The sad truth is that Salford, if anything, underperformed on their budget and went up because so many others underperformed.

Sutton, Aldershot and BW all crashed, Barnet and Chesterfield blew top 5 budgets, Wrexham didn't turn up for the playoffs, Fylde didn't turn up for the final... this isn't like when Crawley and Fleetwood won the title down here and tore the rest of the league apart, Salford were rank average and everyone else needs to bear responsibility for underperforming.

He does actually, easy street and paid well for it. His family are rich anyway and not just from his millions.

I've honestly never seen him do anything in playoff games. He didn't show up last season and he's done nothing really in the 2 matches this year. Playing like a bottle-job here too.
I doubt Rowe is good enough for the Football League and I am quite happy we could not afford him. Very ponderous and laboured.

His trick at National League level is dropping into midfield and dictating the play as a kind of non-league Dalglish, but I don't think he would get away with that at higher levels. He does not seem to have the sharpness or the power that Norwood and Cook had for us. I think he falls more into the Ricky Miller category.

Have to laugh how they managed to take fewer fans to Wembley than their average attendance.

What happens when you only charge £10 for home games, you find out who your real fans are!

Glad they're up gives us all a sniff next season.

Football died today. :(

But at least we’re only gonna have to endure these wankers for one season before they fuck off to League 1.

At least Salford don't have a picture of Thatcher up in their boardroom (to my knowledge).

It absolutely sucks, but it could've absolutely sucked slightly more.

Hopefully they both get Derby'd next season.

Not sure Salford fully understand what they just did... Orient might have something to say about it, anyway!

Really enjoyed my day out at Wembley with my lad. Salford fans were excellent and created a great atmosphere.

Fylde played well and had very little goal threat and Salford didn't do much and scored 3.

Im probably in the minority but have no issues with a team receiving investment to improve and progress.

Best of luck to them

Investment isn't the same as pissing money away buying promotion. With investment you aim to reach a new sustainable level by improving your lot - new facilities, new revenue streams etc. If, following the 'investment' , you have to keep 'investing' just to maintain your level, that's a very bad investment indeed.

I can't see Salford ever being independently sustainable, they're just another overinflated plaything for a bunch of people with money.

Mugs.

They spunked god knows how much on their brand new team and staff and we pipped them by 3 points. We could even afford for them to beat us once as well.

Do you think they're going to be another Gretna FC?

Apart from them, I can't remember a promoted team getting as much dislike as Salford have today.

You lot must be a real laugh on a night out!
Plenty of examples of clubs with big budgets messing up.

Good luck to them.

Next season when Barnet romp it you can moan about the unfairness of parachute payments and off field investment from the hive....

Fair play, me neither, hope you enjoyed the day,
This forum, however, does not. And whilst I may ally with some who say Fylde and especially Salford have fiscally powered their way to promotion. I also see football as a game, and business, that promotes and rewards that value top down (why some have dropped down the tapdoor into the abyss and in Wrexham's case, a seemingly endless pergatory) But some bitter old coots will throw any mud about, we finished above the old combover boys but that was because we were cheating, rugby playing and now bankrolled tinpotters. So Sod em their time is past, i supported a club that was communal not finance and prestige based and there will always be a few that do the whole we are the bigger club and they 'cheated/parked the bus/ didnt play football' lot that only serve to promote the billionaire mentality.

Combover boys publish accounts to prove spending or be ok with the reality of underperformance,

All forgetting Flyde are just has bad.
What is their wage budget 1.5million on 700 fans?

Plus gate receipts from a sell out Wembley ?
With the Oyston's out of Blackpool and a failed promotion then this could be the glass ceiling brushed but not broken. Their play-off attendances at home and at Wembley show that there is not a genuine appetite for another FL club at the seaside. They're going to have to spend even more and give out even more free tickets.

We we're piss poor but we arent ready to go up in all honesty. We need to improve our crowds and stay at this level for a bit. Wont do us any harm. Fantastic job by our manager again. We have over achieved this season and last

On Salford's scale? Don't think so. There's bankrolling and then there's having a League 1 budget in the NL.

Also our off field revenue is from businesses at the Hive integrated into the club, it's not just money poured in by a stockbroker and some egotistical ex-pros.
