Ex pat brummie or going by his username he may of started following football when we won the league and European cup in 81-82. Are there any brummie villa fans on here ? For once I think El Guapo may be right.
1st trip to Villa Park was in '76. Really started going properly from 1980. Became a Season Ticket holder on Holte End in 1981and then started travelling away from 1983. Went nearly every game home and away, except for Europe, for 4 years and then moved to London in '86 and went whenever I could. Have always preferred away games just something much more exciting about the whole day.

Nice part of the world is studley, done a bit of work there over the years.
It was an alright place to grow up as a kid and was definitely very much a Villa place. Can only think of one family of Bluenose's and that was mainly because one of the lads was on their books for a while.

first game was against palace in 89. Started going regular 94 with my grandad and uncle, but after the 94 season my grandad could not stick it anymore because of the ground changes with the holte end terrace gone. Just wasn't the same for him once it got turned all seater. I live about 30 miles away from brum but there is loads of villa in the surrounding areas so it's all good. The whole footy scene is getting worse as the years go by and it's not cheap anymore.

It's certainly not cheap anymore. I'm sure my first season ticket was £15 and it used to cost bugger all to go on the football specials.

It's a shame. Without sounding like a caveman but it's all too family orientated now and way overpriced.

Like yourself, he is one of many who took the easy option of following Villa at the expense of supporting the so-called 'smaller' local clubs. There is always a story that never involves Villa winning the European Cup or being the only ever-presents in the Premier League. Same category as the Brummie Reds.

wrong. My grandad is a brummie. He started going villa after the wars and went every season up until 94. He had kids and they became villa fans, his kids had kids and we became villa fans. That's how it works mate. There was no choice for me, it was villa or no one. I've remembered us being very good and also awful too. I've got more respect for blues than I have the brummie reds and that goes for most villa fans. Wolves,Walsall, west brom,Stoke, vale are all probably closer to me but like I said I come from a villa family. No excuses, it is what it is. We are not all knobs you know.

Villa have never been "awful" in your time supporting them, if this is as bad as it's been then by christ you've been spoiled.

Anyway can we stay on fucking topic as wading through tonnes of posts to find info is boring.

If bottom half of the Championship is as bad as it's been while supporting your club then you've had things pretty easy.

Possibly quite boring though, PNE might be shit but i've seen all four divisions, three promotions, a relegation, 9 failed play-offs and 1 Wembley win.

You must be another oldie then. Got to be older than me as I can't remember Preston being in the top flight. When was the last time, guessing sometime in the 70's but really don't know. As you say these Villa and Newcastle fans don't know what it means to be truly awful. Suppose they gauge it by their (high) expectations.

Ha, I meant all three FL divisions, i'm 28, fuck knows why I wrote that, doubt i'll ever see us in the top division.

Supported North End since 95/96.

We haven't been in the top flight since 1961, last cup final was 64.

As we've said before it's all relative - Ok my Club may never have been in a crisis whereby we've been close to financial ruin but that doesn't mean I haven't seen an awful football team producing awful results. Under Pardew we lost by 3 or 4 goals 17 times in a 12 month period. On the pitch that is a pretty terrible team and the same can be said for Villa last year.

Wolves slash ticket prices in half for home game against Sheffield Wednesday in november. Think it's something to do with Steve Bull and Andy Thompson joining the club 30 years ago, almost to the day.
Just applies to home fans, Think Wednesday are £30.

Bent c***.
didn't you take 4500 there last season? It's rare they give teams that lower tier and that bit in the corner. We had it in a friendly game, and I'm hoping they give it us in the league but I doubt it.

Yes for an end of season dead rubber, we've only been given 2500 this time.

I don't mind paying whatever if it's equal for both sets of fans but Huddersfield and now Wolves are charging us a premium.
Understandable, I wasn't laughing at the circumstances, just your reaction. It's a bit cheeky really.

All teams can do it for 4 games a season I think, where they do a promotion. It is just unfortunate it is against Wednesday twice

Got to try some sort of incentive to get the punters in when the smaller shitty clubs come to town. :2thumb::2thumb:

Take a bow Huddersfield Town! Only £10 (yes you heard me right) an adult for our Monday night TV game against them. Obviously I was going to watch from home but I can't turn down that price so it's the late dash from work for the teatime train across the Pennines for me. Cheapest away ticket for a league match I've had to pay for as long as I can remember so hopefully other fans will take it up. As for Huddersfield, barring our match I hope you kick on and stay in the playoffs!
