RB, Luke Hendrie has penned a new 2-year deal. Surely this confirms Oscar Threkeld’s departure.

CEO all but confirmed Sam Hornby will be leaving, if anyone needs a keeper.

Can see Andy Cook moving on, too. Would be a decent signing for someone like Barrow/Grimsby - although his wages could be a stumbling block, as I think we’re paying him around £3,500-£4000 per week.
Think an Andy Cook - Omar Bogle partnership might work but we wouldn't offer anywhere near that wedge.

Wouldn't want Cook back at Barrow, to be honest. We've always been a club obsessed with going back to former players and they're rarely as good second time around (let alone 4th or 5th time around as it will be with Cook).

He would've been perfect as a Quigley replacement last summer, but another year older, and you'd have to wonder whether he'd be motivated after being bombed out by Bradford. I'd much rather a young striker on the way up than a nostalgia signing on the way down.

Plus £3k probably makes it unlikely anyway.

We've signed Aaron Wildig, who I believe comes from Hereford and wanted to move closer to family. Happy with that, given he made the step-up to L1 and Morecambe wanted to keep him.

We're currently linked with several Halifax players - which was obviously going to happen with Pete Wild being our manager now;-
Tom Bradbury (CD) - also rumoured to be Tranmere bound. Halifax have already announced he's leaving.
Billy Water (F)
Niall Maher (CD and Captain)

** our club twitter account is unusually active today - may well be nothing - but might be the prelude to a signing announcement

Hendrie is fine if he's second choice. But a two year deal with an option sounds like he's first choice which is a worry.
Challinor mainly played Hendrie at CB, which he was very good at.
Not so at full back though.

One of our regular ITKs said he’d hope we’d go for someone like Callum Johnson, he’s done similar hints in the past but I maybe looking to much into it. But he’s from up here and well known to our new head of recruitment and out of contract at Pompey so it wouldn’t surprise me. Personally don’t think Hendrie will be first choice, he’s very capable back up though.

We’re going to have a cracking reserve team next season, could do with some starters though.

Permenant deal for undisclosed fee, finally a signing with no links to Cardiff City, also i see he started his career with Tranmere.

Strong rumours we are in talks with Chris Gunter now his contract is up with Charlton, he is looking to move closer to home and play regularly to stay in the welsh squad for the world cup, he would certainly play on a regular basis here and he could'nt get much closer to home here as he is a Newport boy.

Would do a good job no doubt but we already have 3 right backs - Norman, Lewis and Bright. So its a no from me.

I see where your coming from rog!! but chris is a full blown multi cap welsh international and would walk into our team in front of those 3.

At some point we’re going to be linked with Charles Vernam so it’s best we start that rumour now

We’ll have thrown a decent wedge at him, if he chose to sign for Grimsby over Bradford, his decision will be purely geographical.

It’s possible, but very unlikely.

Hendrie is a decent full back depending on your expectation. He's not as good as Jamie Sterry so was never getting ahead of him for us. You probably need a full back offering more in attack if you want to challenge.

To be fair Hendrie did very well going forward for us with a few assists to his name.

Alex Pearce, centre back from Millwall will be joining AFCW on 1st July. First signing of the Johnnie Jackson era! Should provide some leadership in our back 4 or 5.

Yep he would walk into our team but we aren't short of decent options at RB. If Gunter was a LB defo sign him up but I reckon folk are getting carried away with the Bale to Cardiff hype. Gunter would be on good money I imagine which in my view is better spent elsewhere, particularly up front.

Our local journo, who’s also a fan has tweeted a lot about our and other teams interest in him the last couple of weeks.

I had a feeling this was because we’d agreed something and fought off competition for him. Personally I’m a bit underwhelmed and don’t think he’ll be a great fit with Madden as we’ll lack pace.

Myles Hippolyte has signed a new two-year deal.

Did a good job for us in numerous positions for us down the stretch. I’d have preferred to only give a one-year extension but guessing we had competition for his signature and wanted to keep him.

It’ll be interesting to see if Stockport launch loads of cash at it again or if they settle it down for a couple of seasons, Wootton would be a bit ‘meh’ for me but it’s telling that you’ve beaten Pompey to him

Home track superstar.

Lovely guy and Stockport fans won’t help but like him because he’s one of those you have to, but I suspect he’s got himself a bigger contract than I would personally be offering him.

Don't think he's all that but I reckon he'll add competition for Quigley stylistically. Quigley at his fully fit best is probably the better all round player I reckon but he's prone to the odd knock.

From what I've been told we'll be bringing a few in. Personally I would have stuck a bit more with what got us up but I'll judge when I see us in action and Challinor seems to get the best out of most. Keeping him for as long as we can is our secret to any success.

Brilliant news, this. He was perhaps the highlight of our run in, others started to wilt but his energy & box of tricks got us over the line

Putting aside Quigley’s injury issues and Challinor’s harsh treatment ahead of him towards the end of the season I think Wootton will fit our style more.

Despite his height Quigley doesn’t score many headed goals whereas that is one of Wootton’s strengths and we cross for England under DC.

Quigley scored 2 headers for Barrow the season before - one was from a couple of feet out - the other from a couple of inches out.
