Despite earlier rumours tonight Darren Moore has come out of nowhere to be odds on favourite with BetVictor…

Kennedy second favourite and Mark Bonner third (also rumours Bonner was interviewed today)

Yeah, people come out of nowhere when you've a betting market solely for a handful of lower league weirdos. Put a fiver on and see for yourself if the market shifts.

Anyway, you're not getting Moore, but Bonner at Vale would be interesting, Think you'd find a lot of good will coming from us, as long as it's not at our expense, even if it would seem like a bit of an odd fit but one that could come off well for both sides.

Not that it matters, enjoy Kennedyball ya Burslem Badmen.

Would have thought Bonner would be a good fit to be honest, did well largely at Cambridge, knows the division.

We are not as attractive a job at the moment because of the situation we are in but come the summer its a club with some decent (all be it currently injured) players and well backed off the field in terms of facilities with very good willed owners and a lot of good kids coming through the system (all be it I would rather we werent having to throw them in the deep end right now in the way we are having to with the threadbare squad available).

Whatever happens come the summer if they want Flitcroft to come through this they will need to back the new manager either to avoid this situation next season or to bounce back at the first opportunity.

Really going down the list if we’re now looking at a character from Neighbours. If it was my call I’d be looking at Bonner, even if went down he has a promotion from L2 on his CV so would give a shout at immediate return.

Not what we need right now.

Won’t be popular with Vale fans either after that horror tackle on Talbot all them years ago that was so bad Talbot got a massive payout!

I remember the tackle well as it was down in front of me at the Bycars end. Think it was Watford we were playing that night, was a disgraceful challenge and let’s just say Talbots leg went a way that it was not designed to do.

Yes - Robbo certainly had a reputation for being tough but going too far at times .

Just to settle an old argument I heard an interview today from a former vale and Cambridge player Leon legge saying vale are a bigger club than Cambridge.

I'd say so yeah. We're probably still in the same bracket bigger picture wise.

Quickly descends into 'bald men and combs' if you actually want to get into it, so I've no appetite for that with my luscious mane.

At this moment in time I'd probably say similar. I'd say potential wise that Vale could probably attract a bigger crowd but it's splitting hairs.

We're in a group of similar sized clubs in this division though who are all trying to be 'least shit'.

Yeah, probably about right,

Let's just both keep out of the shit for now and then start worrying about the potentially skinnier looking window of being least shit next season.

Didn’t know it was being debated to be honest. Historically we’d be bigger but doesn’t help the here and now, probably similar budget and as said in that group with teams like Shrewsbury, Lincoln, Bristol Rovers, Orient and Northampton at this level who are likely to be bottom half/mid table and realistically will struggle to go back up again so main aim is to survive first and foremost and anything else is a bonus.

The days of the 90s are long gone for us sides being second tier regulars with finance as it is in football now.

I was told that we've only conducted one formal interview and that person will be unveiled early next week....which suggests that this person was first choice and the interview was just a formality.

Surprised there's as much enthusiasm for Moore as there appears to be from Vale fans.
Not a massive pool to pick from at the moment. Ainsworth would get a huge reaction but think wouldn’t suit our players or way we play, that’s more down to his legendary status as a player. That said we’ve ruined some of those legacy’s from that era by giving them the managers job!

I'm a bit dubious about Moore. He nearly messed up promotion with Sheffield Wednesday in spite of them having the biggest budget and best players in the league. I could have got them promoted.

Our budget and current squad is a million miles away. He also comes across as a bit well.....thick. I'd rather have a Bonner, who would seem like an appointment for the long term and always comes across as articulate. He just went a bit stale at Cambridge.

He broke all sorts of records last season there… didn’t he almost keep WBA up from an impossible position? Decent win record at Doncaster as well.

I would take Bonner but may be more of a gamble, Cambridge were very lucky to get out of it last season, given a massive leg up by yours truly of course!

It’s very strange.
He doesn’t appear to be a good manager.
But beggars can’t be choosers I suppose.
I hope he knows his way around the 4th division

Based on what?

Nearly kept WBA up in the Premier League against all odds. Did a decent job at Doncaster. Got Wednesday promoted last season with a ridiculous points tally and a remarkable turnaround in the Play Offs.

Sound. We'll just appoint Kennedy instead. Top gaffer him, Andy Crosby 2.0.

Talk is Kennedy was about to be given it hence there Tuesday then Moore applied and that was that.

Odd though that it seems it wont be announced until Wednesday, surely would have been good for him to get involved now even if too soon to take tomorrow.

Only just got promoted..
Hasn’t done a great job this season with Wednesday or Huddersfield.
Will he be able turn around a sinking ship with a Flitcroft sized muzzle tied around him?
Will anyone for that matter?

He got 96 points, that usually gets you up in fairness... Ipswich were spending mega bucks and Plymouth had a fantastic season to overhaul both them so don't think he did badly, and obviously there were issues at Wednesday this season early doors.

Did a good job at Doncaster Rovers and a 47% win rate at WBA, not sure what else you'd want in our position? Surely a great appointment. Plus cant see him taking any muzzles being put on by Flickers which is probably whats needed.

If he came in and we went down, I would fancy him to give us a good chance to come straight back. Not sure who is a better option currently.

He left Wednesday because the owner is an absolute weapon, that's why.

Huddersfield have been shite ever since they bottled promotion. Hardly just a Darren Moore problem. Not many managers around who haven't had a poor spell somewhere. Mourinho has been sacked everywhere he's been pretty much. Still got an outstanding record though.

Agreed. I think Moore is a cracking appointment for Vale. I'd back him to avoid relegation and get Vale up the table next season.

My only worry would be him potentially walking away if he does well and a bigger fish comes in, like when he was at Donny. That's a long way off though.
