He's not a bad fox in the box type player, but he's very much L2 standard. He doesn't have much else to his game either. To get the best out of him he needs to be playing in a 442 with a bigger strike partner alongside him.

Theres better options out there for cheaper in my opinion. That being said if he were to come back to us I wouldnt mind (although plenty of our fanbase would.)
He had a decent touch when he was with us but never looked remotely like scoring. I remember commenting when I first saw him play that I thought he looked like a mascot that forgot to leave the pitch.
Weirdly, the previous season he was Peterborough's top scorer with 11 goals, and that was also in L1.
No idea why it didnt click here, he came in after Luke James left, another who couldn't score in a brothel.

I wouldn't mind him in this division, but like you say he's L2 standard and as we are going to be playing L1 next season, I definitely wouldn't want him back. He'd have been good this season for us, better than Oz & Philips anyway.

Nichols has signed a new 2+1 years option at the beginning of this season so he’s not going anywhere unless for a reasonable fee - we still have 4 other players of the squad on long term contracts that aren’t part of the 10 that re- signed - Tsaroulla and Francillette being two of them

I wouldn't have him back as a main striker if we were in League One. Though as he has signed another contract at Crawley he recognizes his level

A bit unfair in Nichols that.

The reason he wanted to stay was he was playing games.

After signing for the gas he hardly played and they decided he wasn't good enough. Yems basically told him he would play most weeks and he would get him scoring goals...which he did but this season he has been playing mostly out of position to help with the horrific injury list we've had.

I don't think he will ever be a 25 a season striker though.

Nichols always looks very clever when I see him - the kind of striker who might get better the higher he goes as finesse and technique come more to the fore.

4 goals in 94 appearances. I think he had enough of a chance here

I stand corrected. I thought it was a lot less than that. Did he play most out of position because that's a very poor return (no wonder you let him go).

First rumour from our end, Matty Dolan of Newport back to Pools, he passes the ‘did he play for Boro’ check.

I'm not going to criticize signing up those ten at Crawley. There's some good players there but I do question giving a 37 year old centre back a two year deal.

Strangely, we've heard nothing about new contracts for Nadersan and Tunnicliffe. Tunnicliffe has had a rough year with injuries but he was pretty much ever present for the five seasons before that (at other clubs as well). Team of the season last year. Headed for a freebie this !

Casey
Any idea whats going on with Nadesan, would love to have him back up here.

We have appointed a new head of recruitment today, enticing Stephen Gent from Middlesbrough, who had 10 years there.

It's going to be a very busy start to his role here as we look to build a new squad capable of challenging for promotion next year.

Been told that 37 year old Darren Pratley will be staying with us next season, he's triggered a clause for another year and the club are happy to keep him.

Will be a good squad player to keep, had a good overall season with us with a few dips and errors here and there which is to be expected at his age. He is also the same age as myself so I don't feel too old yet.

Lee Angol given another year (with another year option on top of that). He’s done well when he’s played but literally has no hamstrings, he’ll be lucky to play twenty matches, I would’ve let him go based on his injury record.

No doubting Angol's ability or effort when he plays, he's a very good player at this level. It's just about how many games you can get out of him to justify him taking up a spot in the squad. But I assume because of his injury record he won't be on a substantial wage.

I understand it is on reduced terms from this season and more incentive based.

Let's hope he can have a more relatively injury free season next year as there is no doubting his ability at this level

with Angol, Cook and Vernam I wonder if that makes it less likely you'll look at Vadaine Oliver who is heading back up north from Gillingham?

Vernam is out of contract. Fans/club want him to stay, but he might be off elsewhere.

Cook - he’s adequate back-up, but we need to be challenging for autos next season. I don’t think we can rely on him to fire us to promotion.

Angol - I don’t think he’s played more than 30 games in a season since 2017. Even then, he’s a 1 in 3 at best.

Forgotten man Abo Eisa will be back fit, after missing virtually all of this season. Expect big things from him next season.

RE Oliver - never heard of him.

he's Sheffield born so likely he's heading to a L1 or L2 club in the NW or NE.
30 goals in 93 games in the last 2 seasons 26 of them in L1.

IF Exeter don't buy Zanzala would you take him in a swap deal for Cook.... we'll even say you out muscled us if it helps get the deal over the line, lol

I’m not sure I’ve seen enough of Zanzala to comment, but if he’s mobile and can make the ball stick up top I’d definitely consider it. Cooks not bad, but for a big lad the ball comes back far too much and obviously his lack of pace is a real problem.

Zanzala's agent shouting his mouth off last summer about us will have ended any chance of him coming here.

and Carlisle's 1st signing of the summer will probably be central Defender Paul Huntington 34 just announced as getting released by Preston after 10 years there..... he's a Carlisle lad.

Let’s wait and see our retain list before making claims like that. They’ll be plenty for them to get their teeth into.

And we can outmuscle Bradford for the players Carlisle don't want - it's the circle of shite.
