I'm going to 2 quarter finals - the one in Marseille and then Bordeaux 2 days later. Staying 1 night in Marseille then train across to Bordeaux (6 hours!) and staying there for 2 nights.

Looks like it'll be Spain v someone mediocre in Marseille and then Germany v Italy/Belgium in Bordeaux. Can't complain too much at that.

Only chance of seeing England (or Wales) is if they come 3rd in their group then pull off a shock win over Spain in the first knock out round. Seems unlikely!

Germany v Belgium ticket would be worth a fair few quid. Think I'd be tempted to sell as I'd have no interest in the match. Although I understand a lot of people do

I'm being a total football tourist. It's not a game that would bother me normally but I'm going just to soak up the atmosphere and have a lads' trip away. Missing England isn't something I'm worried about though I have a feeling they might be playing on the day between our games so should be able to get heavily on the sauce then. :)

No I'm not going to any group games, just the two quarter finals. We picked quarter finals as it's too risky picking last 16 games if you want to see the top sides.

Edit: and the final was likely to be in high demand, semis would be so far away from each other to get to each one and actually enjoy it etc.

Just booked a flight today on the basis England will be in lille for the quarter final. £17 from Manchester to Brussels on the morning of the match. It's only an hour from lille gotta be worth the risk.

In 'shock' news the majority of the unsegregated seating for the England v Wales game has been bought by British fans.

France have called up Giroud, but Lacazette, Gameiro, Ben Arfa and Dembele only make the reserves list.

I know Giroud is a different type of forward to any of those, but I still think he's extremely fucking lucky to be going ahead of those players given the season he's had.

I've tried a few times but failed to get tickets through the portal for Northern Ireland v Germany and the first knockout stage game for the winners of Group B, both in Paris. Any other genuine way of getting these or reckon I just give up?

Just like Moussa Sissoko. Or Cabaye.

They're lucky, Giroud is streaky as fuck and he's just started to get going again. Pretty sure Wenger has been playing him so he eventually hits form for France in the Euros. Lacazette has had just as much a topsy-turvy season as Giroud as so probably doesn't deserve to be in there ahead of him. Gameiro hasn't been involved with France for years so not really surprised there either.

No. Lacazette has a very good 2nd half of the season. The same cannot be said about Giroud.

Really. Giroud has 16 in 38 while Lacazette has 21 in 34 in the league...

From whoscored

Giroud: 24 goals 6 assists in 2819 minutes
Lacazette: 23 goals 3 assists in 3463 minutes

For me the more surprising thing was taking both Giroud and Gignac (I've heard he's been playing well...but in Mexico). But ultimately in Giroud vs Lacazette Giroud offers an aerial threat whereas Lacazette is pretty similar to Martial/Griezmann.

If France don't take Lacazette in their main squad, they're mental.

Not much strength in depth in that squad if Schweinsteiger and Podolski can get in, its a great first team though!

Not sure what Low has against Schmelzer, Hector is a good LB though. But full back is definitely a weak spot now Lahm has gone...Rudy?

Nice to see the Mariossance continue, but it's a bit odd to not see Klose in there anymore. Not sure how Podolski is still getting in the team, social media mascot maybe? The midfield is incredible though.

Let's compare on the whole season shall we? Those stats could be taken from any game this season.

Agree re Gignac. I would have taken Lacazette over him but Giroud to me has to be taken just for what he offers. Very few French fans I know want Giroud off the squad. If he's in a good mood he can win us the damn thing!

Still no striker then? Taking Gomez is clutching at straws. Germany have a big, big problem ahead. Great to see Brandt, Sané and Weigl in the squad though. Obscenely good players given how young they are.

Yeah, we have very limited options upfront.

I think Löw will play a more defensive style and we dont need any world class striker upfront. Cant imagine any defensive line could handle a Brandt-Reus-Sanè attacking line. Gomez for the tap in then.
