is there still a bribe… I mean is there still prize money at stake for this god awful tournament?
10k per win i think.
Which ridiculously is more than you get in the league Cup rounds one and two

Yes I know it was this but it’s been queried on our message board because no one could actually find a link to prize money for 2023/24’s competition. Please tell me they’ve not removed the bri… I mean prize money but kept B teams in it.

You might be right, haven't they lost sponsors? If so, what the fccc are we doing entering this?

No risks from us tonight, arguably only one of our first XI starts.

Looking at it, we’re that short of players we’ve brought back RB Jay Benn, who’s on loan at Solihull, just for tonight - and they have a game!

Part of his loan agreement is that he can play in this competition for us if needed, likewise Charlie Kendall but despite needing a striker we’ve left him at Dagenham for theirs.

I believe we finished with no players with a number below 33. Basically our under 18s and Woods, who is useless.

As much as I don't care about the competition, it's an embarrassing result. Worst ever home defeat. Literally 0 positives to come out of it.

Least we beat them where it matters, in the league.

Nah I think it’s great. The more that clubs bring the competition into disrepute the better.

Plenty of positives, mainly no new injuries to first team players and less likely to have fixture congestion after Christmas

Reading brought 260 fans, I guess they haven't played in this for a long time and certainly since they made the format pointless!

Until we beat Swindon & Arsenal 1-0 each, go through with a GD of -7, win the next rounds 1-0 too and end up at Wembley?

2-2 with Fulham and won on pens, scored a 96th minute equaliser. Made 10 changes, giving game time to those that needed it.

First half we should've scored more goals, didn't take quite a few chances.

Max Sanders error gifted Fulham an equaliser out of nothing in the first half with their only chance, second half they took the one chance they had. I thought we was poor second half, didn't really get going and barely forced any chances apart from near the end, but scrapped an equaliser of our own when a last minute punt into our box somehow fell El-Mizouni's way to score.

Still in it but basically have to beat Portsmouth in 90mins in our last game to have any real chance of going through.

Warne used the competition to allow the team to play a bit of football, which was nice of him, before obviously reverting back to his usual game plan on Saturday of playing the ball into space, down the wings and putting about 40 crosses into the box.

Sibley was allowed 10-15 minutes in his natural position, and scored. He’ll be back on the bench for the game Saturday - perhaps get a run out at left back if he’s lucky. Why have the clubs most talented player and natural finisher on the pitch when you can employ a headless chicken to run around because of ‘the press’.

Still, a break from the shit we’ve been served up recently even if it was infront of the lowest attendance ever recorded at Pride Park. I think the lowest recorded attendance at the baseball ground was around 1600 so not really too many off that, considering. The Paul Warne effect!

Yep, as much as it was totally shit, I’m just pleased Kyle Taylor made his first start in 18 months and came through it. Plus important minutes for Scott, Watts and Fitzwater.

A real learning curve for our young players who aren’t ready for L1. I suspect we’ll loan some out to NLS clubs to toughen them up a bit.

Even West ham brought 100 or so to watch their kids. The first U21 side ive seen in this competition that are any good.
Bit poor of Exeter to hang the kids out to dry like that? should have a mix throughout the game to guide them

We got the runaround by City last season, best team we played against by a mile made Ipswich look like a dog and duck outfit!

They did have some of their better youngsters playing: Rico Lewis and Carlos Borges stood out - the latter due to being the quickest man alive and scoring a hattrick.

They also had Wilson-Esbrand is on loan to Reims now. Katonga, Breckin, Burns are all on loan at this level now. Bobb came on for the first team in the champions league last night, Charles joined Southampton this summer for £10m plus. It’s probably no surprise that we got done over, but they were excellent - Borges was unbelievable, not surprised Ajax chucked decent money at them for him. I wouldn’t be surprised if he turns out to be £100m plus pound player in the future.

That’s incredible, fair play Exeter I have new found respect for you.

They had around 1,500 home fans, so best put that respect back in the bin.

781 total crowd at Orient last night. Solid boycott.

The problem is we don't have depth in the first team, and have a lot of injuries at the moment. We can't risk any more injuries.
And I think we thought the youngsters were better than they are.

Well all the league matches are selling out so I guess people are just wanting to watch something.
Its only 20% of our normal gate, despite £8 tickets so a pretty strong boycott I think.

If I remember rightly it was the EPL teams contributing the bribe money - at least for the supremely meaningless early rounds (as the condition for being able to enter their kids) rather than the sponsors.

We had a mighty 442 (and I mean four hundred and forty two rather than a 4-4-2 team, before anyone makes the gag) turn up last night, which I believe is a record low attendance for any competitive game.

Really though I think the prize money is just giving back with one hand what you've taken away with another - so like many sides, we no longer have a proper academy because any time it produced someone decent, the big clubs could snap them up for peanuts.

But then that means that the reserves and kids don't have a competitive league to play in...so at least for that purpose, I don't mind the tinpot cup, giving the fringe players some first team competitive football is important.

Otherwise in the second half of the season, we just end up sending a bunch of our fringe players on loan (once we've been knocked out of the tinpot, and other cups), if they're not getting proper competitive football.

Only 0-9 Reading should have tried harder.

What made me laugh was the way Reading bigged-up the result failing to mention they were playing a team of quite literally kids. Just shows how desperate things are for them at the moment. I guess it passes the time till the next points deduction.
