Dire performance from so many players. Coventry totally deserved that and their goals were extremely well taken.

I know how it must look ridiculous from the outside that we’re on Tisdale’s back but his tactics today were baffling. No pace in the team and when we’re 2-0 he brings on Lloyd James.

That said, emotions are raw now and he’s been great for us. I don’t know what will happen but whatever he decides, the decision needs to come quickly with only 4 weeks till Tuscan players are due back in training.

As a neutral fan watching the game, I don' think Tisdale got his tactics wrong today. First 45 he looked to keep it tight just like Robins did, and nobody can say what his second half tactics were as Coventry got their goal only a few mins in, and that goal swung the game in their favour.

The same Tisdale who was two games away from taking them out of the FL after a home defeat to all but relegated Torquay just a few seasons ago?

He's done well for them but I'm not convinced he's the be-all-and-end-all (I will be happy to be corrected by Exeter fans on this) - whoever succeeds him will be taking over a good squad with the club in a healthy state.

As a fan of a club who retained the same manager for 24 years, I never once called for his head during his first reign. This was despite Dario experiencing 3 relegations and being in season after season of relegation battles towards the last decade of his reign owing to our status in the Championship. He too, had the same brief as Tisdale and worked wonders. And during his times of struggle in his first reign, 99% of our fanbase refused to put pressure on him owing to where we were before.

Paul Tisdale took over a club, who for most of their entire history have been dogging it out at the foot of the fourth tier with Torquay, Darlington, Halifax, Hartlepool and Rochdale with a brief sojourn into League One now and then, and overhauled them at their lowest ebb in the Conference. He brought through an impressive group of young players and took them to defeat at Wembley, Wembley win and automatic promotion to League One in his first 3 seasons before consolidating at L1 level for two years despite selling all his best players. Sure enough, they got relegated, and they had a season or two of struggle in this division. But after two Wembley appearances in two seasons some Exeter fans actually want him sacked? Ridiculous!

If Tisdale was a Steve Davis inspired annual relegation battler then I'd expect supporters to want him sacked. But back to back Wembley appearances? Who do these minority of fans think they are? Is it because Plymouth are in a higher division they expect to be in the same league as them or something? Because if they get rid of Tisdale and replace him inadequately, then they might end up going down the same route as their other Devon neighbours Torquay if it's a manager who is at odds with Tisdale's philosophy.

Exeter are currently near their peak, get the replacement wrong if Tisdale goes, and they'll more than likely hit a trough...

I think we will get rid of tisdale now. Time for a fresh perspective and hopefully we do it automatically next year.

The league looks weaker so anything less than autos for us will be disappointing.

Had Coventry not won today they’d be a shoe horn in for top 3 next season. Feel sorry for Exeter especially as Tisdale looks to be on his way.
Next appointment for them is crucial to keeping that side together.

Anyway it’s a local(ish) derby gone for next season which can’t be a bad thing apart from traveling fans.

Very well said and thanks for that. It's just that I seem to remember quite a few fans (including on here when it was the old TFF) calling for his head during that season mentioned above when they flirted with relegation back to the Conference (but then a great many football fans are fickle, and unbelievably apparently some were doing likewise when they predictably struggled during their first season back in the third tier, so it's often hard to take their opinions seriously). Like you said, a small club like Exeter who have to constantly sell off their best players to balance the books like so many of their ilk and don't have a big enough squad to cope with mass injuries are always going to have their ups and downs.

This post is pretty much a case study in why the rest of League Two have taken against Coventry City, to be honest.

Had we lost today, I really think CCFC would've been on the final path to extinction. We wouldn't have been able to keep this team together, and another cut to the playing budget would have seen no chance of a challenge next year. This game was massive to the very existence of this club. As the way its gone, I'm going to stick my neck out and say we will be back in the Championship by 2021.

My commiserations to Exeter, losing two years in a row at Wembley must be horrible. The only downer today is that we had to beat such a fine bunch as Exeter to achieve promotion.
