Must be great to have something transfer related going on, not a sniff here of anything beyond Lyle Taylor.

I’d swap our busy transfer business/rumours for your league position and points total tbh.

Usually a busy January means your first half of the season has been a disaster, so count your blessings.

We've managed to balance a disastrous first half with no signings.

He was on peanuts with us apparently, before agreeing a new deal until the end of the season a couple of weeks back.

Harrop is one of those no risk wagers I think. I suspect we've got him on a pay as you play deal and he knows it's his last big chance of maintaining his career in the football league. He's clearly of a decent enough standard, the only question mark is his injury record (and it's a hell of a question mark). But these are the risks a club like ours has to take - we're not going to get ready made League One players coming to Cheltenham if they've got a perfectly clean history.

He wanted £1800 a week to play here which would've made him one of our higher earners. Whether that was down to him wanting a premium for dropping down L2 or he was trying his luck that we'd give him that I dont know. But Bell wasn't convinced we'd get value for money.

I'd have liked him here personally but I'm not paid to make those big decisions!

Great signing in theory one of the stand outs of the window at this level, see how he copes with it but think he was the one in the Martial bust up was he? In which case seems he should be fine with the physical side of it… can’t image how he will react in training when Nathan Smith gives him that first pinch!

Don't recall Pett having too many problems with us injury wise which considering our injury record over the past 3 seasons is pretty good!
Was ok here as well aside from a freak injury in pre-season that kept him out for a while.

I'd completely missed that - turns out he has over 70 appearances in League 1 as well.

Either way, it's experience where we once had Daniel Adshead and fucking Ellis Chapman!!
Chapman seems to have been with you guys for years now!

He's in Ireland now. Scored a hat-trick for Sligo in a pre-season friendly last Saturday.

Anyway - Liam Kinsella and Andy Smith set to be announced today. Clarke also confirmed last night that he's trying to bring in a striker and a left-sided player.

We've made an approach for Wigan's Callum Lang. He's unhappy apparently, and wants out. Rotherham and Derby also supposedly interested.

Seems to prefer right wing, and Wigan appear to be playing him anywhere but there. We have loanee Abu Kamara who's doing well there but has looked tired recently. Would be nice to get someone permanent in. Summer signing Gavin Whyte hasn't really looked the part.

People expecting a busy or quiet final week of the window?

I think we might see a couple of ins and a couple of outs.

If ours is quiet, we’re fooked.

James Scott has just joined St Mirren on loan for the season, and will sign permanently for them in the summer. It just never worked out for him here…So that leaves us with Sonny Cox as our only recognised striker.

With Scott going surely we have someone else lined up this week. But we need two forwards minimum, probably 3.

I think we need to bring in another LWB. For a team that has played with WB’s for the last few years we don’t half try and shoehorn people into those wide areas rather than use specialists there. Probably another striker too, hopefully with a bit of pace. Outgoings you’d think Lewis Cass as he has been on the periphery as has been rumoured but nothing materialised yet. Maybe someone tests our resolve with a speculative bid for Chislett who has run up some good numbers as a number 10 this season but if was to put money on it I’d say probably not.

Hopefully we land Callum Lang. A decent centre-half in on loan is also very much needed I'd say.

I’d want a million quid for Chislett or Garrity in the current market!

Need a wing back, striker and possibly a midfielder to cover the injuries there.

Would be nice to get a couple of permanents in.

Wonder if Rhys Walters will go. Cass likely id think, Uche maybe if someone else comes in for him?

One or two may move on from ourselves if they can get better contracts elsewhere or if our valuation is met for them - But nothing is set in stone.

Unless something injury wise was to happen Saturday, I can't see anyone else being brought in.

Anything we do now will almost certainly happen on deadline day - like most clubs tbh, theres always a late scramble.

Alistair Smith has joined Colchester on loan until the end of the season. Rumoured earlier in the week and a bit of a surprise because that leaves us short in CM so can only mean an incoming - unless we're going to try and shift Sorenson back in there from RWB (highly unlikely in my opinion) or play Mandroiu centrally (not sure on that either).

That said, he's fourth choice and played as a makeshift right of a front three in nearly all of his 25 or so games for us this season so half a season in his correct position in a league where he's previously done well in makes sense and gets a decent amount of games under his belt.

That's three in and five out now (or seven if we're including a couple of the young lads with squad numbers).

Gone from having a decent settled squad with just Johnstone and Nlundulu out, to being down to our bare bones. Gomes to return today from the African nations, but we have lost Forrester, Williams and Dempey all out injured and Thomason picking another two match ban for his 10th booking of the season. And Jones still away with Australia we need new signings very quickly. Loans would be the obvious answer but if we bring anyone permanent they need to be top signings ready to play Championship football

Will see how ambitious the board is in the next week or so.

Thought he looked quality at Harrogate a few seasons back, someone that our manager commented on at the time about a player that he really rated.

Obviously had legal troubles in recent years but now its all resolved imagine a fresh start is very much needed. May take him a while to get up to speed but think that's a solid signing at L1 and very good for L2 if you do end up going down.

He is a northern lad and obviously played for Liam Richardson so that's in our favour.
It depends if he wants to join a promotion race this year or next.
We have no fit wingers so Liam will want him but we spent £1.5m in the summer window so we might be skint.

Think it’ll just be a loan so I’m not sure he’ll be with us in League 2 next season.

Yeah so loan deal.

Don’t really see the point to be honest when won’t have him next season in league 2.

This months signings should be with next season in mind.

You never know it might be a loan to see where he’s at and then buy him in the summer if all works out. At 24 now and the time he’s lost in his career it’s possibly past the point he’ll make it at Sunderland so could be more putting himself in the shop window.

So we make a quality loan signing and your immediate reaction is a critical one?
