Get yourself in the Fan Zone before the game (big marquee in front of the main stand), it was well-used by FGR fans last season and they were very welcome. Great beer/ale selection, and a friendly atmosphere.

Great choice of beers in that tent! Not badly priced either! Lovely bunch as well.

Sure someone at Gateshead said something about being told Villa will be in for Ethan at the end of the season. No idea if that's true but he's def good enough.

I've not seen a defender at this level with this much confidence and ability at such a young age for a while, certainly the biggest prospect in this division atm Imo.

What an excellent, entertaining game of football at The New Lawn today. Especially after that horrific 0-0 draw we had to suffer against Southport last week. I thought we were the better team in the first-half. FGR went ahead after a goalkeeping error. We equalised with what will surely be our goal of the season when centre-back Joey Jones decided to shoot from 35/40-yards, that flew in off the underside of the bar.

Second half we went ahead through a superb Ugwu header. Then we immediately conceded from a corner. FGR had a penalty saved. They really penned us in and we couldn't get out at all. Eventually they scored two minutes from time - great cross and finish. The knock-off version of Bogle then got his second in injury time, I thought Poke should have done better to keep it out. We still managed to get one back.

Forest Green - They played the best passing football I've seen this season, no one better than them at it in the division. Their movement, fluidity and the speed at which they passed it, especially in the second half, was impressive. Obvious question marks over their defending, our goals didn't come on the counter-attack so it wasn't a case of their style hindering their defence. Forest Green's passing is a world apart from the dross they played under Pennock and the other guy they had. Poor support from FGR. No noise and a desperately average attendance of 1500 something, with 100 from Woking, for a team challenging at the top.

Other results went our way, we didn't get smashed in a game we expected nothing from, so a pretty good day.

Chris FGR got run through Nailsworth too.

Sorry, meant to quote Tom. Not sure I'd take 3 days off work and book a hotel for Tranmere ;)

My view of the pen incident was a completely unnecessary push when our lad wasn't going anywhere. That was a belter from distance too. Interesting you thought our passing was quick, I get frustrated that we seem to slow it down too often but maybe been spoiled by our better performances. Defence was a bit makeshift with Wedgebury at RB but we have been frail even at full strength.

Yes, agree about the penalty. Thomas was clearly frustrated with himself for letting the player get to ball and wanted to make up for it too quickly. The FGR player was facing away from goal and going no where. Thought the player went down easily, anyone would, though, as soon as they feel contact from behind when in the box.

There were times when you didn't pass it quickly and that was when it became comfortable for us. In the first-half we pressed really well and restricted you from playing out and through midfield. We tired in the second half and were forced back deep into our half.

What were your opinions of pinnock and omar?

You think you'll struggle to keep Ugwu, Sparrow?

It's often difficult to pass an opinion on the performances of opposition players as you're usually only interested/watching your own closely.

Pinnock was the centre-back, if I'm thinking of the right player. Looked very comfortable on the ball, as did all the FGR players. Brought the ball out of defence well and generally dealt comfortably with Ugwu and Bonne's threat. Bogle v2.0 did what he was required to which was to make an impact on the game. Took his two goals well. I can't say I noticed much more to his all-round game in the 10/15 minutes he was on, for the above reason.

I thought Carter, who missed the penalty, had a poor game. He's always looked a bit carthorse-y to me when I've seen him in previous years too. Good decision by Cooper to bring him off 10 minutes before the end. It made the difference.

Your game against Tranmere on Tuesday should be a cracker.

You think you'll struggle to keep Ugwu, Sparrow?

Most likely. Almost certainly if we get relegated. Having played in the League there will be clubs with an eye on him. I think he would benefit from playing regularly at this level for another season. Still seems quite raw at the age of 23. Needs to push on now with his development and that comes from consistent game time, not sitting on the bench of a League Two club.

Haha!

Heading up Tuesday afternoon! Went to last years 1-1 draw but drove up. How bad is the walk from the merseyrail station?

Cheers!

No trains whatsoever from lime st at the moment you will have to walk down to james st which is by the seafront and get the chester or ellesmere port train to either birkenhead central (2m) or rock ferry.

If you get off at central turn right out of the station walk for about 20 yards rhen left onto borough rd, stay on that road.

If you get off at rock ferry turn right out of the station bedford road and keep walking until you get a coop on your left turn right at the lights onto borough road you will see the ground.

Cab will be about a fiver from either station

Don't forget the soccerbus from Liverpool, £2 each way:

"For midweek games two TR1 services will run at the following times:

6pm Dale Street, 6.02pm Victoria Street, 6.04pm Lime Street, arriving Prenton Park at 6.30pm.

7pm Dale Street, 7.02pm Victoria Street, 7.04pm Lime Street, arriving at Prenton Park at 7.30pm.

The return service to Liverpool Whitechapel will depart Prenton Park directly after the game."

Woking aren't a bad side tbf, think they'll stay up based on that. Their first and second goals were absolute belters. Nice to play another side who want to have a proper game and keep the ball on the floor.

Our game at Tranmere won't be 0-0, that's for sure. We've shipped 29 goals in our last 13 league games, so fuck knows how we'll cope with their attack. BT missed a trick not sticking that game on the box me thinks.

We're hardly prolific - we have (by far) the worst 'Goals For' tally in the top 5, and have the tightest defence. 0-0 is a wholly realistic scoreline!

I've not tried the Soccerbus yet, but probably the easiest way to get to the ground.

Think there are still no trains under the Mersey next week, but replacement buses run from opposite Lime Street to Birkenhead Central.

You haven't seen us play, have you?

We don't usually do defending. I would be amazed if we keep a clean sheet.

Weve scored 25 in the last 10 games since new year so we are turning the corner going forward also since the end of september only gateshead and dagenham (twice) have stopped us scoring in 26 games played

We're the highest scorers (in all comps) in our league since Mickey took over. Just Brabins team only scoring 15 in 14 games!

I reckon it'll be a goal-fest as Pancake Day falls FLAT for Tranmere when we BATTER them at home, joy on the pitch for the Green Army while the Super Whites are all MARDY on the GRASS.

YEAH!

There's no team I enjoy beating more than Eastleigh, although Lincoln and FGR run them close.

Ricky Miller gets the plaudits yet again but credit has to go to those around him for creating so much. The side looks so much more balanced now we have Devs and Healy in, and N'Gala had a decent debut. Oh how Eastleigh could have done with him.

Eastleigh not as poor as the scoreline suggests but far from impressive.

If we'd had this squad from the start of the season we'd be title contenders. Really hope we can extend Deverdics' loan to the end of the season.

We are down, Nicholson is just clueless, we had two shots all game and scored them both yet created nothing else in the 80 mins that their keeper was injured/the right back was in goal. Takes off Brett Williams after 65 mins for Shaun 'Prolific' Harrad (7 goals in his last 70 games). The club is dying and relegation will kill the club off completely and allow GI to redevelop Plainmoor. Can't see us winning any of our six pointers, we can beat FGR and Gateshead yet look at our record against bottom 8 sides around us;

North Ferriby L
Southport L
York WD
Maidstone LL
Woking LL
Guiseley L
Braintree W
Sutton LL

York, North Ferriby and ourselves look doomed, who's the 4th joining us?
