A boring episode, it had like 10 minutes worth of watching. Should have done the whole episode about that supply run and put some more interesting action to it than a fallen tree and gearshift advice. Thought the ambush scene could have been done a lot better and I don't know who thought it was a good idea to have Eugene bite someone's dick (through jeans, right...) to resolve the situation.

Obviously no one cares about the original Alexandriands dying. At least it was a cool death, but that's about it.

And what a major letdown the Carol thing, huh? She's been one of the toughest people and suddenly she has a "I'mma become a fucking hermit" level breakdown? What an anticlimax to her character.

Probably the best half of a season since the latter half of the third. So much action and character development in one swoop. I'm a bit past this point in the graphic novels and I can't wait to see shit going down.

I thought that was a shit episode. Pretty much nothing in it seemed believable to me. I don't think I'll be watching the next season, this show just isn't good any more.

It's been the best season yet. If the shit going down stinks as good as it did in the comics, then we're in for a treat.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan is a very talented guy and it is going to be very alien to see him in a villainous role.

Surely you don't mean the expert huntsman Daryl getting himself into a situation where he is ambushed like an amateur?

Yeah, that was pretty lol-worthy. These forest ambushes in general, as if it would be that easy to a) just happen to be in the right place and b) surround someone in the forest like that without they hearing you. Okay, I get it, the plot needed Daryl & company to be taken hostage, but it's just so lazy, unimaginative writing again how they got there. It's just shit TV, that's what it is.

And the Carol thing, too. I don't find it believable how she went from one tough bitch to this "eek, I don't wanna kill any more!" wreck. And even if she did, why would she run away from Alexandria? There are plenty of people there - the original Alexandrians - who aren't comfortable with killing. Carol leaves, because she doesn't want to kill any more. Five minutes outside, she's slaughtered a carload of people. Well, who would have guessed that to survive outside you might have to kill people. Also, maybe it works in comics, but not on TV, not for me, that she has some frigging uzi somehow hidden in her sleeve and she's able to use it that effectively. Finally, leaving a safe place like Alexandria on your own is basically a death wish, I don't know why they went after her, either.

This show just has too many shortcomings for me to keep on forgiving them. I'll watch the season finale and then I'll be done with this show. Will watch the 2nd season of Fear the Walking Dead, though.

How does that guy keep sneaking up on everyone? Is he some hidden genius or something? Meanwhile the rest of the Saviours are disposed of in their droves at every opportunity.

Enjoyed S5 more than S6.

When was it ever good?

So far this has been the best ever season of this show IMO. Still not great but it has at least been enjoyable. S1 is the only one that comes anywhere close in terms of enjoyment for me.

Seasons 1-4 were good, imo. In seasons 5 and 6 the writing has just gone badly downhill. The show's started to feel like it's not going anywhere and there have been like a thousand stupidly written things that you just can't take seriously.

This season has only been "best ever" in terms of fancy action. There have been a quarry full of walkers, there have been lots of bad guys to kill. But actually good writing, very little. A few also-also-also starring characters have died that no one cares about. The main characters haven't developed one bit - apart from Carol's totally bizarre breakdown. It's been all about Alexandria. 15 episodes and there's been one zombie invasion and one half-assed Wolves attack. It's been really slow-paced. But the average plot hasn't even been the main problem, that's been the thousand or so unrealistically written scenes they've made to get there.

I'd prefer less action and more intriguing writing. Season 6 has felt cheap in every way. Cheap drama and careful plot developments to try and not do anything too drastic that might upset the audiences, I suppose. But to me it's just been between boring and annoying.

Hmm, this is bizarre to me as I feel the exact same except for the opposite seasons. I absolutely hated seasons 2, 3 and 4 because I felt they were horrendously boring, clichéd, frustrating and made me roll my eyes every few minutes (They still do this now). 5 and 6 has been great improvements for me because the show has actually become fun to watch, it doesn't feel like a chore any more.

