After beating FGR all the ducks where in a row, but a shocking Easter put everything into perspective, all runs come to an end but we beat ourselves today, Newport did ok but it should have been at least 3-1at half time, the free kick was very questionable for the goal, but when a player like Keiron Lee misses from a yard out, then misses an easier chance straight after, you just know that you will pay a price. So despite just 1 point in 6 we are still in the mix and all to play for. I think it will come down to who loses least rather than wins most. Lots of nervy teams on show.

Seems to be a recurring theme recently. Teams beat us and think they must be good, then they play other teams and realise it’s more that we’re a bit shit.

Sounds like the best player in the league Kieran Lee had an absolute mare today. Very quiet on here again....
Had a genuine shocker mate. Fantastic running all game but wait till you see the chances he missed. I’m still stunned hours later. Hope that doesn’t cost us. We have thrown away 2 games in a few days where we should have had 6 points and ended up with 1.

The chasing pack have dropped points over Easter. What do people think that tally is now to finish in the top 3? 78/79?

Exactly that ... 79 I think. I said I thought we needed 7 wins from last 10 for us. Results have been mostly kind so I think we need 5 wins from 7 now for the 79. Anything more is a bonus, anything less is playoffs or worse

Fantastic point and a superb 10 points from 12 against FGR, Carlisle, Morecambe and Tranmere.

I'd like to see the pen again but from first reaction it looked soft. We weren't at our best but Tranmere weren't that great either. Results elsewhere very very good too so a big point and we move onto Exeter with 6 more to play.

Forest Green gone, Bolton bottling it, Tranmere won't make the top 3 but from what I've seen Morecambe could be the late team to the party.
Ridiculous to assert that a team won't make the top three that is currently sitting third. The reality is that any team from 3rd down to 7th, or even below, that puts a run together can make third place.

I thought we were the better side and should have won the game today. In the first half we had two or three decent chances in addition to the goal but did not put them away, which has been the recurring theme since Vaughan's injury. The passing and movement was good however.

Cambridge improved after the break but still created little or nothing in open play, and the penalty decision was dubious.

Signs of improvement for us and we remain in the mix for automatic promotion, which I did not think would be the case if we failed to win either game this weekend.

Think the top 3 will come from the top 4 and Morecambe......FGR are gone

Over the ninety minutes, Rovers were the better team, but after a quality early goal finished by Lewis and a free-kick from Feeney, which hit the bar, we rarely troubled Cambridge second half, can only recall a long range effort from Otis Khan forcing a save. Without Vaughan, we're struggling to convert chances into goals and one goal is rarely enough.

Our players seemed incensed by the penalty decision, I wasn't sure, but probably file in the debatable rather than outrageous category. It certainly jolted the team and there was an uncomfortable ten minute spell after we conceded, when the visitors could have taken the lead, before we got back into the game. Some woeful crossing particularly from Feeney, who's normally been red hot in that area and the game fizzled out with Rovers lacking a killer touch and Cambridge seemingly happy with the point.

Cambridge are a side who'll keep battling and get something out of games, even when not at their best and that's the kind of form that gets you promoted. Goal aside, Mullin was fairly quiet today and Ironside kept Manny Monthe occupied. Both of the full-backs had decent games, though not impressed with Iredale's Joss Labadie style screaming to get Lewis booked.

That Rovers are still in the mix despite a downturn in form suggests how tight this league is. If Jay Spearing's injury is serious, then we're missing 3 of the core players and the other, Clarke, is reportedly playing on through the pain barrier. The real problem, as RLC highlights, is the lack of goals and Nugent hasn't given us any hope to remedy that.

Why is it ridiculous? I’ve seen both you and Morecambe the last week and they really impressed me. You look good in passages of play but were toothless. I think the Vaughan injury will cost you and Spearing doing a hammy isn’t ideal either.

We weren’t at our best but managed to get a point. Performances are irrelevant at this stage of the season it’s all about results and 10 points from a possible 12 is a great return.

I just think Morecambe will finish top 3 and Bolton will go up in the play off’s.

You are proberBly right about Mullin but to be honest it wouldn’t bother me greatly if we go up.

All I’ve read all season on here is it’s a freak season for Mullin. The reason he is scoring so many goals is our quality to create him chances and lots of them.

Sounds like you could do with him on the pitch as Doyle can only score from in the box. Mullin scores all types of goals.

It is ridiculous because after 39 games we are third on merit. Vaughan is the only key outfield player we are definitely without at the moment, and he is likely to be back in a couple of weeks.

It is a particularly strange comment given that we have been the better side in both games against you this season, despite being in poor form at the time of both matches.

Our short term form is average, but that can change rapidly as we have seen with a number of other sides recently. In reality, nobody knows which team will take third place.

Only had the radio for our game today and we sounded a shambles for the first 15 mins or so, and then got back into the game before getting our equaliser. Then had a goal harshly disallowed (though that's going by our usually fair commentators). Second half we were quite dominant, but still offered Grimsby a couple of chances thanks to our England u21 keeper having to keep up his quota of one complete brainfart per game.

A much better point for us than for Grimsby given results at the top end. 5 more wins guarantees promotion. I like the sound of that.

What a dull 2 hours that was, only thing worse than the 22 players was Carl Boyeson. Sick of all these journey men refs that don’t have a clue, thankfully he was crap for both sides today but ruined any chance of a game.

This is a forum and we are all trying to predict points to go up and teams who will finish in the top 3. I don’t think you will. Just my opinion and that has nothing to do with us both taking 2 points off each other.

We’ve only played 2 games since. And to be honest we played better today than we did against you...

Well that makes me feel much better.

I suppose maybe it was our excellence that made you look worse....

The contentious penalty decision in today’s game hasn’t been helped with the referee quoted as saying he did not know who had made the alleged foul. Not 100% sure myself.

Morecambe are just continuing as they have all season. No real change in their form. If they keep that consistency up, maybe they make it.

We're definitely good enough to get top 3. So frustrating today. But we also needed a better performance than the last few. We got that but were more wasteful.

Not a pen in my eyes now I’ve seen a few replays. Bodies everywhere though so can see why the ref would give it but I think he’s guessed it.

I had to watch it a few times to figure out which player had made which challenge - the player on the floor had actually come from the far side of the box and I assume he’s the one penalised. I’m not sure either way but it’s messy as hell and there’s enough limbs in there to leave a decision to be made. I agree with svh that it looks like he’s guessed it. That’s not to say it wasn’t a foul, just it’s hard to tell and therefore we got lucky as refs normally err on the side of the defender in those.

We didn’t play well today but we got the luck we needed and dug out the draw which is a trait I can rarely remember us having in the past. There’s a hell of a lot of grit in this team, they’re making their own luck at times.

Even in the worst case scenario of Morecambe winning both their games in hand and Tranmere or Bolton winning theirs it leaves us four points clear of fourth place with six to play. Still work to do but I’d much rather be in our position than anyone else’s (including probably Cheltenham).

Must be so annoying for Tranmere. Can’t even foul people in the box and get away with it anymore, fuming!
