I thought it was quite interesting. But then my Gran was Cornish so I guess I'm almost allowed to buy a second house down there?

New word of the day. ‘Grockles’.

Went to St Ives last year, was that what they were calling us? Fuckers.
We were in Camborne a couple of years ago and we went to a Tesco’s and when I went to pay and the woman on the till heard my Northern accent she looked at me like I’d just stepped foot off the Moon.

My Wife’s 2 Sisters were raised in Cornwall and one of them has since lived all over (Plymouth, Milton Keyes, Manchester and currently in Salford) and her accent is pretty interesting to say the least.

To be honest mate the Grimsby accent is a bit weird. I'd have said Jupiter rather than the Moon mind

We're much more welcoming here in glorious Devon. My advice? Avoid the Cornish at all costs, they can't be trusted.

Being a first time visitor, I was desperately disappointed by the lack of proper Ooo-Arr voices down there. They might have made a bit more of an effort, we could have flown to the fucking Seychelles in the time it takes to get there.

Also, Land’s End is crap.

My Sister in Law’s don’t disappoint in the ooo-aar stakes especially the one who still lives in Camborne.
The one who’s now in Manchester I’d say is around 75% country bumpkin with the other 25% a pissed out twang.
Agree about Land’s End too I was very underwhelmed although I’m not actually sure quite what I was expecting from it.
Thing I remember about visiting Land’s End was I had my GTFC top on so this random guy just started chatting to me about football telling me he was a Dulwich Hamlet supporter and telling me how excited he was that they were now in the same division as Torquay.

The reason for the lack of ooo-ar voices is because the bleddy Westcountry has been over-run with all you northern types with your flatcaps and whippets

...and, yes, Lands End IS crap

Next time you're in the Westcountry, avoid Kernow and head for the beautiful scenic Dartmoor

Edited to add: Tickets secured for next Saturday so any Grockles heading down to the 'Bay a bit of advice: Use the fucking M5

agree about Dartmoor. Though near us the South Hams, such as Salcombe, is really now west-London-on-sea.

There's still about 17 clubs around the London area in this league anyway.
Indeed, and they all share the same pool of talented 23 year olds who were released by Watford when they were 18 and are inexplicably ripping it up at this level without looking to move out of the capital.

You might have something there... my niece (born in Barrow) lives in Newquay - loves it down there - but other than being warmer it's just mainly countryside the same as Cumbria which is probably why non city dwelling northerners like it down there.
My brother on the other hand lives near Mansfield.... unlucky....

East midlands v Manchester (Manchestooohhh on pens)

Winners to play in the semis

Brummie v Mockney
That fucking rancid 'new' London accent v manchestoooohh

Brummie vs that fucking rancid new London accent in the final for me.

My middle sis did almost the opposite to your niece... born in Torquay and now lives in Broughton-in-Furness and married to a Brummie (which has got to be the most annoying accent on the planet).... Kipper Tie anyone? Milk and sugar?

'Elimination Round' sounds more like Gladiators than the NL PO's.
Hmm, you have an entertaining idea there. pugilsticks instead of penalties after extra time. Do you go for a big CB, fast small forward or the mad as a fruitcake goalie?

Has there not been a bit of a trend of the losing finalist from the year before going to or was that just a season or two ?

Talking of accents I remember playing Donny away some years ago and when they went 2-0 up their fans started chanting toe nail, toe nail at us. Strange people in Yerksha.

The tragedy for whoever wins tomorrow is that there’ll be a play off semi final. At Torquay. In June. And they won’t be able to get in. Covid is a bastard.

Land’s End is horrible and tacky, but the Lizard was absolute class.

I think that was just the 3 consecutive seasons starting in 2016 with us beating FGR then FGR beating Tranmere then Tranmere beating Boreham Wood.
Then thankfully Boreham Wood bucked the trend.

Whenever I've been to Aldershot, it sounds like their fans are proudly singing "Northern Scum, Northern Scum".

