the players not looking interested half the time is were my pessimism stems from.

I'm surprised Grayson hasn't turned the slump around to be honest, his record at this level is great; I'd have taken him if we didn't already have Mowbray. Getting 6th is basically a guaranteed Wembley appearance too so you can't count yourselves out yet, the team coming 3rd will be so demoralised and won't be up for the semis.

Dunno about that, we were pretty fucking demoralised after the Colchester debacle but beat Chesterfield 4-0 on agg. I think whoever finishes 3rd will win the play-offs this year too, as like the season we went up, the top 3 teams are miles better than the teams chasing.

Ah yes that was well fucking funny :fl: I guess it depends which team loses out, if it's us then there's no way we'd handle the pressure of the play-offs, whereas Wigan would probably do what you did.

I'll take funny when it results in one of my favourite ever days out at the football.

Fair dos, can't say I didn't enjoy being at the second leg of the semi either in fairness.

Decent following imo considering your form, being a night match and on Sky.
I think losing our opening two games on the back of relegation deterred our more casual fans from bothering at VP.

~950 sold in advance for Rochdale tomorrow - expect there'll be quite a few POTD too so prob 1,200-1,300 in total
