Liverpool accept £27m Benteke bid from Crystal Palace.

Liverpool have agreed a £32million deal with Crystal Palace for striker Christian Benteke .
The Belgium international has been given permission by the Reds to travel to London to undergo a medical and sort out personal terms.
Palace will pay Liverpool £27million up front with a further £5million to potentially follow in add-ons.

32 million...not bad. See all we had to do was wait.

But Liverpool had paid him £32.5 million without bonus only one year ago, so it's not exactly a memorable deal :conf:. Furthermore I think he would have deserved more chances.

0.5 million loss in a grand scale of things is nothing lol. He got plenty of chances. Not a bad player, just didn't suit the system Klopp wants us to play with.

If it's the same clauses as reported before, enjoy your £27mill.

I still don't think it needs glossing over, a £5.5mill hit isn't all that bad when you're gambling on strikers. Compare it to Balotelli who you can't give away and it looks like a decent deal from the outset!

Even a £5.5 mil loss at worst isn't too bad.. that's like 18 weeks wages for Wayne Rooney. He scored some match winning goals last season too.

It's a shame it didn't work out as he is still a really good player, but not the right one for us. Glad we've recouped the majority of what we overpaid for him anyway especially as he was considered a laughing stock.

It isn't though. Why would we accept the same unrealistic clause we rejected before? It probably involves appearances, goals etc now

So you don't know but have decided for yourself it's not in there. Maybe you caved?

We know it was in there initially. It may or may not be in there still, but you're saying it's not. The payment structure might be all that's changed. The 27mill might come in a lump sum rather than over several years and installment. Or maybe nothing changed and your lot just decided it was best to do the deal offered.

It WAS. The reason their bid was rejected was because of the ridiculous addons (i.e. Palace winning the CL). Now this info regarding addons might not be true. Palace might have just increased the initial fee which will be paid in lump now and the rest over the years in installment. Or they might have just changed the requirements for further 5 million to such that Benteke needs to play X amount of games and score X number of goals. A more realistic structure.

Looks like we are signing Kaboul which as I said is a surprise as thought he was a Sunderland regular.

Asked for a move for personal reasons. Sad to see him go, played well for us.

Well, it also looks like you're getting Chelsea's Matt Miazga on loan.

He didn't play much for us but when we got him, we was said to be the best defender in the MLS and they rate him highly.

Good luck to him.

To be nearer London?

Another defender - I know the new manager like playing 3-5-2 but we have a few already and actually our defence is probably the strong point.

(Watch Chelsea beat us 5-0 or something now!)

Sunderland sign Steven Pienaar on a free. If they can get him fit, he could do a job for them. Was a great player for us, but has spent the best part of 3 years injured for us. Wish him well

Jay Rodriguez to Hull or WBA on a season long loan is doing the rounds at the moment.

That injury has ruined him.

That would leave us with Shane Long, Charlie Austin and shoved in striker Nathan Redmond as our only senior striking options and Dusan Tadic and shoved in striker Nathan Redmond as our only senior wing options.

We need a bigger squad due to playing Thursdays/Sundays most weeks, Les. I suppose we've got three right-backs at least.

He's finally dislodged Maxwell at LB and is currently our best player. No way is he leaving us to join small-time Liverpool and moreover no way are we letting him go.

I'm getting scared... The three biggest rumored players linked to Chelsea are Koulibaily, Lukaku, and James Rodriguez. The first two already said they will not come, and James is too big to be playing for Chelsea. I don't personally believe that, but I think that is what he believes, plus, he doesn't fit in Conte's system. There are quite a few positions Chelsea lack;

A Left Back
A Right Back
A Center Back
A Box to Box Midfielder
A Winger
and A Striker

Less than 10 days left in the transfer window, and there are so much players who don't fit or aren't good enough and we should replace them ASAP. Like Remy, Pedro, Cuadrado, Matic, Mikel, Ivanovic, Cahill, and thats just being generous. So much more players, I suggest we get rid of most of those players and start using youth or buy world class players.

Chelsea wanted to buy Koulibaily for 60m, but he won't be joining any time soon, Gimenez's release clause is 65m and he played great in the Champions League against teams like Bayern Munich, I'm pretty sure he can do great against teams like Stoke, or use our talented Tomori. Or bring back Christensen!

Also, full backs are hard to find, not much players are world class from the position, if it were up to me, I'd go for Arias from PSV and use one of our talented youngsters, Jay Dasilva or Boga. Or bring back Ake!

For Box to Box I'd go for Thiago Maia or Joao Mario, or use one of our talented youngsters, Charlie Colkett, Loftus-Cheek, Mason Mount. Or bring back Baker!

As a winger, we need someone who will do more than just bomb down the wing and cross to Costa, we need a player like Hazard who is not afraid to take on two or three players and get a goal from nothing. Or someone like Willian who will take over the right back position when we don't have the ball because Ivanovic needs help. I suggest we go for someone like Inaki Williams, today match was canceled because of racist chants towards him, I know won't really force him into a move but now he has an excuse for moving. Or use some of our talented Kenedy. Or bring back Musonda, Traore, Nathan.

For a striker I just want us to utilize our youth because we have two amazing first team strikers, let this guy be our 3rd choice over Remy, Dom Solanke. He is so talented and I fear he will soon want to go somewhere else for first team football. Also, Bamford as 4th choice. Also, Tammy Abraham and Brown would do great. If I had to pick two out of these four, I'd take Solanke and Abraham, so talented and would do great when called upon.

Yes, I know, nothing is going to happen, if anything, we sign 3 players for a total of 10m and they will play a combined total of 7 minutes, and we won't utilize our youth anytime soon, and we won't call anyone back from loan, but a boy can only hope and dream.

Reliable for what purpose?

I wouldn't like to wipe my arse on it but its football reporting is pretty good, I'd say.
