Madden is a fantastic player and I did want cover for Grigg. But I wanted someone younger, mobile, quick, direct. Our glaring obvious need is defenders as well. Let's see how it pans out in the coming months

Paddy will be a great signing for Chesterfield, will run himself into the ground for you and will be one of the most intelligent strikers in this division the way he moves off the ball and presses. Great person to have in the dressing room as well.

Looks like we are raiding Salford again and signing Elliott Watt. Bit lukewarm on it really, apparently we nearly had the deal over the line in January but Salford pulled the plug when it looked like they were going down.

Cool only plays one up top too. Can’t see paddy doing well up front on his own and I am still undecided as to how good he is as a number 10 or playing behind a striker.

Think there is a difference between what he was playing with us sometimes which is effectively in a two but as a deeper forward. The games he came on replacing Sarc etc he didn’t look too convincing imo

Experienced spine in Grimes, Naylor, Jones, Grigg (& potentially Madden) with younger legs around them e.g. Dobra (23), Berry (23) Oldaker, (24), Mandeville (27), Colclough (28) which is exactly the type of blend you want

Can he play number 10? That would be what i'm thinking potentially so him and Grigg are in the same side. Grigg doesn't so much apart from just appear in the box at the right time to score taps in - so sounds like they are different players - definitely won't see Grigg running himself into the ground - but he is a ridiculously intelligent footballer too

Yeah he can but ideally you’d want some pace ahead of him.

He mainly played as part of a front two or behind a front two. Though he did also play up front on his own when we went to the box midfield and occasionally as a wide forward in a front three.

You’re right though he provides much more than his goals. He’s a really good passer, still has heaps of energy and presses well .

Yea I think so. Loan out to the NL for a bit I reckon, see how he gets on. He might get the odd sub appearance here first. One for the future defo, low risk punt but he's got some good raw attributes by all accounts, very quick, skillful, strong

I don’t think the plan will be to loan him out. Obviously it might happen if he struggles for game time for whatever reason, but he’s got the attributes of a striker that we lacked last season with his pace & directness. Wouldn’t have thought he’d be a starter initially by any means, but pace at any level will cause problems, especially against tired legs if he’s coming off the bench.

Yep, ‘highly regarded’ young centre back. Did ok with us, look pretty classy. Think it was when we were in the NL but can’t be certain.

If he has continued to progress then should be decent.
