Everybody's favourite League Two manager..

After a decent start, Notts County have reverted to type and (I think) have lost 7 on the bounce. Here's hoping for a repeat of the 5-0 thrashing last season, that Notts side was probably the worst team I've seen us play since we were relegated. Surely it won't be as easy here?

As for us, we struggled at Crewe and are still missing a couple key players, so I'm expecting another tough test.

1-0. Nicky Adams.

So many players and staff have been at both clubs in the last few years, and more often than not we've been in the same division either both gunning for promotion or both fighting relegation... needless to say we're pretty familiar with Notts County.

Good record against them too last season... for the second year running, our last game of the calendar year is against Notts. Beat them 3-0 at Deepdale last year in what was probably the highlight of our season... also beat them 5-0 on the last day of the season at Meadow Lane.

Our general plan of action this season is draw away from home, win at home, having won our last seven home games in the league, but drawn 7 out of 11 away. Many of those away draws have been pretty frustrating but if we keep winning at Brunton Park that's 2 points per game, which if we can add a few away wins should be enough for automatic promotion.

That said, if Crewe were having a bit of a wobble when we faced them, County's form is shambolic, if we're going to get three points away then this is the place.

Surely it won't be as easy here?.

Oh you'll be surprised.

We've gone five home games without scoring for the first time in our history. Two more defeats to equal that record. Making history, these boys.

Tbh we're all just waiting for the takeover to fully go through so he can sack Sheridan, fuck half of this team off and start again. They're hopeless.

HG hasn't weighed in yet... so I'll make his post for him.

Notts County are on poor form, but we are the team to play if you need to end a bad run. We're specialists at ending other teams' bad runs. I can see a County victory here, we've only just avoided defeat for the last ten games and the terrible football we've been playing has to catch up with us sooner or later.

1-0. Nicky Adams.

Nicky Adams is good at a lot of things, but shooting isn't one of them. He did get his goal earlier in the season, but otherwise he doesn't get into scoring positions and when he does find himself in one his attempt is usually a mile wide/over.

We need to put a cardboard cut-out of Charlie Wyke behind the goal and then just tell Adams to cross the ball to Charlie, that should work.

Just a random hunch he'll grab a goal, he could be a key player if the County defence are as fragile as last season.

Unfortunately I can't make it to this match, which is a shame as I like Notts County away, particularly last season.

I had us down to win these 3 games. So far we've won 1 and drawn 1. Anything less than a win here is really shit and 2 points from these 2 winnable away games would be a shocking return.

However after witnessing that shower of shite on Monday, I'm not as confident as I was. We're badly missing key players and looked a really poor team against Crewe and were very lucky to escape with a point. Any Carlisle fan who says differently was either not at the game or watching it pissed. Our overall results form is ok, but that performance at Crewe was alarming to say the least.

The fact Notts County aren't scoring goals at home terrifies me, but that's just because we're Carlisle United. I'm really hoping their lack of goals gives us the kick up the arse to actually go for the kill, attack and win away from home, instead of the usual going a goal up and then shitting our pants.

It's worse. Richard Duffy is genuinely a downgrade on the random lads Moniz signed from Holland who just tried to do stepovers in their own box.

We've gone five games without scoring at ML and our attack is the one part of our team that's actually alright. We really are fucked.

I'm going to stick my neck out and say we'll nick this.

2-1 win. Lambe and Ibehre with our goals.

I'm not very confident in the above prediction because if we play like we did at Crewe we will not win and will be lucky to get a point, however I'd be surprised if there wasn't some sort of positive reaction from us after such an inept display. To be honest it wouldn't take much to improve on it.
I am however confident that Notts will end their home goal drought.

Pompey have dropped two points tonight at Yeovil, a win tomorrow for us would be great. Portsmouth have Luton and Doncaster next too, a tough little run of games for them.

Is Russell Penn back with us? I'd be tempted to try him in the coming weeks, maybe not tomorrow mind.

Form book says away win. Our defence is collectively dreadful, but the midfield with players coming back is pretty strong .
Takeover is more or less complete ShEridan has to get some points from somewhere to save his skin . It may be that the new owner will change him anyway, two coaches have left this week and not been replaced.
Curle had us unbeaten away for a year so he knows how to make a team hard to beat , if you can score one that should guarantee you at least a point on Notts pathetic strike rate.
We did play better against Donny though, only falling to pieces when two of the midfield had to be subbed.
Head says 1-0 Carlisle, heart says we'll end our terrible run in front of a decent crowd, new owners and a more hopeful atmosphere 2-1 and play surprisingly well doing it.

According to Sky Sports, Penn is back. I'd be tempted too just because he's a proper defensive midfielder and Joyce needs a partner, it almost feels like if we can't play two holding midfield players we might as well play none.

I'd stick Penn straight into the middle for this one and see how he fairs as it's obvious that Kennedy goes missing once he's pulled back into that defensive role. I mean if you're going to try him out then it may as well be against a massively out of form team - at least he'll be fit with having been out on loan.

I still think we'll get beat, mind... 2-1.

No non-league today so a rare occasion being back following Carlisle today, shall be sitting in front of TV with radio Cumbria on and hope its a good game. Nearly went to this today because it was only a £20 return on train from manchester but gets back too late to catch buses out of manchester.

With Portsmouth flogging points, Donny currently losing and Notts slumping down the table its a game they really need to capitalise on.......could be safe by the end of the day.

No Penn, which is probably to be expected, but we continue with that rather weak midfield pairing of Joyce and Kennedy. Good to see Devitt and Jabo back in the starting line-up though.

Devitt surely won't be red carded again...?

Notts County sound like they've started the better, sounds like a lot coming down their right.