On topic, and to the fans of Chesterfield and Notts County: There's no point either of you bothering tomorrow, whoever wins will get a good hiding at Plainmoor next weekend, thanks to our new centre-forward Kyle Cameron. You have been warned.

Ooooof didn't realise it was Notts vs Chesterfield. That's a spicy playoff clash. I'm guessing there's no Chesterfield allowed in? Apologies if that's been covered already.

yep and the winner is away to Torquay in the semi-final, then probably face *Stockport....

*Stockport play at home to winners of Hartlepool v Bromley.

Nah, home only, capped at somewhere just above 4,000. Would’ve been a proper one with no restrictions and broken the record for a non-Wembley crowd down here. Alas.

Should be a good game anyway. Two young managers with many coaching badges and smart-casual quarter zip jumpers, one from Gloucester and one from Sweden. 3-6-1 vs 3-5-2. Notts’ movement and rotation vs Danny Rowe’s shooting. Our tiny team vs a very long throw in. Nathan Tyson will presumably score the winner after I declared him ‘finished’ and ‘unlikely to score another professional goal’ when we had him on loan in 2014.

Sorry, forgot Danish spreadsheet nerds vs the furlough system.

Tell you what I’m frothing at the mouth at the prospect of tomorrow’s game following that little preview

I’d like to see us line up in a 3-5-2 shape as you said. Although Rowe is equally as much a fan of a 3-6-1 with a 4 man box in midfield... so if that’s your preferred shape I wouldn’t be surprised to see us match you up like for like...

My team would be:

Montgomery (GK)

Evans (CB)
Gunning (CB)
Maguire (CB)

Carline (RWB)
Weston (CM)
Oyeleke (CM)
Taylor (LWB)

Mandeville (CAM)

Rowe (ST)
Tyson (ST)

That for me is our most balanced fit and available XI. Very solid workmanlike base with technical ability of Oyeleke, Mandeville and Rowe to hopefully make the difference. Although as you alluded to, Carline’s long throw has been effective all season (surprising as the last long throw man we had was the infamous muggleton and we never got close to scoring from one of his), so it would not surprise me in the slightest it our biggest threat comes from that!

Notts are a different animal to the one we faced earlier this season according to what I’ve read on here so no doubt will be a more difficult game for us. May the best team win...

So we'll probably be:

GK - Slocombe
CB - Brindley
CB - Ellis
CB - Chicksen
RWB - Kelly-Evans
LWB - Miller
CM - Doyle
CM - Reeves
CAM - O'Brien
? - Rodrigues
ST - Wootton

Rodrigues nominally plays upfront but pretty much seems to have license to wander about finding space wherever he can. Our resurgence has really come through his individual form (something like seven goals and five assists in eight games I think) and Calvin Miller's, who had done nothing since we signed him until returning to the team a few weeks ago like a man possessed.

The one bit of that where it might be different is at the back. That'd be two full backs playing as centre backs in a back three. We did it against Wrexham and Weymouth to good effect, they're really comfortable on the ball so helps us to dominate possession and gives a useful randomness to our attack because they get forward. But the flipside is it leaves only Ellis and Wootton with any height at all, and we were susceptible to set pieces and long balls as it was. Depends if Burchnall wants to stick or twist - the more cautious option would be Connell Rawlinson starting and Brindley switching to wing back.

I think which way it goes will depend on what kind of game it is. I reckon we're probably a technically better side and if it's an open game where we see lots of the ball then I think we'll win. If it becomes scrappy and more of a battle, then I think we'll lose.

I think we will go for Brindley and Rawlinson instead of DKE due to the height and Chessies long throws and set pieces.
Although I think DKE has much more of a threat going forward.

So

GK - Slocombe
LCB - Chickesn
CB - Ellis
RCB - Rawlinson
RWB - Brindley
LWB - Miller
CM - Doyle
CM - Reeves
CAM - O'Brien
? - Rodrigues
ST - Wootton
