Pretty surprising appointment to be honest.
Its not like Flanagan has done much at Concord & Coyle had a big budget at Welling and couldnt even get them into the playoffs.

It seems like Dartford went for the cheap option if anything.

Not keen on Williams. Not the sort of player we'll need - very much a luxury player who won't be arsed and will go missing in the majority of games next season.

Well done to Braintree - Finished 7th, got in the playoffs on the last day and had to win three away games to do it.

Although the thought of us playing them at Cressing Road fills me with dread, as there will be huge demand for tickets from our end as alot of our fans live closer to Braintree than they do Leyton!

Braintree promoted. Can we just start their season now to avoid the 20 game backlog they'll cause in winter?
Getting there by train is an absolute pig as well, one line goes in and out of that part of Essex and if it breaks it causes chaos!

Yeah, I was gonna go one season when I lived in London. I would've had to get the National Express as the train wasn't running but obviously the game was called off.

I was looking forward to Hampton, shame.

Hampton don’t have much luck in Step 2 play-off finals do they?

Had a feeling Braintree would win the shoot-out, very little between the sides but they just seemed to play with more conviction after they equalised and it was written in the stars they’d win after all those epic away wins and an ex-player and fan favourite returning just after they got relegated last season.

The trainline to Braintree wasn't in operation when we played them in March, I remember speaking to supporters at the game where it had taken them over 4 hours to travel.

Adam Flanagan and Jamie Coyle between the pair of them will have enough contacts to assemble a squad challenging towards the top (Steve Cawley and some Welling players to join as my guess).

Speaking of Flanagan's former side Concord, they've today signed Ryan Hayes and Danny Green from Dartford and Chelmsford respectively on 2 year deals. Hayes was in the league's team of the season and still very effective as a right sided midfielder. Green has been plagued by injuries in recent seasons though so I'm questioning the decision to hand him a 2 year deal, even when he played against us last season he didn't pull up any trees either. I think his days of tearing it up in the Football League are gone (cue some fantastic performances against us).

Edit: I'll create a new thread for next season later on in the week, unless someone wants to do it in which case feel free.

Think they were 6th but still a good effort winning 3 away games in a week and a half.

I’m glad they did but an absolute joke that a team comes 6th and goes up.

Maybe they can expand it to the whole of the top half next year?

I was working at a game on a Tuesday night up in Braintree. Jumped on the train from Stratford as you do, had a nice walk from Braintree Freeport station and back... then found out all trains terminated at Witham due to engineering works. Fuckers.

Torquay have now signed up Jakub Sokolik for next season. Real solid player and a coup for a NLS team considering he came from Argyle who rated him in League 2.

So far so good...

Again - unconvinced. Did naff all in the previous six months, and appears to be a sick note. Cannot get excited about any of the current crop resigning - bunch of failures.

I always got the impression (at Yeovil) that Sokolik was a good defender in terms of 'getting stuck in', but had absolutely no brains behind it.

BTW just noticed Dulwich have been promoted to the National League for the first time in their history (although they have been at this level before when it was the Ryman Premier). Good on them (although it would have been nice to see my nearest team Hendon make it, they would have similarly made history), they've come close for quite a while and have had more their fair share of disappointments, like the cruelty of being demoted in 2004 after finishing 7th and losing a play-off tie on penalties against Wealdstone. Quite fitting that their biggest success should come via another shoot-out!

Hendon turned down the chance to join the Conference South when it was formed, so it was a voluntary demotion really.
