Interesting choice for Rovers in the next two games. Does Mellon pick the same side that has been in the form which has got us 2nd place to maintain momentum or rest key players trying to avoid injuries or sendings off?

I don’t think the play-offs are a done deal by any stretch of the imagination. Our nerve seems to go in such situations, but at least the manager has stockpiled a big enough squad to reduce the impact of any injuries.

He’ll play full strength sides and just sub the front three off early in both games.

No apology from DarkSithLord, unsurprisingly.
This is what happens when you let the Tin Potters run things, they bring the same half-arsed attitude to the task that prevails at their clubs. :bdick:

The great twist in this Macclesfield story is that they will be 15 minutes away from administration next month.

Promotion just means we can afford bigger buckets this summer.

I am as disapointed as everyone else and have made that point known

Servers just couldn't handle the excitement/shock of us winning the league.

Congratulations to Handsome Danny Whitaker Plus Ten FC for their promotion. I haven't seen a better side than Tranmere this season, but although our usual fans were wailing over Christmas that Whitaker FC were an average side, that was never in evidence. They knew just what to do, and if they can eventually manage that then so can we, and us being a football league side is beyond my imagination.

Tranmere have suffered enough this season, so as much as it's nice to have away fans at the Shay it'd be nice for a member of The Brotherhood to restore part of the Natural Order etc etc. It'd be nice to see Flyde go up so the rest of us aren't dirtied by having them in our league, but the football league would do their level best to prevent their inevitable going pop. Would still think it great craic if Morning Wood managed it too. Very unusual set of teams lining up in the playoffs this season, few Brotherhood items.

Congrats Macclesfield.

Awesome scenes winning that in the 91st. In the conversation with two to go.
Boreham Wood looked decent from the off but we gifted them the two goal lead, another worryingly sloppy start.
Questionable starting 11 again, whips Hanlon on after 30mins and we looked the better team from then on.

Roll on Tuesday.

I would like to add my congrats to Macclesfield but the video that is doing the rounds of their players on the coach singing songs about Tranmere and acting like a gang of tossers prevents me from doing so and I look forward to ramming it back down their arrogant throats next season should we succeed in the Play Offs

Congratulations to Macclesfield. They were the best team we played this season and deservedly beat us at Prenton Park, the defeat that effectively ended our challenge.

We were impressive again yesterday, controlling the game against a team who had actually been in decent form in recent weeks. We are definitely in better shape than we were this time last year, largely free from injuries, and the opposition seem weaker. I am not sure there is another squad in contention with the quality FGR had last season. In the past we have bottled it against the top sides, but we have just beaten Aldershot and Dover relatively comfortably, so maybe that is a monkey we have got off our back.

Fylde and Boreham Wood are the teams I most fear, as it is the footballing sides with pace and movement that cause us the most problems. However, if we can avoid playing those two at Wembley I will be relatively confident. I think we can beat anyone at Prenton Park at the moment.

Mellon has come out and said he will play a full strength team on tuesday out of respect for the other teams in the relegation dogfight... citing he has been on the receiving end of this philosophy and would not do it to anyone else

I would agree that’s right if there is something hanging on the game, but Solihull would need to lose both their remaining games by a significant margin to be at risk.

Congratulations Macclesfield, you did what champions do and found a way to win. You were absolutely ruthless in the second half at Prenton Park and that's probably the most impressive half of football I've seen from the opposition in our entire time at this level to date.

As for us, I'm really confident going into the play-offs that we could actually win them, but the memories of our no-show in the final last season are very hard to shake. I just hope we can continue to play at our current level for 4 more matches.

With chester going down, financially we could do with you lot staying down... hope Stockport come back up as well as it is nice to see good support in away end. Also you bottled it last season and if you fail again at least we have another team of chokers to join ours. Nice to see Salford, another money team coming up. Can hardly contain my excitement. Well done Macclesfield. ..at least that is a guaranteed 2 defeats out of the way.

Tranmere will reach the final but get reffed out of it against Borehamwood.
Thankfully the League 2 refs are more understanding of the Natural Order than the National League ones: :2thumb:

We’ll walk to playoffs this year*.

Congrats Macc on their consistency and not buckling under pressure from our incredible run of form the last 4 months.

As for Elliott Durrell and his video.. he’d wet himself if Mellon gave him a trial at Tranmere.

*Or 5,000 Tranmere fans will want to jump into the River Mersey holding a concrete block.
I know, imagine if he did anything remotely as cringeworthy any Tranmere players like, ooh I dunno, James Norwood?

Wasnt aware Norwood wet himself on the team bus and had a team mate post it on twitter, but each to their own.

Let’s not mistake the fact it’s a massive achievement for your club though.

I wasn't either, but then I'm not aware of any of our squad blacking up.

Cheers:thumbs:

Got fuck all to do with me pal. I am as disapointed as everyone else and have made that point known
For me our historic season will forever be tarnished by the fact that I couldn't laugh at Tranmere fans on here until a whole day after we'd won the league :bdick:

Does anyone else think Macclesfield will come straight back down again. :surr:

I can't believe they've been promoted from here with Shwan Jalal in goal nevermind wondering how he'd do in League Two. Whitaker, Pilkington, Lowe etc have a combined age of 250 and the likes of Blissett and Durrell are not good enough for L2.

WHOLESALE changes needed. I expect 90% of their squad to be playing for us next season anyway.

I'm sure I'll get castigated for this but I see a massive struggle for us next season. Fully agree on the names you mention (barring Durrell who I think will easily step up). Add to that Blissett who is apparently already signed up for next season and the fact everyone will most likely be offered a contract out of loyalty/reward or whatever you want to call it, we have some serious strengthening to do.

I guess it's a nice problem for us to have but I agree that it will be very difficult. It will be interesting to see who we can bring in and whether Askey is ruthless enough to release the ones that won't cut it in league 2 (that's if he doesn't leave, of course).

What's Danny Whitehead's contract situation at Wigan? That would be a great start.

Central midfield suddenly goes from outstanding to non existent if Whitaker retires or simply just another year older.

Durrell can step up and if Wilson works on his finishing he'd do well also.

Will be an interesting few months. But I don't worry about relegation.

He's on a permanent deal at Macc. Wigan released him from his contract with them earlier this season, pretty much solely because they couldn't be arsed filling out the paperwork for a loan deal when he joined us :bg1:
