Is this like the oscars all over again and they’ll realise it was Andy Cook?

Andy Cook scored two more goals than Rowe with less pitch time. How do they work that one out?

No offence to Rowe, who is clearly a good player, but how has Cook not won this award ? NL top scorer, twenty plus goals at this level for three seasons in succession and he has actually scored more goals in the last two seasons than any other player in the top five divisions.

It seems bizarre National League logic, where second > first.

It can only be because voting was a few weeks ago, when Rowe was still top of the charts.

Yes it very well could be that RLC. I do personally believe Danny Rowe is the best player outside of the football league but im probably bias. Think the macclesfield players can feel hard done by as well with the season they've had. Other clubs voted for it though so i guess you can't really have any complaints. I think its 3 years on the bounce now that Danny have received the leagues player of the year

For me Rowe is probably better than Cook. The way he can drop deeper at times and absolutely run the game, as well as all the goals, is pretty remarkable. But Danny Whitaker beats them both of course. :woo:

Rowe is definitely better all round than Cook. But Whitaker should have won it anyway.

Shows again how poor the season has been overall when the top scorer in the league has about 25 goals, you used to have the likes of Tubbs, Vardy, Gray, Miller etc scoring 30 and some nearer to 40. In terms of lethal strikers down here Tubbs is the best I've seen in a decade.

Cook has got a lot more to his all round game than people think though. A lot of people just regard him as a big lump but there is not actually that much between him and Rowe.

He is equally good with both feet, scores tap-ins, thirty yarders, is great in the air and leads the line well. His mobility has improved under Mellon as well.

The difference is RLC you play Danny Rowe at centre mid which he drops into quite often and he controls the game effortlessly. His vision and long passing is as good as his finishing

Sounds like he needs to find his real position. ;)

I'm just glad they'll both be up front for us next season.

Along with Quigley and Matt Rhead? All this rubbish about Askey as manager is just a smokescreen, it's clear Pep is lined up for the Wrecsam job

Danny Whitaker would be my NL player of the year.
Not that it’s going to happen, but I probably would swap Cook for Rowe.

Agreed, and he will probably be back at this level again after being promoted with Havant.

That would never happen. Darlington would not work with an inferior.
