Plane crash killed 76 people out of 81, the team were on their way to their first ever final and were a fourth division club not too long ago.

I said this on Twitter but this club is a minnow from Brazil. They were in the 4th tier 4 years ago and they've worked so hard to get this far to the Copa Sudamericana final. They worked so hard for their small town of Chapeco. You look the the celebration of the fans and the players after they beat San Lorenzo in the semi-final and it just makes you teary eyed. What a horrible tragedy. Also, great gesture from Atletico Nacional to request the trophy be awarded to Chapecoense.

No they haven't. These rumours seem to be springing up all over the place on Twitter, which I find really strange. What sort of person would make up a lie like that?

Same goes for the rumours about Cristiano Ronaldo donating €3m.

I read somewhere that the plane was either Venezuelan or Bolivian. If it was Venezuelan then it doesn't surprise me. Venezuela is a country that can barely keep its power running for 15 minutes.

I do believe it was Bolivian though.

I do believe it was Bolivian though.

It was Bolivian. Think the pilot was offered a refuelling stop but declined. There would normally be a refuelling stop at a different airport but because the plane was late setting off that airport was closed and the pilot decided not to divert to another one.
