Maybe, but still a difficult league to get out of. The pair dropping out of L2 last season were closer to getting relegated than coming straight back up, a feat last managed by Bristol Rovers 4 years ago. Hopefully Yeovil (and Notts if they do drop) can buck that trend. Getting the right manager in post will be key for Yeovil.
Cheltenham managed it too but I agree with what you're saying. Normally big clubs tend to finish poorly in the first season but lay the foundations for an attack on the promotion places in subsequent seasons. Then it's a case of trying your luck in the play-offs as many times as it takes until you finally go up.

Commiserations to Yeovil, sorry it had to be our result that sent you down. Next weekend will be nervy but we should manage to get the job done.

Commiserations to Yeovil, definitely one of the friendliest clubs in the country to visit.

One thing which might work in their favour next season is their previous experience of playing at that level, something which helped Cheltenham bounce straight back in 2015-16. I think it is much tougher for clubs like Tranmere and Notts to adapt quickly.

Oops, how could I forget Cheltenham, who came down with us.

Think your asssessment is about right. We had very few players under contract, so a total re-build in our first season down in the NL, though given the quality of players brought in perhaps ought to have made the play-offs.

As well as Torquay, Stockport will strengthen the NL next season.

Interesting fact. Yeovil's first ever home league game was against Carlisle United (they beat us 3-0)

Now we will also be their opponents for their last* home league game.

*for this period of league football, hopefully there'll be another

Hopefully Swindon will finally do something decent for us this season after scoring not 1, not 2 but 3 90+ minute goals to take 6 points off us.

Or more likely we'll lose and they'll let Notts score in injury time just to finish us off once and for all.

I'd have loved both Notts and Macc to stay up. They're two of the best away days for us in this league, we take big numbers to Macc and Notts is a good piss up. If i had to chose one I'd probably keep Macc. They are likely to struggle again and it's an away day il definitely go.

Just about sold initial allocation of 900 for Swindon already (guessing those are the seats in the side stand?) with another allocation arriving early this week (behind the goal?) so should be a decent following at least.

Not sure experience is the right word, it's been 16 years since they were last in non-league, and they're currently a bit of a mess behind the scenes with new owners expected through the door. Clubs who have bounced back have usually done so because they were set up right before they even went down. Cheltenham got Gary Johnson in charge. Likewise Bristol Rovers with Darrel Clarke, we had our ownership issues sorted the season before we went down, too late to arrest the decline but still in good shape once down there.

Very key, the problem is our current manager Neale Marmon will be moving to Sporting Director and helping to choose the new manager. Given he's done nothing to change the mess Darren Way left us in i'm not positive about next season.

Think we’ll sell at least the 2,000, not sure if we’ll get more on top. I hope we go down with some semblance of dignity and can avoid some Grimsby style scenes.

Has it though?

Yes the Notts County official twitter stated that we will finish as the 3rd best supported side this season in the division .

When you have been in the relegation zone or just above it all season , and have looked doomed for weeks now that can’t be argued surely ?

3rd best crowds for 22-24th best team ! If that isn’t impressive I don’t know what is ?

Yeah. 900 fills your section of the side stand. Approx another 2000 behind the goal of the uncovered end. Be warned, the toilet facilities there are pre-historic and are, I think, mobile bogs.

After the recent insipid displays and Wellens telling the players that 80% of them will be gone in the summer, we’ll have a team with loads of youth teamers.

Doesn’t seem fair on Macc, but believe me, the so called first teamers have been a disgrace. At least the young ‘uns will put some effort in.

Clearly they thought they could just blend into the throngs of the Taunton night-time scene and not be given a second's look.

I've already posted about this but to reiterate our players have been doing this after most games in recent months. It's not just the players but some of the management - Paul Terry in particular. The club have released a laughable apologetic statement allegedly from the people involved (it obviously isn't).

Macc players not paid again according to North West Tonight. Hardly ideal preparation for a crucial game coming up.

Never doubted him...... :bg:

All jokes aside fair play to him, he's done a great job keeping them up considering how bad they were before he took over, argubally smallest club in the EFL with a turbulent off field situation and his first gig in management, be interesting to see if he can progress them onto comfortable mid table next season.

Well done to #MaccAttack. There looked enough about you at our place the other week to suggest you'd get over the line. Always handy to keep ticking the points over when you're down there.

A crazy season for Notts given last season and the money spent in pre-season. That's two Clubs with top end budgets being relegated in as many seasons. They'll be back at some point, but from the outside, they don't look like an Orient/Bristol Rovers/Tranmere type, more a Grimsby/Lincoln one.