The writing has been shocking for all 6 seasons (2 in particular), so that hasn't changed, but the pace has picked up and the issue's they are addressing with this season in particular is nice breath of fresh air. Having a war with another faction and building to it feels much more enjoyable than the overdone "the world is different" narrative they have been cramming down our throats. I almost felt like the death with the arrow two episodes ago was a metaphor for the writers killing that narrative in itself as that character felt like the embodiment of "I must change because the world won't wait for me" shite.

It feels like the show has gone from attempting to tackle issues and failing miserably time after time to just embracing the "fancy action" and making the show enjoyable, to me at least, to watch again.

Fair enough, I can understand why different people could have these different views about the seasons. I preferred the first four seasons, I felt it was more about the every day survival and how different people coped with the zombie world. Seasons 5 and 6 have had more action, but they've lacked the grassroots level or whatever of how you cope in that world. Did you watch Fear TWD, btw? Personally I'm placing my hopes on that show now.

I haven't but it is on my imaginary "to watch" list. I have only heard that it is okay, good in patches.

Yeah, I wouldn't heap praise on the first season, but as someone who's been disappointed in the original show lately, it feels like a breath of fresh air, lol.

Biggest criticism for me is that I have lost all empathy with the characters. I just can't engage with Eugene, Abraham etc. Out of all the Alexandrians, Denise was the only one I liked and they killed her off with bloody crossbow to the eye. The show has gone to shit, I imagine after this series I'll stop watching and will just youtube the death scenes of any meaningful characters when they happen.

Did anyone catch the leaked audio of the last 10 minutes of the finale before it was taken down? Pretty much confirms certain rumours.

I must say that the first half of this season was great but the second half has been a bit cheap and naff in a way, first of all Glenn surviving that zombie horde was stupid especially after his now fake death was so shocking and it just seems to skip too quickly from one thing to the next and there isn't really a constructed plot going on apart from these Saviour people who just die so easily and the acting has been pretty bad from them as well. That Dwight guy was pretty good when he first appeared earlier in the season but since he came back he's been lame like when he was whistling in the woods.

As for Abraham I think he is one of the worst characters on the show and Gabriel's character has been ruined too, one moment he's always scared and crying after killing a walker, the next he's now a bad ass fearless priest with a gun.

So yeah it is too action now and not enough drama.

I'll see how the finale goes with this Negan fella and if it's more of the same then I don't think I'll watch anymore of it.

That FEAR The walking dead spin off show was totally abysmal.

It started off ok but then it just went stupid with the last episode for example where that Mexican guy just strolls up to the army base with the walkers behind him to overrun the base without breaking a sweat and it didn't even show him getting the zombies out of the arena.

Truly awful. :ffs:

In Fear TWD I thought it was only a minor problem how easily they got the horde of walkers to the compound, it was a much bigger problem how it was presented as morally totally justifiable to unleash those walkers on all those people just to save a couple of their own. That was a huge disappointment to me in the spin-off. But otherwise I was pretty happy with the FTWD and I remain optimistic that they might offer something fresh to the Walking Dead world compared to the original that has gone badly stale.

I hope FTWD gets better but I can't see that happening I'm afraid.

That ending was going exactly how I wanted it to go. Full of tension. Then they spoil it with a fucking cliffhanger.

That was a huge disappointment at the very end there. Cowardly TV show with cheap cliffhanger.

Thought Negan and that guy with the mustache were great though.

if only they had explored the character of the man who did that, if only they made him a sociopath and a retired professional torturer that might have served to explain it somewhat

Caps off a disappointing half-season. I was really liking where they were taking the show in S5 but that and the Glenn stupid cliffhanger cop-outs is really making me lose interest. I mean, I'll still watch it but what a load of shite. And the terrible blood effects for two episodes running that look like something from a PS2 game.

It'll be Eugene surely. Good to see Trevor off GTA in it though.
